I think this thread is great because a lot of people think "going on a diet" means never having sweet treats again. It took a lot of those "IIFYM" type threads for me to finally believe that it's okay to fit in goodies. Now, I am really happy and slowly, steadily losing. Last night I had a Doubletree cookie, but during the…

Um, me too. I work out at home when no one's here, so whatever, lol! But yes it feels gross to hang it up to "air out"!

This use to happen to me periodically (okay every night) and I put a lock on the pantry/ refrigerator when it's time for me to go to bed. I couldn't stand seeing a whole day of planful eating go down the drain when I would wake up to empty chip bags and cookie cartons:/

I am with a PP in that I have always passed on the eggs thinking they wouldn't be as good as the PB cups. Now I will HAVE to fit some into my calories this season. Today I had a Doubletree cookie and it was wonderful to fit that into my calories, but that's a whole 'nother, drool-worthy thread:) I will just have to make…

OP, your diary is not open. It's difficult to assess your eating habits to determine what changes may be able to help you feel less hungry.
-
Welcome to the boards, OP! I see you have 1 pound down and 139 to go. You're going to have to make sure your diet/ exercise routine is sustainable for the long haul. I couldn't see your diary to see how many calories and at what macros you have been eating. If you can make that available, you will be able to get more…

Welcome to the boards and congrats on your start on a new, healthier lifestyle. I agree with Malibu's post. I recommend you get your friend to read the "sexypants" thread with you so he will know what is a realistic and sustainable amount of weight for you to lose. I weigh 177 and am losing 30 pounds by August by eating…

You've gotten some good responses here. I just wanted to say Welcome to the boards!

I am enjoying the YAYOG book and worked out with just that for a week. This week, I downloaded the videos (DVDs) from Mark Lauren's website and did my first work out yesterday (timed sets). It was tough but went really quickly! I am already seeing results around my waist!

Is this supposed to be a short term diet or something for you to follow long term? I think you will find here on the forum, more calories are recommended because many people struggle with long term adherence to a "diet" that is too restrictive in calories, types of food, etc. Add healthy fats as recommended before. Instead…

Exactly.

Omg! Between the Ellen clip and the woman on the vibrating bull with tiny dumbbells, I can't stop laughing. This thread is going to get somebody in trouble though!
-
Wow. I don't know what to think about THAT type of encouragement!

And OP, 18 pounds down and 33 to go? You got this! I will say if at some point drinking your breakfast is no longer satiating, or becomes boring, you can consider some of the other options PPs have shared:)
-
Thanks for sharing, OP!! I'm so glad this is working for you. Congrats on your weight loss! I do a smoothie of 4 oz. unsweetened almond milk, 4 oz. plain greek yogurt, 1/2 banana, 1 cup kale/spinach, 1 tbsp ground flaxseed. After getting 4 kids ready in the morning and needing to whisk them off to school, this is super…

Thanks for sharing. Can you list the ingredients? For me, if I was looking at breakfast drinks, something like this would be too expensive for everyday use, and would have a lot of added sugar that I don't necessarily want. Have you considered just doing a fruit and vegetable smoothie and go ahead and drink the whole…

And I think mymmodernbaby is saying eating 1/2 of your exercise calories back (if using the MFP guided route to calculating your calories). If you use TDEE (and include how much you are actually working out in those calculations) you don't eat back your exercise calories.

Still an AWESOME post! Very helpful!

I was looking for this thread and couldn't find it in announcements? Is this not a sticky? I'm shocked as it is the go-to thread for lots of newcomers.*

Atkins "fat fast". 1000 calories, 90% from fat- I ate so many egg yolks with mayonnaise, and a tuna in oil with mayonnaise. That sounds absolutely absurd now. I actually lasted 4 whole days and lost 8 pounds. I gained it back and more of course.

Awesome job and great perspective! Thanks for sharing your story and lessons learned!

Thank you for sharing your story! You look amazing!!

That's awesome! You've done an incredible job!! Fuquay? As in Fuquay Varina NC? I know where that is. If not, then I have no idea what you guys are talking about, lol.
-
Wow, you can really see the difference! Great job! You are setting a great example for your son.

Hopefully, they've explained well enough that you don't need to worry about consuming water to flush away "burnt fat" because there is no accumulation of burnt fat in your body. With that said, maybe we can help you figure out why you weren't feeling well after a period of losing weight. Were your calories too low? Were…

I will lose 42 pounds this year, from 187 to 145 by my 40th birthday in August. I have lost 12 so far this year (including 10 holiday pounds:/ so 30 more to go!

The incredible shrinking lady! You look so cute and are getting younger in each picture!
-
Congrats! Job well done. I'm sure if you decided to cut your calories back a little at a time, the same way you learned to job, you could do it! That is, if that's something you decided was a good goal for you!
-
Good work!! You'll be looking great on the beach this summer!

I've started You Are Your Own Gym based on your outcome with bodyweight training and all the research I did and I am loving it already. Thanks for being an inspiration, hot mama!
