  • This! It's the most sustainable way to go. When you ban foods, it causes cravings for many folks. I eat more veggies and less processed stuff (cookies, candy, donuts). Note that I said less not zero! I fit a krispy kreme donut in yesterday and it was divine. I've lost over 115 pounds!
  • I want to try cricket flour! It seems like a less scary way to eat bugs. I want to try these bars, but the macros aren't that great, so it seems like just a novelty. https://www.exoprotein.com/
  • From the smartphone app, you can look at Nutrition from the side bar and go to calories and view by week. I often will do that when I've overindulged. Most of the time I'm happy to see that I'm still within budget for the week. This info is probably on the website under reports too, but I don't know the details of it.
  • Sometimes I brush my teeth early, because I really hate the idea of having to do it again, that keeps me from mindless snacking.
  • since i prelogged all my food for the day, I was able to move items around and fit in a krispy kreme glazed donut. w00t. <3
  • I live in Cincinnati, which is Kroger country. Other grocery stores have trouble competing. I do have a local place called Jungle Jim's that has all the international food you could possibly handle and an amazing produce section. We alternate between Kroger and Jungle Jim's each week because there are some items only…
  • I like to bring in a mix cheerios (original, none of that blaspheming flavored stuff :D , but YMMV), nuts (portion those out as they are high calorie) and a few dark chocolate m&ms. It's crunchy and satisfying. Mmm.. I might do this for Star Trek Beyond this weekend!
  • MFP - MyFitnessPal :D
  • Mind blown. This is going to happen in my near future. Like tomorrow.
  • I was wondering when you said your doc put you on low carb. Metformin had that effect on me too. How long have you been on it? I found that that "side effect" disappeared after a couple months. My suggestion for upping calories is CHEESE! I buy a big block and use a chef's knife to cut into cubes/rectangles either 1oz or…
  • Are you using a food scale to measure your food and servings? Without one, it is very possible that you are eating more than you think.
  • I love this pizza crust http://detoxinista.com/2014/02/vegan-cauliflower-pizza-crust/. I'm not vegan, but it cuts down on the excess cheese since I'm going to put cheese on top! This fried rice is amazing. http://www.familyfreshmeals.com/2013/03/cauliflower-fried-rice.html My hubs has the idea of using it for his cheesy…
  • I can get Halo Top at Kroger.. I'm guessing it's not available at other groceries in your area?
  • Yes! I had a toxic friendship in college. After spending a month with her in London, I was DONE. I told her how I felt and I didn't talk to her any more after that. Yes, I lost the companionship, but it was not worth being treated like an accessory.
  • I've done thsee at work before and won in the early stages of my journey. Now, 40lbs from goal, I'm not sure. Having to drive across town would be very inconvenient for me and not motivational. I also like diet bets, but 4% a month might be too aggressive since you are so close. Point being I find them helpful, but it has…
  • Yum! I love plain greek yogurt as a sub for sour cream. Add some chives to that potato and you'll be in business! Enjoy!
  • It would really be hard, but I think I've done it in the past. Sometimes, I just take it to work and leave it in the break room. I take the wallet hit as part of my penance for making a poor choice foodwise. Maybe save a reasonable portion of the junk food, like a serving or 2 that you can put in an individual baggy and…
  • This is tough. I personally take my 1000mg of metformin at night to help with morning numbers. It's the only time I really need the help so to speak.
  • Interesting. I have attention deficit disorder and one of the ways it manifests for me is absolutely atrocious impulse control. I stopped taking medication to treat it when I became pregnant with my son and just never went back on them. Over the course of 3 years after my son was born I ballooned to my highest weight ever…
  • 86 ETA: That was after an evening half of a chocolate bar. Pure nirvana.
  • My hubs just made a spicy sausage the other day that was quite yummy. He just bought a package of 90/10 (lean) ground pork and mixed in red pepper flake, paprika, garlic, salt, pepper, file. He was trying to make andouille sausage, but it ended up tasting more like chorizo. Yummy none the less.
  • If anyone is still looking for a cheap clip on, I have one of these that I used for a while before fitbits and the like came out. I still put it in my 4 year old son's cargo pants on a occasion just to see how much that boy moves! (it's a lot) It works great and with the cover the button doesn't get accidentally reset…
  • I think you are on the right track with the blow dryer and dry shampoo. I've tried a pantene one and the nozzle clogged after 3 uses making it worthless. I tried this aussie one next and the price is much better and it works as advertised. Good luck!…
  • Letting my guard down and saying *kitten* it when I get in my head I want to overeat. This usually happens when I don't feel well and my will power goes somewhere into negative territory. I feel bad like a headache and give myself permission to eat all the foods. Then I pay for it the rest of the week slowing getting rid…
  • Food scale FTW. I also will divide things like snack nuts and trail mix into individual serving size snack baggies. Not great for the environment, but helps me manage eating something that is high calorie and can be overeaten easily. Then I can just grab them to add to my purse or lunch.
  • I really like Morningstar Grillers Original. The macros are good for me, 5g of carbs, 6g fat, 15g protein and 130 calories. My hubs eats two and I do as well on occasion if calories/hunger allows. They do wonderfully in the oven and get nice and crisp.…
