I have a standing computer desk next to my regular sit-down desk. I asked my employer to provide this particular set-up, and my employer authorized the purchase. I keep the laptop on the sit-down desk, and I attached a large monitor, keyboard, and mouse on the standing desk. I find myself standing and sitting throughout…

Food tastes good without salt or spices. If it tastes bland to you, that's just because you have gotten too used to having your taste buds overstimulated. Go without salt or spices for a while, and you will discover that food tastes good all by itself. Once you get used to the taste of food again, and then you try salt,…

When you set your goals, you indicate whether you are sedentary, active, etc. You also give your weight loss goal (1 pound per week, etc.), as well as your expected level of workouts (15 minutes daily, etc.). From that information, MFP calculates your normal daily caloric consumption, and then sets your target caloric…

Use a lot of lean protein as the heart of your diet. Eat plenty of turkey, salmon, chicken. Also get veggies that fill you up and give you fiber, like broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, celery. Be careful of fruit -- it's healthy, but sometimes packs more calories than you realize. And just log everything. That way, you will…

If you've got any kind of game system, you can buy a dance program, sports program, etc. Then just do that for 15 or 20 minutes in your room and you've got a great workout.

You set a 2 pounds per week weight loss goal. To do that, you need to have a 1000 calorie deficit each day. That's why MFP set your caloric goal where they did. If you want to consume more calories, you need to change your weight loss goal to 1 pound per week. You will see MFP's caloric target rise.

I cook several pieces of salmon once a week, and then I stick it all in Ziploc bags in the fridge. I get up and grab one for breakfast -- I can eat it cold or I can toss it in the microwave for a minute. I usually add a piece of high-fiber low-sugar toast and some low-carb yogurt. I rarely cook in the morning, but I never…

You already established that he does NOT like small and crazy. You are the opposite. Go for it.

Nice challenge! I beat my previous high by 5. Since my previous high was 0, I did 5 ... but it's 5 more than I would have done without this challenge.

Have you considered asking out a man you are interested in? Or do you expect the man to take all the risks in a relationship?

The scariest thing I can think of is the person I was 11 weeks ago. Just looking at that guy's picture scares me!

11 weeks, 41 pounds, 3.6 pounds per week. But for the first couple weeks, it was about 6 or 7, and more recent weeks it's smaller. At first, my loss was about equally fat, muscle, and water. More recently, my loss is almost all fat. (My physician has an InBody machine that gives me exact figures for these.)

You are unhappy that others are not emotionally invested in your journey. Have you been emotionally invested in their journeys? When they got a good grade, or a new certification, or a promotion, or accomplished something in their respective fields, or a new rare stamp, or a good fantasy football draft, or won $20 at the…

Friends don't let friends bike drunk. Don't stress about one day. If your overall program is working, then just keep doing your overall program. The effects of one single day are not even noticeable in your overall weight loss. Just move forward. Always forward. Don't look back.

1. People who bring donuts for the whole office, and then are pushy standing in front of your desk until you take one. 2. People who bake cookies for the whole office, and then are offended when you won't take one. 3. People who bring cake for everyone's birthday, and then insist that you must take a piece to honor the…

Just remember to record your pace and duration when you flee. After all, fleeing burns calories!

Calories, Sugar, Protein, Fiber. It is the sugar that gives me cravings and wrecks my diet. If I can keep sugar low, I can keep the rest in line.

A few years ago, I had a student whose biological father got out of prison and unexpectedly showed up in her life. She did not know him, did not know about him, and was completely unhinged by the incident. She was angry at her mother for not preparing her for this encounter, because the mother had known that the biological…

My physician prescribed Phentermine for appetite suppressant and then added Topamax for fat burning. I started to get headaches, and my total concentration level was down. I could no longer process complex information as well. I talked to the physician and he said that there are sometimes cognitive side effects from…

I often eat Salmon for breakfast. I put about 5 ounces on the George Foreman Grill, and it is ready in a few minutes. I buy a bigger piece at the store, cut it into 5-ounce servings, and then grill it all on the same day. Then I toss it into Ziploc bags and have it in the fridge. The next morning, I have another piece. In…

Hi Shop, Search on "Zumba" and you will find it. It's not linked to Wii, Kinect, etc., since the console doesn't really matter. It's Zumba whatever console people use. There are several choices under "Dance," but none say Wii, Kinect, etc. Again, I don't think it matters what console you use. So my guess is that the Wii…

When I first started, I weighed in every day. That was exciting because I lost a lot of weight for the first couple of weeks. Nearly every day, I could count on seeing the number drop. But after a couple of weeks, my weight loss slowed. Daily weigh-ins became more frustrating so I slowed down my frequency. Now I weigh in…
