  • Ha! Or going over your calories by 100. "Worst day EVER."
  • I see what you did there. I would never correct someone on it (because only turds do stuff like that), but yeah, it does drive me nuts. It's such a simple word!
  • Why would you feel bad if you hit your calorie goal?? Eat that shizzz.
  • Not really a phrase, but it drives me crazy when people misspell "lose" as "loose." Two different words, folks.
  • But...but....KETONES!! Seriously, this is fantastic advice. I have tried losing weight before but I never thought of it as a lifestyle change, and I always ate too few calories while working out harder than I could handle. Warning: burn out imminent. Now that I'm keeping up with these forums and reading a lot about how to…
  • Of course you can have it! If it fits into your daily goals, go for it.
  • Because surely if you can't pronounce an ingredient or know what it looks like, it is bad. Right? Here's olive oil. Scary stuff. Here's an apple. Yikes!
  • I alternate between Land O' Lakes salted whipped butter and that Brummel & Brown Yogurt Butter stuff. I like both. Real butter has more calories, so sometimes I will use the yogurt butter, but I really do like both. If you're scared of ingredients that you can't pronounce (which doesn't mean they're bad, by the way), then…
  • Seriously, though, meal timing has no bearing on weight loss. Eat up!
  • It sounds like you're asking whether or not the numbers should be considered the minimum you should have in one day, the maximum, or the goal. If this is true, I view my macro goals as true goals, so I try to hit them as close to dead-on as a I can. They certainly aren't maximums, as I've heard people say. You shouldn't be…
  • Is it because of the scene in Mallrats? "Listen, not a year goes by, not a year, that I don't hear about some escalator accident involving some *kitten* kid which could have easily been avoided had some parent - I don't care which one - but some parent conditioned him to fear and respect that escalator."
  • I have generally cut down on my caffeine consumption because it gives my ol' panic attacks a little kick in the *kitten*, so now when I drink a ton and my heart races, I genuinely think I'm going to die. haha. Not good. But I still love coffee and soda...just gotta watch how many I have in one day or I'll end up in the…
  • I don't chew gum (got a bit of the ol' TMJ and it aggravates it), but if I did, I probably wouldn't log one piece. Other things I don't log: herbs and spices, hot sauce, and mints. I don't really stress over tiny things. Everything is an estimate, so I figure as long as I am diligent with 99% of my intake, I'm good. I…
  • No good reason to cut carbs. Just cut your calories and you'll be successful. Good luck! :)
  • You have no idea how giddy I just got reading this. Damn. Effing Joffrey.
  • I have a question. Let me know if I am just an idiot and missed this....but did we ever actually find out who tried to kill Bran at the beginning? I know it was Littlefinger's sword, but who hired the dude to come kill Bran? I don't remember the show actually giving us a straight answer about this. Do the novels reveal it…
  • So you're telling me that when my friends post things like "Burned 1,259 calories doing 45 minutes of Aerobics (low impact)" it's not accurate?? Yeah, I actually laughed out loud at a story on my feed yesterday when one of my friends logged over 2,000 calories burned from just over an hour of exercise. Something…
  • Just to add: I was sitting in a campus cafe the last week doing some grading, and I overheard a ridiculous conversation about nutrition coming from the other table. Two medical students. Some of the gems: Eating after 7pm will automatically turn everything into fat because you don't burn calories when you're sleeping. Junk…
  • Thanks! I will try to start doing this...only I will go REAL slow. I didn't like being about to sit on the john without crying out in pain. hahaha.
  • This seriously made me laugh. Poor kid. haha
  • My favorite thread of the day. One day I will squat. I tried body weight squats a few weeks ago and royally screwed myself up. I couldn't walk for days! Eventually I will try again. I am inspired by all the fabulous booties here!
  • Lots of good suggestions!
  • I get that you are encouraging the OP to try to eat healthier, but what you are saying is still factually incorrect. You can eat anything and as long as you maintain a calorie deficit, you will lose weight. Obviously you should try to also get enough protein, fat, and carbs, but weight loss really boils down to caloric…
  • Also, I don't consider any food to be naughty or bad, so I don't feel like I'm cheating if I eat...well, anything. I think that terminology is silly and only serves to make people feel guilty about eating food and increases the likelihood of failure (because when you feel like an idiot for eating it can totally trigger a…
  • Me too. Just did one this week (I'll admit it wasn't planned, though!). Ate at maintenance and I feel just fine about that. As long as you don't go wild and eat above TDEE, you won't actually gain weight, though your weight loss may slow down. In general, I am more interested in my weekly goal than many daily goal, so I…
  • Agreed. That post is a great place to start. Helped me figure things out pretty quickly and I realized right away that I needed to be eating way more than MFP suggested (even when it was set at 1 lb per week!). Check it out, OP.
  • That's a great campaign. It reminds us that it doesn't have to be the most complicated thing in the world. Simple changes add up! I hate to see my friends who want to get healthy, get in shape, lose weight, whatever, and they go like 200% for a couple weeks and then just burn out. It's not about going crazy with this…
  • Except losing weight *does* depend on creating a calorie deficit. You can eat as healthy as you want, but if you're doing it in excess, you WILL gain weight. OP, what is your daily calorie goal? You need to make sure you're eating enough for your height, weight, age, and activity level.
  • What's your calorie goal every day? And what are your protein, fat, and carb goals? My go-to snacks might not work for you if your goals are significantly different than mine, but I like eating snacks like nuts and berries to up my daily intake.
  • The basic point is that there is not enough willpower in the world to make me eat 1200 calories a day and to run 2 miles in the morning (which would be way more than I could do at this point), but that I don't need to do extreme things like that in the first place. Make it easier on yourself, create sustainable lifestyle…
