  • Yeap. I've lost >150lbs exercising and not exercising much at all over the years. With exercise you can eat significantly more but you spend more time of course doing exercise (which can be a good or bad thing depending on your life.) Without it you have to watch your calories much more strictly but you can still lose…
  • Watch the bad science in this thread, a lot of people obviously don't know the difference between intermittent fasting and normal fasting. The answer is... almost any diet if followed correctly will result in you LOSING weight. That said, is intermittent fasting something you're planning on doing forever? If not you may…
  • If you're losing weight your diet is fine. You don't get a fat *kitten* or fat gut from what you eat you get it from excess body fat which is caused by excess calories. If your body has excess protein it gets stored as... fat. if it has excess carbs it gets stored as... fat. If it has excess fat it gets stored as... fat.…
  • Yes. All that is (effectively) required to lose weight is a calorie deficit below your effective TDEE. 500 calories per day per lb per week, unless you're obese you shouldn't be looking at more than roughly 1lb/week though and as you near your goal the gap should continue to get smaller to make the transition to…
  • There isn't a single mindset and function that works for everyone. Do you really think there will never be a day in your life where you eat far more than your planned calories for the rest of your life?
  • Free day in the sense of "eat what you want" is good. Free day in the sense "don't log it" is bad. Here's the reasoning, if for some reason your free day calorie intake could get high enough to derail your weight loss for the week do you want to know exactly why you didn't lose or do you want to be wondering? Right. So...…
  • People on a 1200 calorie diets often feel like "I can't gain weight" and often do really stupid things like "eyeball portions" where people on higher calorie diets are paranoid and double check everything... that is often the difference between gaining and losing (Fun Fact: The higher your calorie deficit, the less ability…
  • The simple reality is this: Sometimes. Adaptive thermogenesis is a real thing, but most people here spouting off about you're eating too little don't have enough information up front to diagnosis it as that. The truth is... most often, it's a) double dipping exercise calories doing tdee, b) not weighing food and…
  • She's functionally getting 1h of "moderate" or higher exercise per week. She's sedentary. One of the biggest mistakes people make that prevent weight loss is over estimating their activity level.
  • Sounds like it's time to find a new doctor. While your doctor shouldn't claim to be a dietician there is a lot a doctor can do to support and ensure you remain healthy during weight loss or can sometimes even refer you to a dietician for additional help. Sounds like your doctor is on cruise control for collecting co-pays.…
  • http://beverageinstitute.org/us/expert/laying-the-caffeine-dehydration-myth-to-rest/ Generally speaking, caffeinated beverages DO contribute to your water intake each day... our bodies are really good at developing tolerances to things like caffeine.
  • Here's the short short version. If you weight between 140-170 lbs, you're performing steady state cardio activities, and monitoring heart rate... The calculations are pretty good. If you weigh outside that range, are not performing steady state cardio, and aren't monitoring your cardio... The calculations are abysmal. All…
  • Lb of Bacon. Oven. 350, 25m each side. Crispy, tasty, bacon. Just sayin'
  • There were in the 80s too ;o) I'm sapiosexual and while I know, logically, that glasses are no indication of intelligence... that isn't how my libido views things upfront before I reality check it. If glasses functioned as an absolute qualifier either way-- someone is doing something wrong, entirely.
  • Exact opposite actually, girls in glasses are hawt.
  • You're going to do SOMETHING when you're depressed and emotional, be it eat, cry, etc.. replace eating with something else like running or beating a punching bag, etc. After a while that kinda becomes second nature, helps with stress eating a lot.
  • Fun fact 1) Because bananas contain potassium they can kill in high enough quantities... but it's an absurd amount. Fun fact 2) They're also astoundingly high in radiation compared to most other foods. Fun fact 3) The 'average' banana has about 110 calories. If you eat more than TDEE you gain weight no matter what it is.…
  • I make a quick "ghetto curry" that is pretty respectable (taste wise, calling this curry to anyone who knows curry would probably result in me getting beat up by a wandering squad of Indians who find my bastardization of their cuisine to be unacceptable) and named a pox on their food forever more. Chick Peas, 1 container…
  • Man tiff, you're a necromancer.
  • Set the goal where you believe it should be. If you've not recently been anywhere near the goal weight, *be willing to modify it* when you get down there. You may find at 150 you're completely happy and don't want to be any thinner or you may find that you need to drop a few more lbs. Listen to your body. According to BMI…
  • See: http://www.flamewarriorsguide.com/ It contains the wisdom of the internet on all types you might meet on a forum... from the Big Cat to the Godzilla to the Cyber Sisters. Be enlightened. Be wise.
  • I don't recommend it, but i once lost significant weight (~60lbs) eating nothing but terrible fast food for a few months (to prove a point to someone on a 'mcdonalds is making everyone fat' kick) Calories in vs Calories out for strictly weightloss. You don't have a lot to lose, nothing wrong with some eggs, or bananas, or…
  • You'll have your good days and bad days, we all do... but your attitude here is one of the best I've seen on MFP. Keep the attitude and I expect you'll be one of the many long term success stories. The hardest and first step is admitting to yourself what is really up... it's damn hard.
  • So basically, what you're saying... is... you're losing at what most consider a rapid weight but you want to be special and different than everyone else and lose weight far far far faster than you were ever able to put it on. Mkay. Reality check, you didn't get fat in a couple months, you're not going to get thin in a…
  • Skinny people DO have fast metabolisms... mostly from moving more than fat people. Although to be fair, there have also been studies that show over long periods the difference between a fat and skinny person is roughly 50 calories a day and skinny people tend to estimate calories better.
  • Protip: recently defined as legalized (in the usa, http://www.wormwoodsociety.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=187&Itemid=1)
  • This. There are very real issues attributable to many parasites (especially various intestinal worms, thread worms, brain parasites, etc) but in this case... and without a medical diagnosis and treatment... *shrug*. There are no parasites that enjoy humans as hosts that have any issue with how oxygenated our blood…
  • Staying hydrated is important for living period. It does nothing magical however. Drinking a glass of water before a meal helps you fill up quicker though.
  • Log everything good bad and otherwise... even if you've given up for the day log it. Helps keep you honest and on track.
  • http://lmgtfy.com/?q=what+is+slimming+world&l=1 Basically a weight loss org like weight watchers, etc... they have meal plans, support groups, and exercise routines. Pretty popular in the UK apparently.
