I just can't help but get involved in hypocritical, self-righteous threads. It's like an addiction of mine. Also, can we all move on from this silly idea that "support" is always awesome? Sometimes "support" is really just enabling someone's bad idea, and if we were all really being supportive, we would jump all over bad…

I just need to be involved in this thread...so...bump.

One more: around the holidays my husband and I would always buy a pack of graham crackers and a container of cream cheese frosting, and we would finish both in one sitting. Dip the graham crackers into the frosting and enjoy. Mmm. I miss doing that. Haha. Okay, so I guess I'm not disgusted by that one. In fact, I now have…

I used to eat ramen noodles (not the real kind, the Maruchan kind) like it was nobody's business. All the time. Not only that, I would add all kinds of salt and stuff to it, because the 1,600 mg of sodium was clearly not enough. Why did I like them so much? They're not even that good.

Agree with most of what's been said. There's nothing you can really do to motivate yourself if you don't really want it. Motivation isn't something that can magically appear, you know? It comes from a real desire to achieve a goal. If you're not passionate, you're not ready for this long, hard road. However, don't get too…

This thread got really sad and embarrassing...Seriously, if you are an adult and your self worth is wrapped up in what you did in high school, or how cool you think you were, that is pathetic. To bring it up like it matters is even more pathetic, not to mention irrelevant. Feeling kind of depressed at the gargantuan levels…

Completely agree. I have been around since June and I lurk...A LOT. I've seen all kinds of stuff on here, but what I don't often see (I'm not saying never) is total douchebaggery aimed at someone who is seriously asking for feedback, or who has made it clear that they have done some research, they're still confused, and…

I've only skimmed this thread, but it seems wildly entertaining, so I am jumping on board so I can read it later. Paganism? Primates? Jonathan Swift? Yeah...reading this later.

Bummer. Luckily I only eat back some of my exercise calories, so if I think I burned 300 cals, I will usually eat 100 of them. Good thing, I guess, if it's that inaccurate. I knew that machines and HRMs weren't accurate, but that seems monumentally wrong. When I walk on a treadmill for 35 mins and I enter in my info, it…

Uhhh...
-
Warning: I have no real evidence other than my own anecdotal evidence. Also, I'm totally out of shape, so walking gets my HR up pretty quickly. This might not apply to people who are fit. Haha. When I wear my HRM, my calorie burns are not much different if I am working harder (unless it's significantly harder). Example: if…

"The Gang Solves the Sugar Crisis." For all the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia fans lurking the forums tonight. Imagine it...

Agreed! Walking is a great way to start exercising. Most importantly, weight loss is primarily diet, so don't stress out if you aren't able to go nuts at the gym right away. Eat right, track your calories, and do what you can in terms of exercise and you will start to notice big changes.

Does it count if you cut off a foot or a hand? Otherwise, I think it is probably pretty unlikely. If you're a former bodybuilder, you already know that a lot of it is going to be muscle, so why would you want to do it anyway?

Trolls love trolling.

Bummer. I'm always late to the party. Crazy train's departed for the night. Next time!
-
Haha. Wow. Fingers crossed that the gifs will flow freely in this thread. Also, someone obviously needs a nap.
-
What are your goals? Do you want to lose weight, maintain, put on muscle? That info will determine how you approach this situation. You're absolutely not eating enough, though. That's too low for the vast majority of adults.

Bumping to read later. I cannot tell you how excited I am to see research on here.

Oh, hey, another thread about the meanies on MFP. A thread asking that we all just "support" one another (you know, even when supporting means enabling bad behavior). How refreshing.
-
Exactly this.
-
Regardless, just do what works best for you.
-
The phrase isn't misleading. It is: *IF* it fits your macros, why can't you eat it? There's no reason why I can't eat a treat, IF IT FITS MY MACROS. So if you're eating the treat and also going over, then you're doing it wrong. Period.
-
That is true, and we should be celebrating that fact. It seems like a well-guarded secret around MFP these days.
-
Who resurrected this thread? Haha.
-
I just want to get in here before the lock. Also, it's not shaming if the behavior is straight up dangerous. For most people, 1000 cals is dangerous, and I'm glad that the MFP forums generally doesn't tolerate that kind of eating.

It's a bummer to see so many straw man arguments on here. It's really easy to dismiss feminism when you refuse to characterize it fairly, though, so I understand why people are resorting to logical fallacies. Feminism, as I said before, comes in many varieties and in many different degrees. That means that there *are*…
