  • I don't see how any website can be accurate for calorie burn since it doesn't know what your heart rate was during the workout. The only true way to get it is by wearing a heart rate monitor. You tend to burn sometimes more than twice what a website will tell you for the same exercise.
  • Welcome aboard! it is a fantastic site. Hope you get everything from it that you are looking for!
  • I have had my HRM for over a year and I love it. It's the Polar F6. I got it online for $70 delivered. You can always check on ebay for one as well. I wear it only for exercise or any activity that it out of my normal routine. Like on Sundays I clean a Dr.'s office which has 7 exam rooms, 2 large waiting areas, a reception…
  • In my house we have skim milk, unsweetened soy milk, and unsweetened almond milk at all times. Each milk has it's own uses. I prefer skim milk in my cereal, where my husband like the almond milk in his. I use the soy milk in my milk frother for lattes and in my smoothies since it has less sugar. The shelf life is so much…
  • My husband and I have been using ground turkey in everything for the past 3 yrs. I make turkey burgers with them and they are delicious. I usually add about 1/2c panko bead crumbs to spread it a little bit and some basic spices, oregano, black pepper. We do add some calories by having them on Portuguese sweet rolls, and…
  • It's so funny you asked this today after shoveling snow for 40 minutes then trekking up to the 3rd floor I decided to stop my HRM once my HR went down to 117. The highest it was, was 181. I think from now on i am going to stop it once I've cooled down a bit.
  • My husband and I have the Polar models. I have the F6 and he has the F5. We absolutely love them.
  • My opinion on protein powders is sure they have protein but a lot of other unnecessary ingredients. Your better off having peanut butter. My husband took a nutritional science class and he found them to be useless. If your worried about getting your vitamins and nutrients take a multi vitamin geared to you.
  • there is always upper body exercises you can do like arm circles, or lifting your feet onto a short aerobic step, anything that moves you is exercise
  • The natural sugars in fruits and veggies is fine. It's the processed sugars that you should worry about. I eat a lot of sugar free snacks, but most days I go over on my sugars as well. They have sugar free cookies by murrays that are good and sugar free jello pudding cups as well. If you are adding syrup to pancakes, get a…
  • Tom's Diner - Suzanne Vega....I use it for the cool down period
  • You can also try eatbettteramerica.com they have a section for cooking for 2 and you can always pack the leftover for lunch the next day. The best thing you can do is just stay away from lean cuisine meals, or anything like it. They are ultra high in sodium. My favorite lunch right now is a turkey bacon BLT. I would eat it…
  • As long as we are moving then we are burning. I do something similar on the treadmill too. I walk the 1st 2 minutes then run 5.....walk 1.5 then run 6....walk 1 min then run 7....then start over ....i usually go about 35-40 minutes. This is after I do a wii workout of either the Biggest Loser Challenge or Wii Active. What…

My slow cooker works really fast do I can put this on high and…
  • I'm not even trying the nonsmoking route yet. I started MFP last last January and fter our vacation in March we fell off the wagon, am glad I only gained back 13lbs. of the 35 I lost. Once I get to my goal then I will try to quit smoking. i do find that I smoke less when eating healthier and working out though. Good Luck…
  • you can always try adding a flavor packet like wylers or crystal light. I add a single serve packet to a liter of water nad it's just enough to get over the blah taste of regular water.
  • Guilty!!! There I said it, i eat a snack every night while I read to make myself tired. I get home from work at 12:30am 2-3x a week so I don't even go to bed until around 3-4am. I have still been losing weight. My snack is always dried cereal, SpecialK, Wheaties or Cheerios. The only time I don't to the extreme late night…
  • Well I work in a job that has me working a mix of day/night shifts. When I work the night shift I sometimes buy the Healthy Choice Cafe Steamer in Sweet Sesame Chicken for dinner, the most I have it is 3x a month, there is only 330mg of sodium in it, and I very very rarely go over in my sodium.
  • they make an unsweetened soy milk as well.....it has a lot more protein in it than the unsweetened almond milk. I still buy skim milk by the qt now since i only use it for cereal and cook and serve sugar free chocolate pudding. I usually snack on dry cereal, cheerios, Special K, wheaties. SpecialK has more sodium than the…
  • My breakfast smoothie... i seriously make this every morning, great for before or after a workout!! 1 scoop total lean shake protein powder Vanilla bean (from GNC) 1/3 cup frozen blueberries 1 1inch slice of pineapple 3-4 frozen strawberries ( i buy quarts fresh on sale then cut them up and freeze them, cheaper than buying…
  • Hi there, 1200 cal. is the minimum you should eat so I think being 300 under is fine as long as you got nutrient rich foods in. Just remember if you exercise you should also eat some of your calories back. Here hoping for some positive results!!
  • Let me know what you think of it!! Right now GNC has the Total Lean on sale buy 1 get 1 1/2 off...Not bad I bought one and it came with a $5 cpn so I will be there later in the week to take advantage of the sale, so it will only cost me $40 for 2 containers of it.
  • Well we still use our everyday dinner plates for dinner. They are large square plates in brick red, olive green, and off white. It doesn't matter how big or small the plate is, what matters is how much food you put on it. We don't precisely measure our food, but I know if I have more veggies than starch on my plate. If I…
