"I'm allergic to..." "I have a condition..." "My religion forbids me from eating..." "I have explosive diarrhea..." All perfectly good excuses to refuse food.

I do Starting Strength, it goes AxBxAxx, so I rest 24h after each workout, 48h on weekends.

Hi, I'm Juan, 28 yo engineer from Mexico. I started losing weight at the beginning of the year and a couple of months ago I joined the gym, and been doing Starting Strength ever since. Slow progress though, since I'm on a cut, and will be for a little while, but I feel great about myself and love lifting.

I can relate, although sometimes I overdo it and get myself into uncomfortable situations, like refusing a slice of a colleague's birthday cake, I should be more flexible in those kind of situations.

As a member of a family of smokers, although I don't smoke, I know how hard it can be to quit, great to see you want to change for the better, take one day at a time and I'm sure you'll reach your goal.

I'm always looking forward to offer support and encouragement, feel free to add me.

Oh boy, I can relate to the poor support system, just stay focused, do what trogalicious said and remember, slow and steady wins the race.

That I'm a push over because I avoid confrontations. Got me in trouble a couple of times at work. I avoid confrontations not because I'm a push over, I avoid confrontations because I'm an *kitten* when I get angry, Mr Hyde awakes and things get ugly.

Strong Lifts or Starting Strength. You'll finds tons of documentation on both programs. And watch Youtube videos for proper form.

Then it becomes just "thinking", true, we need both emotional and logical thinking to function as a human being, but the minute a thought process is corrupted by emotions it stops being logical. Say your team is a big underdog against certain team, and you decide to bet on the game. Now your logical thinkig tells you to…
-
I think emotions and logical thinkig are mutually exclusive, facts and judgement can be clouded by mood and desires.

I pee in the gym shower, but not in my own.

I nod to the regulars, and say hi to the newcomers, other than that I rarely talk to anyone unless they aproach me or I want advice from the ripped guys, then we chat between sets . But I'm a very social person so, there's that. Most people don't talk to other gym goers, they do their thing and leave, unless they went with…

I didn't witness any bullying either, maybe because we were 50 dudes surrounded by 300 girls, give or take, in my HS, we had to stick together to survive...
