I love that this thread is here. i am a former runner who now has bad knees and a totally replaced hip, so running is sorta out. My wife and I got bikes 6 weeks ago for Father's Day. We got Trex Recreational Bikes, and have gone crazy! In 6 weeks I have ridden mine about 550 miles and she has ridden hers about 490 miles.…

Good job! I decided that I needed a change in my lifestyle too, but 30 years of Army running, a marathon and a total hip replaceement made the running problematic. I chose biking to replace the exercise, and am about to reach half my goal. I like the defending the flag metaphor too!

That's no fun, but maybe better exercise! :-) Dodging cars has to add in a few extra calories burned! We are very lucky to have the W&OD right outside the door, practically. Love it!
