I think these features work best for people on IIFYM diets, what do you guys think?
-
Understanding that what I want to accomplish (weight loss) is a matter of simple Calories In / Calories Out and not falling for gimmicks like I have in the past.
-
Thanks, @rainbowbow ! I do most of that... Except pre-logging! That's a good call! I'm going to start right now :-)
-
Sometimes when I feel hungry, in order to postpone eating, I do an activity that is incompatible with eating like painting my nails!
-
I really don't like cardio workouts, so, rather than doing high-intensity, short (30-60minutes) workouts, I've been working long walks into my day.
-
One of my favorite snacks to fill me up is Jello's Fat Free, Sugar Free instant chocolate pudding made with skim milk. 76 cals/ serving, one packet makes 4 servings.
-
Thanks, @UltimateRBF ! I've seen those before, what I'm really after is personal stories about how individuals deal with the every day challenges of losing weight. I've shared a couple, I shall continue to share more.

In order to trick myself into exercising, I have been watching movies while on the elliptical- it passes the time really well!
-
I'll start! My favorite thing to eat when I'm craving sweets is Wonka Runts; they are relatively low in calories (60 for 12 pieces) and they take a while to eat because they're a hard candy so I get to enjoy the taste for a while when I eat them.

OMG, @Imsaa! I totally agree! I didn't even think about that! I totally used to do that when I was weighing once a week. It wasn't a big deal to have desert Monday night or Tuesday night because I wasn't weighing again until Next Monday morning! I never even thought about that but you're completely right!
-
That's a great attitude to have, Mizz_Mo! I wish I could get my mind off the number, but it's been stagnant for a week and I'm working super hard! But you're right, it's all about overall health!
-
Wow! So many responses! I usually do every day before doing anything because, like many of you I really love data.
-
@Micophilia Do you use trendweight at all? I weigh every day too to keep myself accountable, but I'm not sure how I feel about seeing gains or plateaus... @jaga13 Hahahahah!!! That's a fair response as well! LOL!

I'm honest with my hubby about my weight but he really does not care at all. I imagine he likely doesn't remember the conversations about the number of how much I weigh or have lost... He has always thought that I looked fine, so I think as long as my weight didn't get to a point where I was really unhealthy that…

^^this! I don't even actively TRY to eat protein but because I desperately try to avoid (at least white) carbs, because they don't fill me up, I almost always at least reach my protein goal for the day-if not go over. Whereas, my normal diet (high in sugar and white carbs) is lower in protein.

I agree with a lot of the other posts here. I view "cheat days" as cheating yourself. Plus, if I weighed more the next day I would lose motivation and probably just fall off the wagon. So, I have treats if it fits in my day and only if I wanted them before I realized I was under my calorie goal for the day. Even then, my…

I'm from Ottawa, but I live in Tennessee now :)

Hello! Welcome to MFP! I know you'll like it here!

I had the exact same problem this evening! I was trying to eat my protein (sliced deli turkey), but I really wanted to have extra crackers instead. So, I did. I put away the turkey and grabbed one extra serving of crackers (6 for 70 calories). I say if it's just one extra serving make a switch if you can and have it. But…

I also had a Fitbit Flex for almost two years. Really liked it until I went on vacation and now I have zero clue where it is. So, I bought a Surge and have been wearing it only a few hours. I like it so far. I trust the FitBit brand, which is why I didn't switch. I found my steps on the Flex to be completely accurate, so I…

It would be great to follow the progress of some new friends! Always great motivation to see other people's success! I would love some new friends!

I'm rooting for you!

I think that if you like it, you should do it. It can be hard to find forms of exercise that are enjoyable. I agree with the above post that weight loss happens in the kitchen, but exercise can provide tons of benefits as well and if you like it, I say go for it!

Thank you to everyone who has responded for your non-judgemental advice. My degrees are in the social sciences, linguistics and business, so diet and exercise are not my forté. I appreciate especially the articles which were very informative. Thank you to you, the community for your vibrant and caring responses.

I try to occupy myself with something else. I go bug my husband or play with my dog. If I'm still craving it later I eat a meal or a snack of something healthy along with a small portion of what I'm craving

Thank you for this, it was both interesting and entertaining. I agree about not eating back exercise calories. It can be difficult, however, especially after working up a sweat, you feel like you deserve a little something extra! (Right!?) However, I may have to go "premium" so I can avoid having the exercise calories…

Good to see two people who are as motivated as I am! Let's do this!

I'm 28 and back on the wagon! Would love more support!

I'm 5'6, pear-shaped. I'm thinking around 145, which looks good, but I wouldn't mind getting to 140 :-) only 20 pounds to go!
-
I'm in your boat! *about* 20 pounds, 160, now-hoping to get to 145, preliminarily, then re-evaluate once I get there. I gained a bunch of weight after I got married and I really want to get back into shape! I hope that we can all do this together!
