  • Everybody's different, so it'll take trial & error to find what works for you. I've used MFP + Fitbit for three years, lost the weight, and kept it off—by logging food in MFP and exercise in Fitbit. If you'd rather log exercise in MFP than Fitbit, it will not duplicate. You're asked for the start & end times, and Fitbit…

  • Since food only syncs one way—from MFP to UP—I've never tried logging food in UP. But I've heard the database is much smaller than MFP's. In my opinion, the UP food score is 100% rubbish. I ignore it. https://jawbone.com/blog/nutrition-design-problem-food-score/
  • Like @KittensMaster, I think it's so important that you build a healthier relationship with food. Please be a healthy role model for your daughters! (I'm so grateful to my mother for keeping a vegetable garden, taking us to pick-your-own orchards and berry farms, and making us walk after dinner.) For me, the key was to get…

  • Your Fitbit burn is TDEE (total daily energy expenditure), the calories necessary to maintain your current weight. Your default MFP calorie goal is activity level minus deficit. Adjustments are the difference between your Fitbit burn and your MFP activity level (sedentary, lightly active, etc.). If (and only if) you enable…

  • Make some friends in the Fitbit Users group and start doing Fitbit challenges. They're great motivation—and fun: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1290-fitbit-users Also, make a resolution to eliminate negative self-talk. Treat yourself at least as kindly as you would treat an MFP friend. It's really hard at…

  • Fitbit will never give you accurate distance for blading—only step-based activity. For an accurate burn, log non-step exercise in Fitbit—not MFP. • Did your GP prescribe Synthroid to reduce your nodules—or to increase your T4? I have Hashimoto's, and my endocrinologist is really dismissive about the size of my thyroid. He says it's "only" twice the normal size, and his other patients' are three, four, even five times normal. I've taken Synthroid for more than three…

  • https://help.jawbone.com/articles/en_US/PKB_Article/troubleshoot-softreset-up2-up3-up4 Edited to add I don't think there is a hard reset. That page says to contact Jawbone if the soft reset doesn't fix the problem.
  • Sounds like your MFP starting weight is less than your current weight: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/measurements/edit Nothing to do with Fitbit.
  • If you see your aggregate meal data in MFP, then your accounts are connected. If you enabled negative calorie adjustments in your diary settings, then you should see an adjustment in your diary under cardio exercise. To see your steps, in the MFP app go to More (Menu) > Steps and check Jawbone.
  • I use the Fitbit iOS app. Today, it crashed a bunch of times, and one of MFP friends had the same problem. FYI, MFP has a Fitbit Users group: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/1290-fitbit-users
