weight loss does it too...it's called adaptive thermogenisis. IT happens but can be controlled some with exercise and increase lean mass. but that isn't why people here recommend slower loss for lower amounts.
-
I recommend it for sustainability. For some people as mentioned it is possible to maintain a big deficit and still have lots of calories...some not so much. But as well there is a thing called reverse dieting...this is where you are either within 1 or 2 lbs of goal or at goal where you slowly increase your intake to get to…

are you bored or actually hungry???? my husband does night shifts too..12 hours tho and he tells me he often eats to stave off the tiredness from not sleeping much before his first shift... or because he is bored or because it's there make sure you are eating because of hunger and if so choose wisely and just stay in…

no OP is not building muscle... OP logging your food is one thing but are you using a food scale? and choosing correct entries? congrats on beating cancer too btw.

so you have lost 4.7lbs in 1 month???? am I reading that correctly? and you are saying you aren't losing much??? that is over 1lb a week that is significant. Perhaps what you need to do is have realistic expectations on what is a good amount to lose. If you have 75+ lbs to lose 2 lbs/week is ideal If you have 40-75 lbs to…

here is your original post "So I'm 5'9" and currently weigh 155 lbs. I have a good friend who is 5'9" and weighs 130 lbs. If you put her wrist and mine overlapping, mine is a good 33% larger. She has ankles that measure around half what mine do. She has beautiful, delicate hands and graceful collarbones. Even thin, my…

I am not sure i get what you are saying? or how it impacts what you quoted???
-
how so? please explain. I am in a normal BMI range and I am healthy...when I was on the high end of overweight I had bad lab results in a lot of things...as my BMI number came down...wow so did those numbers and I became healthy when I entered the Normal BMI range...as do most people...not all...MOST

My TDEE per my fitbit is about 2250 a day....that's me doing regular stuff...nothing too special. and I have an office job... If I chose to workout 2x a day yah I could get it higher...easy. 3k TDEE for an active person even a woman isn't that hard to believe

see not sure I would jsut follow that eitehr.. I just plugged mine in as it is now...it's okay...55lbs ago it told me to consider action...really??? consider action..and at 1 inch less it was okay...which was about 3lbs less... naw...I don't buy that either... it's a good start but in no way is a good measure to use alone.…

and that is what I said...it's a good starting point, a tool in a box of many...but to be honest there is not tool that is 100% and that is why there are many out there... but if the person is obese they should be paying more for insurance...jsut like me as a smoker had to... If you are at risk through your own fault you…

yes less painful weight loss but not weight loss. I exercise..a lot...but that's stress relief and so I can eat my treats when I want. The point is that exercise is not a requirement for weight loss...it might make it easier but it's not a requirement.
-
Yup but I know those that can...aka my son...young guy, does BJJ 4x a week, runs and it active...eats lots...cause well he likes food...I bet he eats 5k...and loses slowly or maintains.
-
the only part of this that is actually accurate is the eating 5k calories and only burning 2k...the rest is invalid as far as it goes. you can eat fast food all the time and still maintain/lose weight same as other foods oh and hit macros consistently.
-
I have yet ot see anyone say BMI is perfect... I think however that if you are classed as obese and even overweight you probably are...there are outliers yes...but those are not the norm. If people feel that they are an outlier then by all means do more testing...but even Waist to Hip Ratio is shown to not apply to…

might have to be more than a couple of miles. I had a donut over the weekend...chocolate toasted coconut...479 calories...I think I might have to run at least 5 miles to burn that off...
-
no she wouldn't gain on that...there is reduced nutrient absorption but calories are not the same. Calories are a unit of measure basically how much "energy" a single calorie will produce is that...and having WLS doesn't make that any different. The issue is (based on my experience) is that during the start of life after…

I have to admit that I often thought it was "the easy way out" until family and friends did it... now I am in the camp that knows better...and I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy to be honest...esp with what I see happening and I am not talking about weight gain either...
-
on vacation I don't worry about it...if it's really vacation....a week or two. if it's travel for other reasons I log as best I can...and yes most places are online now. if they aren't I order stuff I know...and as I said log best I can.

I personally have not had weight loss surgery but I know a lot of people personally who have and some are very close to me. Here are the issues I have seen in Canada. 1. The education surrounding it is lack luster at best 2. the professionals they see are lack luster at best for example a dietican (I actually think it's a…

then you are logging inaccurately... exercise is not a requirement for weight loss otherwise lots would be in trouble and not losing weight and then there are those who lose and don't exercise...
-
hey someone got butt hurt because some of the parks put out "warnings"...
-
exactly...so the entire class needs to be taken to task. tattling = telling to get someone in trouble telling = telling to keep someone from trouble. I am with the teacher on this...I have no tolerance for any of that.
-
I don't know...might get a heel hook or arm bar thrown at you...then what?
-
I think you are assuming things not in facts. For example how do you know that the whole class wasn't cheating or in on it??? How do you know they won't follow through? I know more than a few teachers who would follow through with that sort of thing...I would. And I see the teacher as addressing the issue... "said that…

if they hadn't added in "I don't care about the frequency of the workouts" I would agree but...they just don't care about any of it...

except for those who can't exercise... but in reality abs are revealed in the kitchen if you have the genetics for a six pack.
-
Logging the food you are eating doesn't guarantee weight loss. Exercise does not guarantee weight loss. Eating healthy does not guarantee weight loss. Calorie deficit does. Logging food is the first step...logging accurately and consistently is the actual step to ensure you are in a calorie deficit. I expect if you are…

I agree. I saw up thread somewhere that someone mentioned that in a history class for example...what is more fun Play a game like Jeopardy vs a pop quiz...of course the "game" is more fun but if the students are misbehaving in class why give them the "fun" until they can behave...that in itself is a lesson to be…

You can lose weight without exercise Abs are shown in the kitchen you do not have to do any direct ab work core is worked in many ways sometimes it is all about genetics as well...some may never get a 6 pack.
