I live in the US, and in the US it isn't unheard of to tip your Dentist/MD. The fact that you don't live in the US nor are you aware on US practices in regard to gratuities towards medical professionals doesn't mean I'm a "troll."

No, she's a Medical Doctor. She's 26, I'm 21. It could be a mere coincidence that the people you asked are also like you in the sense that they also don't know about tipping correctly. For example, if I asked 10 people what their favorite color is. it's possible they'd all say "Blue" but that doesn't mean there aren't…

Yes, 15-25% of whatever you pay on the day of your visit, (I usually do 25%.) I'll generally just make out a separate check and give it to the receptionist along with the visit payment. But if you're going to have multiple follow ups, I'd say 15% is fine.
-
What are you even implying? Is it That only younger people tip their dentists? I can assure you there's older people who are equally as courteous as younger individuals, evidently you aren't one of them. My Fiancee is an MD, and for her at least it's usually the younger people who don't tip, most of the older ones have…

Yes, 15-25% of whatever you pay on the day of the visit. (I do 25%.)

Not going to waste my time with frivolous links, the OP and I are both from the US, and I never said anything about any other country other than being surprised at how few individuals tip their healthcare professionals.
-
Sorry, by definition that isn't actually a "TIP" but I've seen that here in the US as well. They usually only resort to such measures (in the US at least.) after their waitresses aren't making enough money from too many individuals that do not tip. I understand that in some countries waitresses make a enough money to…

I sense a great deal of bliss emanating from you after your last few posts. Maybe you're right about the whole "ignorance is bliss," after all. My apologies.
-
If it's included in the bill, by definition it is no longer a "tip." So you wouldn't be tipping unless you gave additional money on top of this pseudo "tip"
-
Really? You don't sound very blissful.
-
You missed where I "missed," "Uncle" as well. I was simply emphasizing how ridiculous the statement was. Evidently that went over your head.
-
I thought he meant The US originally. They don't even tip waitresses in Italy, so not surprised by that at all. That doesn't change the fact that in the US, it is expected that you tip your Dentist.
-
You said "I think that in a lot of western countries the tip is already included. To which I said "Think again." Your husband's third cousins uncle being a dentist in a non-western country doesn't have any bearing on anything in regard to whether or not tips are "included" in western medical practices.

You're not my type, stop flirting with me. (Seriously.) My fiancee is an MD, and I wouldn't have an affair with a woman that doesn't tip MD's, out of respect for her.
-
Re-read my user name, then see my previous statement.
-
Think again.
-
No one implied you HAVE to tip, if you HAD to tip it wouldn't be a "TIP" it would be a fee. The OP was simply asking if 20% was a good amount to tip his Dentist. (It's not, I tip 25%) but compared to other people in this thread 20% is a lot more than they give.
-
No thanks, and my username isn't an STD, maybe if you tipped your Doctor you would have been Properly diagnosed with Dyslexia years ago.. Stay Safe.
-
And I bet you think long waits at the Doctors office, or Dentist for you are coincidental as well? I have plenty of family members in the medical field, and my fiancee is an MD. When I entered this thread I was initially embarrassed that the OP didn't know the correct amount to tip. Now I'm astounded at the number of…

You're not reading correctly, you tip 25% of your visit costs. So it's 25% of whatever you pay at the time of your visit.
-
25% of 60 euros is 15.00 You can't afford 15.00 to tip?
-
Strong post.
-
.
-
I bet the checkups would be a lot more thorough if you tipped.. Do you think the dentist doesn't remember you? You're the guy who NEVER tips. My checkups take about 17-25 minutes, and are VERY thorough.
-
Jesus Christ. How many emoticons are you going to use?
-
A white knight appears.
-
Yeah, So that just leaves the tip.
-
Yes, it's all fat acceptance, misuse of the term "Curvy" and "kitteh gifs."
-
Well, if you ever need one, do the right thing and tip 15-25%. (I usually do 25%.) I can never understand how individuals can be so greedy that they don't tip people that care for their health.
-
That's just what people who don't tip like to think.
