  • Agree totally with the above poster. It is a very achievable goal. I actually lost 19lbs in the 1st month here and have done nothing different than what she said. I have also kept it off and lost more since then. Portion control, low sugars and healthy grains and carbs. WATER>>>WATER>>>>WATER!!!!
  • As far as your sugars go, I wouldn't worry so much about going over when you have had lots of fruits and veggies. Although make sure they are always fresh fruit and not canned in even a light syrup or their natural juices. The only way to get their natural juices is to eat them in their natural state. I would try to eat…
  • I gave up chocolate from the 1st day, the only time I have any is if it is sugar free pudding cups, or Murrays sugar free vanilla wafer cookies. Now caffeine is a different story, i will admit i have cut down dramatically going from 8-10 cups a day to just 4, but I never had the problem of it keeping me up. I still have a…
  • I wish I could help you here. I live in one of the biggest fishing ports in the US so all the fish/seafood that we eat was caught that day. Your best bet would be buying frozen. Unless you have fish markets there.
  • You might want to try not eating a bagel and avocado on the same day. There is a lot of fat in the avocado even though it is the good kind of fat. Try having the egg white on a whole grain english muffin. You could even eat 2 of them and they will give you less fat and calories than the bagel. I too am a sucka for avocado…
  • I have no advise on which is better. The reason for my comment is to say "WOW!!!!!" You are doing an amazing job. You have lost another person from your frame. Great job! A true inspiration to us all!!
  • Hi there...In the manual for my Polar F6 it states to wear it under you bra above your sternum. I think that any woman would be extremely uncomfortable wearing it over their breasts, even a 36B like myself...lol . I also have a book called "Precision Heartrate Training" and the man on the cover is wearing it exactly where…
  • a definite must try but I am going to add some grilled chicken and put in walnut pieces instead of almonds. Kens steakhouse- healthy options makes a real good raspberry walnut vinaigrette.
  • I like other poster have met my husband online in a game (Second Life). When we first met online he was married but both he and his ex-wife were looking for other people to move on with. After 6 days he flew 1/2 way across the country to surprise me for a 1st meet. At this time I was at the middle stage of my weight gain (…
  • HI Kristin, I think what you are going through we have all gone through, some of us more than once and yet some every day. Just the fact that you have reached out to us tells us that you are ready to continue on. If not then you wouldn't have signed on. You just have to remember the reasons that you are on this journey.…
  • OK scratch everything I said....LOL
  • Defintely something with carbs, and protein. Think of marathon runners the night before they pig out on pasta...lol...I wouldn't go to that extreme since it's only a 5miles compared to 26 miles. Seriously though maybe a multi grain bagel with the low fat cream cheese. I always have tremendous energy after I eat one which…
  • What a touching story. It feels like an honor that you decided to share with us such a personal heartbreaking moment in your life. If you need strength we are here for you, encouraging words we are here for you, a virtual shoulder to cry on we are here for you. Thank you for sharing, it took a lot of courage to admit a…
  • Good luck in your difficult decision making. I'm sure you have along list of pros and cons to staying in NYC. Maybe moving away for a while and rebuilding your life may be the answer, and both of you returning when you have better opportunities. I understand there is no where like NYC, but in the end your heart will lead…
  • If you have a Wii, then pop in Wii sports and play boxing. That's sure to burn some. Or better yet, go walk on the treadmill for 30 minutes, then maybe satisfy a craving ( in moderation of course). I know it's not good to reward a workout with something yummy and unhealthy but to do it this one time. It may make you…
  • I have the healthy eating down, and I have promised my fiance when I reach my GW I will quit smoking. There is no way I could do both at the same time. Good Luck on your journey to a new healthy way of living. Remember we are not "dieting", we are making a lifestyle change. Like any road there are bumps, for every bump…
  • My advise to you is to mix it up a little. Work upper body like Wii Active boxing or just a punching bag, and then legs another day, mid section another day. I find when I go on the treadmill too many days in a row then I can't walk either. Just a thought! I also have a job where I am on m y feet all shift long.
  • Hi Kristen, Welcome to MFP. I find the site is a great motivational tool in itself. There are so many healthy foods to eat. For pre-workout try some low sugar oatmeal, and a banana. Munchie food to eat through the day could be carrots/celery with some hummus. It sounds awful but really is good and good for you. I also eat…
  • That is the funniest, most truthful thing I have heard in a long time. Absolutely fabulous!!
  • WOW...it's all i got. I agree with everyone to say complain, and I know you will. Hope it works out in your favor!!
  • try eatbetteramerica.com they have a cpl there and nutrtional content is listed as well as ways to make it more healthier. Some of the reviews are very helpful.
  • WOW I read about this on another topic. I am soon to be 38 and believe me I don't look my age. I never have so now I'm being told by someone probably not even old enough to drink that I can't wear a bikini because of my birth year. Honey when you get here please reconsider the stupid s**t that came out of your mouth at a…
  • Well me and my fiance have been on MFP since 1/10 and I told him from the beginning that we could have 2 cheat meals a month. Last month we used one at Cold Stone Creamery (cheat snack or lunch as it turned out).We have yet to have another. He went out to eat with friends from work and ordered something not so healthy last…
  • HI Starr, you have come to the right place. It takes hard work, and will power on your part, but we are all here to cheer you on and offer advise and words of encouragement. Dust off those cob webs, crank up the music and walk your way to a happier you. Once you have started eating healthy you will be amazed at how much…
  • HI, there is a cool site where you can put all your ingredients and portion sizes and it calculates all the nutritional info for you. Or you can just add all the ingredients to your diary and save it as a meal for a later time. Here is the link to the 1st site I was telling you about.…
  • LOL I never read the directions for this. I would cut the broth out or use it for a cheese sauce and bake it in the oven. LOL
  • It sound yummy. The broth and pasta is easy to substitute, but what worries me is the cheese. Even using LF will not really change the overall calorie count by much. Maybe make a beshamel (sp) sauce with unsweetend milk and a LF butter spread, and maybe top with some Panko breadcrumbs, or add some instant oats. IDK, just…
  • Hi MLE...My fiance is from MO ( St.Joe's and most recently Holt). He moved to MA to be with me and I have to say the ocean is like 10 minutes from our house. I'm actually making my 1st trip to MO next week. Haha he was asking his Mom what historical sites he could show me that could top The Atlantic Ocean,Plymouth Rock,…
