after hiking in Pinnacles National Monument for 2.5 hours, i had NO knee pain at all. (pretending i'm holding an award like an oscar, but shaped like a knee) i'd like to thank MFP for helping me lose 15 pounds so far... i'd like to thank the MFP community for believing in me. i'd like to thank my wonderful supportive…

IMHO any temporary change in your diet/exercise routine will lead to temporary results. fasting may or may not lead to weight loss. cleansing will lead to weight loss, but you will slowly put that weight back on as your intestines fill up again. i agree with banks that these methods are cheats (unless for spiritual…

i'm paying off my contractor:grumble: what's everyone else doing with theirs? i'm curious how many people actually plan on spending theirs on stuff they don't need vs people saving it or paying off debt (like me)...

i think i do feel hungrier when i'm stressed, i also tend to nibble more (eat without thinking) when i'm stressed. i've found the best way for me to not nibble is to drink giant mug of herbal tea. it fills my stomach and keeps my hands and mouth busy. good luck on your finals:flowerforyou: man, i'm glad i'm done with…

second! also check out BellyQueen's Bellydance Jam. A short dvd, but they have their own bellydance version of the electric slide. its a ton of fun!

first off, i love my husband dearly. really i do. he cooks all the dinners and they are super yummy. however, he is not so concerned about how nutritious or fattening his dinners are. the other night, he's making chicken and veggie soup, sounds healthy... until i smell bacon. yes, he is sauteeing the veggies in…

i agree. fasting, pills, all that crap is so dangerous. if someone said "Gee, i think i'll saw off a limb to lose some weight" none of us would think twice about screaming 'Don't do it'. and i think this is the whole point of the boards, to offer advice and support. and to warn each other about the many, many dangerous…

i totally budget wine into my calories. :drinker: i'll skip dessert before i'll skip wine!:blushing:

the california overnight guy says 'you've lost weight' he's the only one that noticed:tongue:

i've had some pretty gnarly knee pain, usually during long hikes and i was 10 pounds heavier. it felt like there was an ice pick stabbing all the way thru my knee. i'm embarrassed to say i've cried a few times on the trail cuz of pain in my knees. oddly enough, i think bellydancing has helped my knees. the knees are soft…

if you have the time, prep food during the weekend, or after you're done shopping for groceries. i bought a set of cheap ziploc tupperware thingies, and i use those for my breakfast and lunches during the week. i usually do fruit/yogurt/cereal for breakfast. grapes and bananas are really easy to prep and stay good for at…

for a beginner class, you won't use much 'coordination', but it will be a challenge. when i started, my instructor would tell me to drop my pelvis... wha?!?! after one hour, i got the dropping and tucking movement. its definitely a challenge, but totally worh it. like viviakay said, your body will move in ways you didn't…

i agree. i give myself a cheat day once a week, or else i wouldn't be able to stick with my plan at all. its hard to deny yourself constantly, so don't feel bad. just do better tomorrow.:flowerforyou:

claim jumpers has the most ginormous portions ever! its the only restaurant i know of where your garnish is a whole apple. seriously, who can eat all that food!?! and that giant chocolate cake they have... good luck beccilyn:flowerforyou:

so true. i am an caffeine addict, get headaches when i don't have coffee in the morning. i would not start drinking it as a method to speed up your metabolism, kaiya. you will crash and eventually become dependent on it. i'm down to 2 cups a day per my doctor, and even thats rough some mornings.:drinker:

i have never taken herba life, but their ads sound more like a pyramid scheme than anything else. did you friend try to sell you some?

my experience with curves was not that great. they always told me i was pushing too hard, and i should take it easier. they'd say this after i had barely broken a sweat. i think curves is a good starting point for women, especially if you've never been to a gym or worked on any kind of machine before. the training is…

wouldn't it be easier ( and less dangerous) to sweat out the weight like boxers and wrestlers do?

yes, eat those earned calories! :drinker:

i love bellydancing. its great cardio, and its FUN! i could never stay on a treadmill for longer than 20 minutes, but i can dance for 2 hours at least without getting bored. try to find a local instructor and try a class. there also a lot of instructional dvd's, but i think a real teacher in front of you is much better.…

that is the cutest thing ever! i'm making it my wallpaper at work.

some people think cheat days are good. they keep your metabolism guessing! i think its more dangerous to deny yourself, then REALLY go overboard. don't feel bad, enjoy that delicious McD's while its in your belly:tongue:
