The amount of calories to add back in is very individualized. I initially added all the calories back that MFP recommended, but found that I gained a couple pounds in the 1st month. So, I changed it to an increase of about 150 or so calories a day and eat back about 1/2 my exercise calories, and that seems to be good for…

I use Zumba as part of my weekly workouts. I also do some strength work and running. As others have said, if you give it your all and push yourself it's a great workout and super fun! Our instructor is very high energy and doesn't use all Latin/hip hop but even throws in some country, Footloose, Michael Jackson. The energy…

I beat them all at 22.7. Whether it's the BMI or the % that are overweight, this is a very serious statement about the health of this country.

Was it 2 servings of salad in the salad? I've had that happen before! I don't know of any salmon that would allow you 7 oz for that calorie/protein/fat allottment.

I spend about $1000-1200 a month for 4+ people. My daughter is in college and is home every other weekend and I usually make some things for her to bring back to school as well. There are 2 teen age boys in the mix and they have hollow legs!! I could probably get by a bit cheaper if I hit all the sales at the various…

You need some protein in that breakfast. Skip the nutrigrain bar. Switch to 1% milk. You need WAY more veggies. Go to wheat bread. Cut back on the cheese- one thin slice. Trying to eat this same food day after day is going to get old. Have oatmeal for breakfast one day. Or poached/hardboiled/scrambled eggs with whole wheat…

.5 to 1 pound per week is healthy weight loss. You're still in the range. I know it seems slow, but it's the best way to do it. Just keep up the good work!

I've found that certain veggies the night before will make the situation worse for me. Salad is a HUGE no-no. This was a learning process for me and not a fun one! I do get up early enough to try to make things happen before I go and usually I'm successful. But I've also had this issue when running in the evening. That's…

After reading all the posts, I would double your water and get your NET calories up to 1200 calories.

LIke another post mentioned, spaghetti sauce is a great way to get veggies in. I run them through my food processor to hide them. I like them but my step son does not. You can also do that with chili. I"ve added peppers, mushrooms, zucchini, carrots, onion, tomatoes, without anyone being the wiser. I also make a chicken…

Not good. Will gain it all back as soon as you stop- and maybe more. Would continue to do things right and don't worry about a couple of pounds.

A bit of both. My breakfast I decide in the morning. During the week I bring my lunch, so I prelog that. Since I typically cook supper and plan ahead of time, I will add that early as well. Helps me plan portions at supper, depending on what I have left. This may also spur a longer work out so I can eat more :). I usually…

Start by eating your maintenance calories. That is how this site is set up. I have a friend who actually had to add about 250 calories a day on rest days to maintain. I've found I had to cut my maintenance calories by about 250 or I gain. Each of us is different, so the amounts here are guidelines. But the general idea…

I have on occasion "robbed Peter to pay Paul." I would eat your base calories tomorrow, but not eat back your exercise calories. I wouldn't make a habit of that, but used sparingly, I think it's a good method of balancing things.

Thanks everyone...I guess I have to just do what the doctor says and take it easy. I'm having one of those bladder slings done. My bladder is falling and I think it will only get worse as I get older. But, although I really don't want to go thru the surgery, I really can't wait to benefit from the results. I gained like 80…

I set long term goals- like a 5K, then a 10K, then a 1/2 marathon. That gives me long term focus. For the day to day (and this is much harder), I have friends I exercise with frequently and that accountability piece is very helpful. Other times, I just have to pull out the Nike ad and..."Just Do It." I have had to tell…

This is very common!! I'm finding that even at goal. What my mental image of me at goal was isn't quite what it looks like. Not that I'm unhappy; just a bit surprised. Cellulite is still there on the back of my thighs- just lots less. I still have saddle bags, though they are MUCH smaller. Still have "grandma arms" but…

I haven't personally, but have had patients who have. You will be able to walk, and will most likely be encouraged to do so no matter what surgery it is. May not be at "exercise" levels, it will be activity. Make sure your diet stays very healthy to promote healing and follow doctor's orders. Ask specific questions about…

No way to stop this- it will occur. And it seems to be in reverse relationship to how badly you want it to stay. If you're praying to keep them the same size, you lose more. If you're hoping to lose lots, the change isn't as obvious. Seriously, boobs are primarily made of fat- and fat is what you're trying to lose. So they…

I use Brownberry double fiber wheat bread. I can get 2 loaves at Sam's Club for the price of what one costs in the store. Love it! It has 5 grams of fiber per slice and tastes really good!

I followed the Green Bay 1/2 marathon training program and it worked really well! I tried to find the link, but you now have to sign in to get to it and I didn't run the Green Bay. So, here is the training plan for the last 7 weeks: Week 1: 5,6,8 and 30 minutes cross training Week 2: 4,7,9.5 and 30 minutes CT, Week 3:…

I agree with Berry H. You could try increasing your speed a bit and see what happens. If it proves to be too much, slow it back down. When I started running I was about a 12 minute miler. I ran about 10 minute miles in my 1/2 marathon- and that is as fast as I seem to be able to go for any distance. I've tried to go faster…

It really depends on how much weight you have to lose in the 1st place. If it's a fairly significant amount, it might take 30-50 pounds before it becomes noticeable on the outside. But I promise you, your body is thanking you! It decreases the pressure on your knees, it drops your blood pressure, lowers your cholesterol,…

I don't typically worry too much about natural sugars, but more the refined kind. I have found that when I got close to maintenance and now in maintenance, I can't go too far over in sugar, not matter the source. Lower sugar snacks can be veggies, nuts, string cheese, lower sugar granola bars, oatmeal (not the little…

Subway- any salad or 6 inch sub off the lower fat menu. The chili at Wendy's or one of their salads (not easy to do while driving however). Order a thin crust veggie pizza and eat a big salad first. I also will drag out the cut up veggies to munch on while I wait for delivery. Then I'm quite full by the time it gets there…

Dehydration is the biggest issue. And it can be a serious one. If you're going to drink after a run, have at least 24 oz of water before that beer. And follow it with at least that much again.

I will enter my food as well as my exercise ahead of time. It helps me plan better. I typically exercise at the end of the day, so if I wait to enter it, I've had many calories left over. Not always a bad thing, but over time, it can slow/halt weight loss. I almost always enter my lunch ahead of time as I bring my lunch…

I use Allrecipes.com, Pinterest, Crockin' girls. I get my blog sites off Pinterest. Love all the sites!

I do the same thiing and have for at least 4-5 years. I don't worry about it- I feel fine, am healthy, it doesn't cause too many issues unless I want to snuggle at night. :). It could be hormonal and will progress to night sweats/hot flashes. I haven't had much of either yet and the ones I've had don't seem to correlate to…

The most recent recommendations from the Institute of Medicine states that multivitamin use should only be for documented need, not preventive. This is based on data and a paper published on results from the Iowa Women's Health Study. It was found that multivitamin use as preventive medicine has no benefits and in older…
