  • Ha, I didn't even read past the apology letter. Too bad, it seemed so sincere...
  • They are getting revenge on those who judged them for being overweight by losing weight . . . yea, that'll show them . . .that'll show them that their shaming worked!!
  • How about not enabling negative adjustments? I don't enable negative calorie adjustments with fitbit and I've definitely never had the problem you are describing.
  • I had the same problem with Fitbit exercise calories. I was eating all of them back and my weight stalled. Now I only eat back exercise calories on days when my exercise is more than normal. So normally it says I burn something like 500 extra calories through exercise (I have my activity level set as "lightly active" so my…
  • Isn't that what MFP forums are for! (sarcasm there) Wasn't this post about sugar? Can we have the sodium debate in a relevant spot? As for the recommendations on sugar, I'm not giving an opinion if they should be followed or not, but the AHA recommendations are about 30g of ADDED sugar per day, not total sugar as some seem…
  • I do love eggs. As a vegetarian, they are a way of making sure I'm getting all the amino acids I need! Edited: read the article wrong, missed that it said ONE of the foods with naturally occurring vitamin D
  • Check this out! http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2013/05/09/the-scientific-7-minute-workout/?ref=health
  • Just want to mention that most types of Crystal light also use aspartame as the sweetener, so if it's the artificial sweetener you want to avoid than Crystal light won't help much.
  • I don't use Jenny Craig, but now I want to email all the brands I buy who don't list potassium and see if they can give me similar info! Lots of food labels fail to list potassium. I usually estimate it because I too try to make sure I"m getting enough, but it's not always easy to estimate. Thanks for the idea! :)
  • You must have been listening to This American Life. I heard it too. Interesting to hear about a feminist who suddenly can't stop objectifying women because of testosterone! I think everyone can agree that both sexes have hormones that may be out of balance. But our hormone levels are different and therefore affect each sex…
  • Wow you are really lucky if your boobs got perkier. Mine started to sag as soon as they got smaller due to the skin being a bit looser. Thank God for push up bras is all I can say!
  • Oh God, I thought this was a joke until I googled it and most sites seems to say there are either 4-5 calories per envelope or 17 calories! :noway: I think you better start doing what I used to do at my temp job and moisten a paper towel and use the towel to wet the envelope.…
  • Completely agree. Can't believe how judgmental this is getting. And I hate the idea that if a child is in any way overweight that the parents must be horrible people. I grew up overweight with two normal weight siblings. Were my parents just bad at parenting me?? And we're talking about BABIES here. I can't believe how…
  • I think everyone else got the snack-at-work thing covered, but I thought I'd give my two cents on how to handle after work hunger. I also started to experience being really hungry after work once I graduated college and started a desk job. The feeling has, unfortunately, never gone away. My way of dealing with it is to…
  • But biting open the shells and spitting them out is the best part
  • I know this post is old, but in case anyone else runs across it I wanted to give a proper answer since none was given. 1/4 cup (30g) seeds equals 3/4 cup (60g) in the shell. It's listed on some packages I buy. I always use this measurement and it seems to work out. Also, they sell small one serving bags in the shells at…
  • It's only been one week, be patient!

  • Do you sync your fitbit to your myfitnesspal account? If you do, it will add your exercise calories to your daily calories. If you burn 1,000 calories through exercise than you can eat 1,000 calories more that day. So it's 1200 plus exercise calories. If you eat 1200 calories only then burn 1000 calories, your body is only…
  • Not if you are still eating high in sodium. Another reason to log all your food. Don't be discouraged by the scale. It'll go up and down all the time. If you are leading a healthy lifestyle then you'll get where you want to be eventually! The scale is not the only way to measure progress and if you rely on it you'll be…
  • I agree. I would guess some of that 4 pounds is water weight if you were consuming more sodium than usual. I know after my last vacation the scale said I gained 8 pounds but 4 of those pounds were gone the next day! You could try eating low sodium, high potassium for a few days and see if that moves the scale.
  • This could be the culprit. There have been days I've mentally counted calories but then log them at the end of the day and am shocked that I've eaten a few hundred calories more than I thought. Now, I'm an accountant so it's not that I can't count, but trying to keep track mentally just doesn't work for me. There's always…
  • I agree that natural sugar is not something to worry about. Sugar in fruits, vegetables, and things like plain yogurt are fine. If the sugar naturally occurs then you don't need to fret. The real problem is the added-in sugar (white sugar, sugar cane, corn syrup...). The American Heart Association reccommends limiting…
  • I also live alone and the best way to save food is to take advantage of the freezer. You can freeze just about any meal and make it last weeks instead of days!! I also have to eat out when out of town on business. I always go over my sodium limits when out of town but I keep them from skyrocketing by making every other…
  • If you aren't limiting carbs or sugar then go for it! Flavored yogurt has a LOT of sugar. It really is starting to rival soda in the amount of sugar it contains. If you want to limit sugar, I suggest flavoring plain yogurt yourself. Honey and fruit work great. I personally like to mix sugar free pudding into plain yogurt.…
  • Try to forgive yourself and remember why you started this journey in the first place. I've fallen off the wagon more times than I like to remember, and being mad at yourself only makes it harder to get back to it. I have to really forgive my bad behavior before I can move forward. You can't change anything you've done, you…
  • Exactly. Make sure you are counting ALL the ingredients and not just the cake mix. It sounds like maybe you are just looking at the cake mix calories, though I could be wrong as some packages add the ingredients for you. Either way, I really hope you ate and enjoyed the cake you've been saving calories for!!
  • I feel your frustration. You may just not be losing in that part of your body yet. It's possible if you've built muscle in your thighs without losing fat there and that accounts for the extra inch. A lot of the time, where you lose weight on your body just depends on your natural body type. I was 248 in January 2012 and I…
  • This is what I do to keep the nighttime binge at bay; I keep my hands busy. I play computer games and before I know it it's time to go to sleep and I haven't eaten anything. It's also important to plan ahead and know when you are going to sleep so you can plan to when to eat. If there's a night I stay up late unexpectedly…
  • I don't know if this will help but when I have water retention problems I try to eat as much potassium as possible and that seems to help my body let go of the fluids.
