  • Hello, I'm Clara - Knit-iot on ravelry. I'm currently living in China with my husband but I am from England. I'm a teacher at an international school here. I'm trying to lose about 10 pounds...not much really but I love food so trying to find a balance between eating food I enjoy and eating for that will nourish my body is…
  • This is good to see. I don't have heavy weights so was hoping that body weight exercise would do the job too. :-) I should get some dumb bells too...the ones that I have are very light and don't really do much for my muscles! For anyone who is interested in lifting heavy www.stumptuous.com is a great resource with lots of…
  • I am 5'2 and would like to be leaner. I don't eat badly although I could do better with regards to eating less grains and doing more exercise. I have successfully lost weight before by going to the gym and doing weights but I am now not a member of a gym and buying weights isn't really an option right now so I am working…
  • Hi, I have just started using these workout videos on youtube, you work up a real sweat and they are really good circuit workouts. http://www.youtube.com/user/efit30
  • You say this like it is fact and not your own opinion. I wore an off the shoulder dress for my wedding and have my back tattooed. I personally think it looked great! I don't see a reason why they don't "go together". I'm not sure, in a way, why you replied as the OP has already stated they are pretty sure they're getting…
  • Mine came when I was weighed at the doctors as part of a full physical and I realised I had gained 1.4 stone in a year due to stress!! I also am starting a new teaching job in China in August and the school have said in their newsletter that I am into keeping fit!! I put it on my CV as I am but now I need to get back into…
  • I started to knit when I was having the same problem. For me eating was a habit and I did it without really thinking. Now I knit. It keeps my hands busy and a get really focussed on what I'm knitting. It's good fun and a great way to de-stress, providing you're doing it for fun and not to make a living. www.ravelry.com is…
  • Well 50% is very generous! Why don't you explain the reasons why e.g. to cover your costs and then perhaps suggest a few other places that she could get the same stuff made at. Hopefully when she sees the other prices she will see what a good deal you are offering her!! Families can be funny things. Although it is good to…
  • I have made some tomato sauce with red peppers and mushrooms plus some butter beans. :-) Yummy!!
  • Thanks for all the suggestions!! I think I will either have to try napping or being a bit more active. Will give it a go though!
  • It is the same for me with thinking psychologically that fuel will help. I also cannot nap during the day and do try very hard to stay hydrated. I do get enough sleep. I am often in bed for about 10-10.30 and up at about 6. I don't think this is too much for my body but I do sleep less when I am on school holidays as I…
  • It would be deserts for me. :-) I eat dark chocolate so I figure I can get away with it more so than if it were milk chocolate. I love my deserts though! I would probably drink cider....good cider though not white lightening or anything like that...haha!! :-)
  • I can relate. My husband suffers from depression and at one point it was quite severe. He is doing much better now though and is much happier. I also was diagnosed with mild depression as I was struggling to cope. If you haven't already been, go and see your GP. They can give you some advice and help you through this. Talk…
  • I haven't weighed myself in about a year and have only just come back on here. I used to weigh myself daily as I kinda got a bit addicted to it. I am very slowly trying to get back in to this and know that I need to take it slowly. So my relationship atm is non existent but I know that I will need to be careful when I get…
  • This made me laugh so loudly! Happy Period......that'll be the day!!!!
  • Something funny I saw on a tea towel, In washing machines no one can hear you scream. :-)
  • I just did a yoga video from yogajournal! It was the move and sweat one! So fast paced! Only 15 minutes but gives a good short burst of exercise!
  • it will help to stay motivated if you do not restrict your diet too much too soon.. Ease yourself in by perhaps cutting down on one unhealthy snack to start with and replace it with something better. If you do too much too soon you will burn yourself out. That's what happened to me, I went for exercising and restricting my…
  • Thanks! Pretty backpiece!!!! Is this new or just a new photo you have added?
  • Hi everyone, i got my blood tests back today. All normal, I guess that just means I am overdoing it at the gym and that I need to cut down a little. :-( I don't really think I do it to excess, 5 days a week maybe for about an hour each day. Nothing too intense really. My job is exhausting though and cannot make that any…
  • OK so as you know I am trying to maintain, this week has not been the greatest week food wise BUT I have maintained! I am so pleased as I was sure I had gained! Hooray! Have a great weekend everyone!
  • An awesome awesome move using the plank position is to start in the plank position, then push up, one hand at a time, so your hands are under your shoulders in a push up position, come back down one hand at a time repeat this as many times as you can. it is awesome for your stomach, but you need to keep your back straight,…
  • I think articles like this are informative for those people that don't know but it is frustrating that people don't read labels which tell you most of what you need to know, then complain that they are not losing as fast as they could. Labels are not difficult to read, you just need to know what you are looking for.…
  • I like to eat about 30g of cheese before bed, this is a fairly high calorie/fat snack so I only eat it if I have enough left but it because of the protein it keeps me full through the night, I used to wake up with hunger pains and this stopped it! A mug of warm milk is a good option too. xx
  • I just got back from the doctors, had some blood taken although it took forever as doctor really struggled to find a vein, will hopefully get test results back on Monday afternoon. Ah well, night off gym for me. I have a really sore hand/arm from drawing blood in two different places. Ouchie! Not so great with…
  • Good morning Uk'ers! I have been a little quiet the last couple of days as I went back to school and was exhausted by the time I got home! I have now switched to maintenance calories, I have not got to my goal weight but I just don't know if I will. I am much happier with the way I look and am definitely more confident in…
  • I'm a maintainer, but only as of today! I have 1660 calories before exercse but am hoping I do not gain! xx
  • Have you set your MFP goals to gain a pound a week? Your weight can fluctate daily by a few pounds so don't be alarmed by this. You may be better off just weighing in once a week, at the same time, wearing the same clothes. This will give you a better picture overall of what is happening to your body and the weight you are…
  • What a brilliant article. It has hit the nail on the head. I have often thought that anybody who struggles with their weight would benefit from counseling to address the issues that are causing them to over/under eat. It needs to be made more readily available considering all the problems that the U.K and the U.S in…
