I'm never without my Ki Fit monitor... http://www.kiperformance.co.uk/ I got mine second hand on ebay but I wear it ALL THE TIME and it gives me a constant running total on how many cals I've burned throughout the day. There is a trip function on there so you can measure specific periods of calorie burn e.g. exercise…

Ooops! Sorry.... It won't let me delete the last post that just says, cryptically, "T". Hmmm.... what can it mean? Perhaps I am subconciously crying out for Tea Time!!! :-D Anyway, some good tips on here! Will probably give myself permission to drink this weekend otherwise I'm just kidding myself - and take Diet Coke and…

Why not make a massive bowl of sugar free jelly and get stuck into that when you want something sweet. Also the low fat instant hot chocs are good for when you fancy a bit of choc or something! I'm dreading this Saturday. It's my SIL's birthday and we've been invited over for dinner. Trouble is it's likely to be a very…

Sorry! Just realised, the race starts at 11.30 PM!! Wowzer! Good luck with that! Sorry - my advice was geared towards an 11.30 AM start!! Doh! So yes, as the others have said, eat plenty that day... start off big and taper your meals so they get lighter as the day goes on. Good luck!

Hi Tiggermummy! First of all, congratulations on attempting a half marathon! It's no mean feat, even for the walkers and I would therefore give the same advice to someone who was running it will take you longer to walk it than the runners, so you will still need to make sure your body is adequately fuelled for the task…

Can I be in? I actually only have 12lbs to lose to get to my goal weight but its nearly a stone and I'd still like it off before Christmas!

I would get it looked at by a physio. It could be ITB syndrome (Illio-Tibbial Band) more commonly known as "runners knee" - a fairly common complaint for runners but the spot you mention seems a little to low for that. The ITB runs down the outside of the thigh to the knee and is often caused by a weak gluteus medius. Knee…

Hiya. Where are you? UK or the states? I can definitely reccommend any of the Jillian Michaels DVD's. Her "30 day Shred" claims to get you ripped in 30 days in just 20 minutes a day! So it's great to squeeze in when you're on short on time. I used to do it before my bath or shower every day. Also, her 6 week 6 pack is a…

Wow!!! What an AWESOME achievement! You must be very proud. Any tips?

After a heavy exercise session there is a magic window of about 90 minutes where any carbs you eat get stored as glycogen in the muscles to replace glycogen lost during your workout, rather than being laid down as fat. This is your body's way of preparing to fuel you for your next workout. Also you need to eat protein to…

Wow that's amazing!!! Well done! What a shame you never got your medal! I think that training for races is a great motivator as well. Your workouts then have a purpose rather than it just being weight loss.

I sign up for races. Then I'm forced to train for them! If I know I have a race coming up it gets me out of the door running. Otherwise it's too easy to just skip sessions! Perhaps you could find out about trail riding clubs and events that you could take part in? Might help to motivate you out the door! Good luck! B x

I haven't got C25k (never heard of it! What is it?!) , but I can vouch that running is an awesome way to lose weight. I lost 28 lbs last year from running. And when I started I couldn't run for longer than a minute! I now run half marathons and hope to do a marathon soon. It's a fantastic way to keep the weight off! I…

As I always say "Life gets in the way sometimes". And it does. I've had similar events this week that have lead me off the path of righteousness!!! :-D Just don't beat yourself up about it, and keep getting back on the horse. Try and make up as much as you can with exercise and keep trying. It's a long process this losing…

Hi there LOVE the idea about the trainer - that will really help you focus on your fitness goals and have a suitable plan in place to achieve them. Also the Men's Health website is great. I would say that buying Magazines like Mens Health and Mens Fitness also help because reading those sorts of magazines helps motivate…
