Today has been a total loss! For whatever reason, I slept 10 hours and then fell asleep again and slept 2 more hours! So I slept through breakfast, lunch, and I'm really hungry right now. I have to be careful not to eat all the calories I have left at this point in the day or I'll never get to sleep! Same with exercise.…

Wednesday was a pretty good day for me. I came in under my calories and actually hit my goal of 8 glasses of water. No exercise, though, as I've not really got a schedule down right now, so by the time I have access to the treadmill, it's 7 at night and would just keep me awake all night. I am house sitting, so as of…

Hi, Laurie! I just restarted two weeks ago. The calorie counting and nutrition is very similar to Weight Watchers, but free and there's a good chance to build support on the groups and boards. I have been so much more aware of what I'm eating since I restarted two weeks ago. I also am far more aware of how much sugar I…

I'm very motivated this week! I weighed in before going to lunch with a friend today. Smart girl, I am! I lost 1.2 lbs last week for a total of 5.6 lbs over the past two weeks. It's not showing up on my counter yet, because when I started originally, I weighed five pounds less than when I started over two weeks ago, and I…

Today was a much better day! I stayed under my calories, although I didn't exercise. Tomorrow morning I'll weigh and see if the week was a success, weight-wise.

Thought I was on facebook for a second and tried to "like" your button!

You've done much better than me with exercise! I've been patting myself on the back for 8 minutes of walking on the treadmill. LOL

After yesterday's debacle, I'm making a serious effort to think ahead with my food and exercise choices. I weigh on Mondays, so I have two days to make up for my "poor me" eating of yesterday evening. Yikes. I think tomorrow, Sunday, will be my measurement day. I have not taken measurements in years, so this will probably…

I'm a day late, but better late than never, I guess. The day started off well, with three glasses of water by mid-morning. However, after running errands for several hours in the Florida heat and glare, I developed a fairly "good" migraine headache. Spent the afternoon and evening just waiting for bedtime. In the process,…

Wed. Check-in.... Today has been a success, calorie-wise, although health-wise, it's been terrible. I skipped lunch and ate pizza for dinner after a night of insomnia left me exhausted and worthless today. And since I've been making up for last night's lack of sleep, I've been napping instead of drinking my water. The…

Since this is my first week, I hadn't set a specific goal. This week, however, my goal is to lose 1 pound and exercise at least 3 days. I also plan to take my measurements, something I've avoided doing like the plague. Then I'll be able to set goals for body measurements as well. Today my goal was just to get my migraine…

I just joined this group, and I also have chronic migraine. This past week has been more or less migraine week, with the occasional break. Maybe we can figure out ways to figure out how to stay on track when we aren't well enough to deal with exercise and perfect eating. I am too old to just be figuring this out, but it…

Nickname: Queendebor, because my name is Deb, but my college roomies back in the day called me Debor. The queen part is for the kingdom I rule in my imagination. It's a very nice place. However, Deb works just fine. Why I'm here: I am 55 and at my highest weight ever. I am at the point where any physical exertion makes me…

A great question, and one that requires self-examination. I am 55 and have been overweight since spring of 8th grade. That's when my mom had her first heart attack. I have dieted and not dieted like a rollercoaster for a good 40 years. As of yesterday, I weigh more than at any other point in my life. I have also had…

I am starting again after being gone for a long time. Taking care of my elderly dad has taken it's toll, but the good news is that I've lost some of the weight I'd regained when I stopped tracking my food and exercise. I figured I'd use the momentum from that to kick it into high gear and work on losing the rest of the…

I'm so glad to find this thread still going. I sort of fell off the face of the earth earlier this year, but I'm trying to give myself another chance. I had gained back all my weight and then some, but good old stress helped me lose 14 lbs. so now I'm going to use my "running start" to get back to healthy eating and…

I am glad to be back on mfp after a month "hiatus". Migraine and work knocked me off track, but I'm on a week's vacation and hope to get back to it. My son even drove to my house this morning at 7 am to make sure I went to the gym. He is very supportive and that helps immensely. And in the past month, I've only gained one…

I loooovve ice cream! And I've found I can actually have some if I do it right. I wait until after dinner to see if I have the calories left. Depending on what I have left, I can often have a half cup or a cup. That's not very much, but I savor it. And I use my metal measuring cups to scoop it out so I know for sure how…

I do drink a Coke or Pepsi most days - even though I know it's loaded with sugar. However, I can personally attest to the fact that I am having trouble getting in all my water, because I fill myself up on Coke in the morning, which leaves little room for the three glasses of water I SHOULD be drinking and have sitting next…

I will have to read this over and over and over. What a wonderful reminder that it's the sticking with it that works, not doing it perfectly. Thank you!

These are all fantastic ideas! I am going to get me some jars and marbles, and start putting money aside.

I noticed you just joined mfp this month. Did you lose all seven pounds this month? If so, you may be eating too few calories, which causes your metabolism to slow down. One to two pounds a week is what most reputable health and fitness experts recommend. Just a thought. Whatever the cause, don't give up!

Your story is one I'll remind myself of whenever I start thinking, "I can't", "It'll never happen", "It's too hard". Thank you so much for sharing your experience!

I am beyond broke til payday, so I'm using a free app on my phone - walkroid. Sounds painful, doesn't it?

My son-in-law is from Wisconsin and a Packers fan, also! In face, he gave my daughter a big Tervis tumbler with a Packers logo on it this Christmas. LOL Thanks for putting the January goal up. Now I know what to shoot for without having to do the math myself. And, oh my gosh, four kids from 6 to newborn?? You HAVE…

Thanks, Mindi! It will be a great way to stay accountable. Tomorrow I'm going to load up on Advil and do some hiking at our local Preserve!

I plan on forcing one of my kids to take a photo of me each month, starting tomorrow! My hope is that in December of 2012 I can post before and after pics like so many people have. Those photos are very inspiring to me!

Walking is tough for me right now, since I have arthritic hips and ankles and bad knees. So.... I'm gonna give it a go! I have 365 days. We'll see if I make it. I figure even if I don't, I'll have walked a whole lot farther than I would without the challenge. I'm in!

I was raised never to throw food away. My parents were raised during the Depression, so we ate everything on our plates. It wasn't until I went for counseling for my weight issues that I was reminded that it is just as wasteful to put food into a body that doesn't need it as it is to throw it out. It was an epiphany for me!
