The Fitbit Charge activity tracker is only US$20 less than the Charge HR. Not only does it not have a heart rate monitor, but it has a flimsy clasp rather than a secure buckle. All Fitbits calculate your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure). Non-step exercise (like swimming or biking) must be logged—either in Fitbit or in…

Eat back your exercise calories the same way you did while you were losing. After a few weeks, reevaluate your progress and adjust accordingly. It'll take some trial & error to find the calories at which your weight will stabilize.

You lose weight by eating fewer calories than you burn. And the best way to know how much you're eating is to log everything you eat & drink accurately and honestly. You don't have to weigh your food for the rest of your life—just long enough to get your portions under control. Then take the scale back out every time you…

I don't have my phone on me 24/7. Fitbit challenges are great motivation—and fun. My Charge HR tracks my sleep and has a heart rate monitor.

That's only accurate if you eat at that exact same deficit for the next 34 days straight. Who lives like that? Ignore it, and sync your Fitbit with Trendweight.com (it's free) to plot a moving average of your weight without the "noise" of water weight. Do not log any step-based activity—your Fitbit is tracking it for you.…

The only way to gauge the accuracy is to trust your Fitbit for several weeks, then reevaluate your progress. I eat back 100% of my Fitbit adjustments, lost the weight, and kept it off. But I also: • log everything I eat & drink accurately & honestly, • enabled negative calorie adjustments in my diary settings, and • log…

Activity level is everything but exercise—including work, commuting, housework, yardwork, and child care: Sedentary: Spend most of the day sitting (e.g. bank teller, desk job) Lightly Active: Spend a good part of the day on your feet (e.g. teacher, salesman) Active: Spend a good part of the day doing some physical activity…

I couldn't disagree more with the bolded part. To me, your story is a million times more inspirational than someone who loses a large amount of weight in a drastic, unhealthy way. You've made healthy, sustainable lifestyle changes—and you're an amazing role model for your kids.

I never had anything like this until I started taking Cytomel (thyroid hormone replacement). My endocrinologist insists it's completely unrelated. I get dizzy watching the tracks go by on the train.

Jawbone UP is a range of activity trackers (like Fitbit) with a "feature" that scores your food based on how "healthy" it is. (Kind of like MFP's "this food is high in x," but even worse.) I just ignore it, and let my UP do what it's good at—calculate my TDEE. https://jawbone.com/kb/articles/foodscore.html

My UP2 is too big, so I guess I'm doomed to having it constantly put itself to sleep. It's gotten so bad I ordered an UP24 in "like new" condition on Amazon for US$35. I'll finally be able to feel the idle alert again!

Disconnect Runkeeper + MFP. That way, Runkeeper sends your info to UP, UP sends your TDEE to MFP, and MFP adjusts your calories accordingly.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I thought you were using MapMy and tracking your steps with your iPhone. I didn't realize you were using UnderArmour, too.

You should only see UnderArmour if your accounts are connected. Disconnect them at http://www.myfitnesspal.com/apps/show/344
