  • My method is eat less, move more. It is simple and effective.
  • Now I am lucky enough to have a wonderful relationship with my Mum (and my Dad too) but I find your post incredibly patronising. You are basically saying that because someone gives birth to you , you have to love and respect them regardless of how much **** they bring to your life. Does this include drinkers and drug…
  • 9am - part of breakky (slice of small wholemeal toast) 10am - more breakky (fruit and small yoghurt) 11am - last of breakky (anothe slice of wholemeal toast) 1.30pm - lunch (usually something with chicken breast) 3.30 - snack (slices pepper and cucumber or a rice cake with humus) 4.30pm - snack (Pomegranate seeds) 5pm -…
  • My OH does not need to lose any weight at all so I am in a slightly different position. We eat the same for the most part but I make sure that his portions are always bigger than mine (carb and protein wise at least) . My OH also drinks a Nurishment drink a day [about 500 cals] but it is good if you are burning lots of…
  • If you buy an 8" Pizza Express Margherita (from any of the supermarkets) you can have half for less than 280 calories. Throw in a massive salad and it makes a nice lunch!
  • Account Manager / secondary sales for a large US Property Software company [We've just been taken over by an even larger Canadian Property Software company!] I deal with existing contracts held by aprox 1000 clients. Been here 10 years - since I finished Uni - and have watched the business go from being a small Ltd company…
  • You may well have kick started your metabolism but I uarentee if you ate liek that every weekend you would not lose every week :noway:
  • I followed a low GI plan back in 2006 and I didn't count calories as much as I do here. Low GI is all about regulating your blood sugar levels by eating little and often - and of course eating low GI foods (food which release energy slowly and steadily) the premise being that you will never "crave" food as you never go for…
  • 6pm for me - I am a morning person in general but I simply do not have a spare hour every morning so it's easier for me to fit in a work-out in the evening..
  • I am going on holiday on 12th September so that leaves 6 days.... So for 6 days I plan: 1) Stick within calorie goal every day 2) 30 minute cardio x5 times 3) 30 minute walk each lunchtime 4) No alcohol until holiday I am very close to goal weight but still the idea of throwing on my bikini is a little eeeek !!!
  • Sizing is so sporadic that it is hard to know which size you are in any given shop? I bought two bikini's from the same store, same style (bandeu), same size - one fits perfectly the other hardly covered my bits! What is up with that? I would never knowingly buy a size too small though, too tight clothes look awful no…
  • My NSV this week is that I only gained 1lb. Seriously 5 out of 7 days I was over! Last weekend was awful and on Sunday I was 1000 cals over (the first and LAST time since signing up here I have been that far over calories!) Best case scenario would have been to stay the same, but a small gain was expected. On the upside I…
  • It wasn't a blind date as we had met a few times before at parties (and always really gravitated towards each other) We finally arranged a proper evening out and it was fab - we went for dinner, had a few drinks and totally lost track of time. He had an appointment in town the next day so I offered him my sofa. We went…
  • Mexican Dining Mexican Food is often rich and creamy. But by knowing the basics, you can look for the full-flavoured meals with the lowest possible calories....pass the salsa, extra chillies please! Strategies Top 5 tips • Enjoy the salsa served before your meal but avoid the deep-fried corn tortilla chips, choose a flour…
  • Has anyone in the UK had time to work out the equivelant recipe? They look delish but we don't have the ingredients here!
  • I log booze, OJ, etc but I don't log tea (really bad as I drink 3 cups a day BUT to be fair I have never logged them and have still lost!)
  • I stayed the same weight for 12 weeks - now that is a plateau. If you think a few days of staying the same needs 'action' I fear you are not getting MFP at all !!!
  • I'm not sure actually! Maybe it changes daily depending on what you had the day before? IE if you were over on fibre one day it gives you less the next day?
  • Would it not be an option to change the menu as such but to offer different portion sizes? So you could have the option to have a reduced size Carbonara / Arrabiata / Bolegnese etc. Also offer wholemeal pasta as an option. Salad always work well for those watching their calories - you could sell dressing on the side, so…
  • I don't think I could have started both at the same time but I have successfully stopped smoking since signing up to MFP... I was already very close to goal weight when I stopped smoking though! Not smoking and eating healthy, calorie controlled foods are both lifestyle choices for me [I loathe to use the word diet as it…
  • Cajun chicken fettuccine with salad (480 cals!)
  • Cup of tea for me (how English hey? ) I tend to have a yoghurt about 4.30 and that keeps me full until dinner !
  • I messed up big time this weekend! I was over Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon (Sunday I was almost 1000 cals over!!!) I have not eaten this badly since I signed up here... I mess up now and then but not 4 days in a row!! I feel guilty, and I am so annoyed with myself BUT I am going to stay positive. I am back on track today...…
  • shame i'm not near an asda. I'm in desparate need of cheap work trousers
  • I drink vodka and diet coke. But if you only drink a little (and occasionally) just earn the calories to have one or two of what you like to drink (wine? beer?)
  • There are things I have infrequently now (garlic bread, wine, pizza) that I used to have a few times per week. So I have cut back. I have actually managed to give up something I thought I would never ever want / be able to give up - smoking!!!
  • 'Tis very true. Is it not a fact that there are very few verified medical reasons for someone to be hugely overweight? I was fat because I ate too much, I ate the wrong things, I drank too much wine and did not take enough exercise. I got myself into the situation and there is no excuse for it.
  • Agree that time is also a major factor - growing up My Mum was a stay at home Mum and she had time to go to the local butchers, greengrocers etc.. sadly I don't have that time! My local butchers is closed when I walk past in on route to work and when I am on my way home. I am not left with much choice as to where I buy my…
  • I 100% agree - make all kids have a 2 hourly weekly lesson (alternative terms if not every term) dedicated solely to learning about nutrition and health. Kids would be taught the basics about healthy choices, cooking, regular exercise and then hopefully they can home and educate their fat parents. Sorry but it a huge bug…
