Be careful with the oil! It's a lot of calories and doesn't add much (if anything) to the taste. I cut out all the oil from all my stir-frys and they taste just as good with fewer calories. Excellent sauces are: lemon/lime juice, soy sauce, balsamic vinegar, and spices. Just be careful with the soy sauce because it has a…

I just saw this post. 24 days ago I said I would run every day for the next 30 days, and I've kept it up. I'm at 124 mi for September already :) It's a lot easier to exercise when I know that I have to do it every day and can't decide to take a rest day. Although my knees are starting to hurt a little bit

The fermented soy (tempeh, natto) recommendation is something I've heard many times over. Otherwise, the science might be there that soy is bad for you but it's hard to tell since I wasn't able to find the science studies from your links, and some of the links led to biased sources (those with an anti-soy agenda). Perhaps…

Here my experience. I used to run 10 mi a week (lame!) and would drink too much booze and eat too much junk food. I had gained almost 30 pounds! 3 months ago I started MFP and through a change in diet and added cardio, I have lost all of the weight (just a couple of pounds left). I now run almost daily, and did a…

Might I suggest Phood protein powder? It's more of a meal replacement. It tastes great and hits a lot of key nutritional goals. It's vegan and is soy-free. Available on Amazon

I've been vegan for over 10 years and substitute almond and soy milk for anything that asks for cow milk. Everything works out fine. YMMV and it is going to be dependent on what you're cooking.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with smoothies provided that you're only putting in healthy things. Fruit is typically at least half fructose which is slow burning. People often don't eat that much fruit to begin with, so it would be unwise to skip it just because it has a bit of sugar. It's a small hit in calories/sugar…

Are you sure it's you and not your clothes? Bacteria *love* to eat our sweat which leads to some smelly clothes. If you're not washing them well enough and then putting them back on then the bacteria is still there and will make your clothes smelly. I doubt it's your food, but that's just my 2c.

1) Many veg*ns (including myself) grew up eating meat, and thus like the familiarity of the products. There can be a significant overlap period while people transition. 2) It allows for direct substitutions in recipes and social gatherings. Example: veggie chicken strips for fajitas, and tofu dogs for BBQs. 3) Meatless…

I've been vegan for over 10 years. I lost weight at the start, but then years of poor eating habits and too much drinking packed on an extra 30 points (I'm getting there though!) MFP was exactly what I needed as it showed me exactly where I was overeating: too much junk food (chips, candy, and cookies) and way too much…

First, take everything everyone says on here with a pinch of salt. Perhaps the best thing to do is to talk to a nutritionist. I'm wondering about starvation mode and calories as well as I'm full on fewer than 1200 calories every day.

...well at least there is an anti-sugar (as an additive) revolution brewing. I knew it was mainstream when I saw Heinz ketchup with a "Less Sugar!" option. (Side note: low-sugar ketchup actually tastes better IMHO). Once we stop adding buckets of sugar to everything, we'll all be healthier and thinner!

Woah....thanks so much justsomerando!! I get very frustrated on MFP with all the layman speculation and anecdotes. It's good to see some solid science and reasoning.

It would seem that the cdc recommends only 46g of protein per day for adult women. I'm not sure where your 100+g is coming from

To those confused by the question, I believe it is because Weight Watchers allows unlimited fruit and veggies. (That's what I hear anyways...)

Lets do it! Best of luck!
