If you remember my last post yesterday…I said I was going to make a salad then paint. Well…I did make the salad. It was terrible. I need cooking lessons! (Or, at least to follow a recipe!) It tasted so bad that I spent the rest of the evening trying to get the taste out of my mouth. :noway: Nothing worked. I tried…

I’ve been working on the computer all day. :grumble: Not fun. No walk for me today. :noway: I plan to do some painting though so should earn a few calories. Tomorrow, I’m getting’ outside when the birds wake up. Gotta beat the heat. Yep, the heat. I knew I’d be complaining about the heat before long. We got about a…

I logged my exercise and got to see what the frog on my ticker did when he reached the end of the grass. He did…absolutely nothing! :ohwell: Darn. I was hoping for something cool. (I didn’t spend too much time hoping!) I primed the walls of my new space (my apartment in the “big house”) today. Spent almost 4 hours rolling…

I got a short walk in earliesh today – just 2.25 miles but long enough to put me over my goal (which was conservative!) for the month. I’m so jazzed! I haven’t updated my exercise ticker yet as I plan to get some more exercise in for the day but I’m curious about what the frog will do when he hops off the grass!…

I stole - and adapted - a line from Barbara (AuntieBK) because I WILL be a size 12 in 2011.

Hmm. I was thinking about how I would have felt if my sister had asked me to be something other than a matron of honor (many years ago!) My feelings would have been hurt. That's just me though. When the time gets closer, the best thing would be to ask your brother. Good luck and have fun planning your wedding.

Just got back from my walk. (Got out earlier than yesterday!) I’m almost at my goal for the MONTH! Yippee. Thanks to Linda for the inspiration – and turning me on to the walking challenge thread. Lorri, someone recently told me you can be whey-intolerant as well as lactose-intolerant. That would make a lot of sense…

3.25 miles today at about the same mph. Crazy good NV! Jogging is awesome. Bex, 4 miles in 50 minutes…you were flying! TJ, I think you should get double credit for taking 5 kids walking. I’m serious! Linda, 6.5 miles? Oh my gosh. You’re my hero when it comes to racking up the miles. I’m amazed to be almost to my…

I don't use a HRM. I take meds for atrial fib that slow my heart way down - often in the low 50's. I figure calorie counts wouldn't be accurate anyway so I go by how I feel. If I'm working, breathing hard but not too hard, I figure I'm good. Beyond that, I can see how I do with my weight. Basically, I intuit my way along.…

It’s a beautiful day. I AM going to get out there early today. We’ll see if Izzy is perkier in the morning. (She doesn’t look like a lark, Barbara, but maybe she has an inner lark. ) Chiclet, you absolutely do not sound like your usual self. :noway: Give yourself a break. It’s probably that TOM. If not,…

Finally finished my morning walk - at about 8:30 pm! I got busy on the computer but popped up a few times on the stairstepper. By then it was the hot part of the day so I waited 'til dusk. It was lovely out. Funny, but my little dog likes morning walks better. Can't figure that one out. I thought she'd be raring…

Robin, WOO HOO!!! JUMPING UP AND DOWN. DOING CARTWHEELS!!! You will be a wonderful grandma. Congrats.   :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: p.s. and Kathy is right, being a grandma is way better than being a mom. You can love ‘em and spoil ‘em, then take them home. When they’re being stinkers…

3 miles this morning at 3 mph. I am loving this! I clipped Izzy's (my little brown dog's) toenails yesterday and she liked our walk much better. The weather was perfect - in the mid-70's. That won't last though and I'm going to have to get out earlier to beat the heat. Linda, congrats on your new land speed record. You are…

Aww, Chiclet. What a crazy deal. I think your day was even crazier than mine. Good for you for hanging in there and doing the exercises anyway. :flowerforyou:

Just popping in for a quick hello. This has been a crazy, nutso day. Started out with a nice 3 mile walk. That was a good thing! Then picked up my two DGD's. That was the unplanned part. Their dad was really sick and mom had an all-day, out-of-town meeting. I'd already planned to help my son out with some computer…

Hi to everyone. I've read the posts but am going to keep this short so I can get some sunshine! Amanda, I went to Hawaii years ago. The weirdest part about snorkeling (which, overall, I loved) was being so close to so many FISH! The thought of them nibbling on me? Nah. I’ll forego the fish pedicure. I’m not sure they’re…

Linda, awesome speed. Flausa had good advice. And, Flausa, I don't know how you do it. You must be flying. Walked just 1.75 miles today in 35 minutes - about 3 mph. Used the stairstepper for another 25 minutes. I think I need to clip Izzy's toenails. She didn't want to walk as far. Or maybe it was the heat - all the way…

Just popping in for a quick hello. I typed my fingers to nubbins yesterday. A big welcome to Annelise. Her message made me think about my journey. I'm glad my story rang a bell for some of you. That's what this is all about - helping each other. So many of you have helped me in so many ways. Thanks!

3.25 miles today for me, at 3.25 mph. I'm almost half way to my goal and it's still the first week of June. I must have a competitive streak in there somewhere. This challenge is motivating. The cool weather we're having doesn't hurt either! Linda, awesome speed!

Here’s a question for you. My DGDs are here this afternoon, munching down on some mouth-watering watermelon. Olivia asked if it was a fruit or a vegetable. I didn’t know! So, I went to the Internet. Some sites said it was a fruit. Some that it was a vegetable. Here’s what the fruitsandveggiesmatter.gov website calls it:…

3.75 miles, 70 minutes. I'm lovin' it!

Welcome, Pam. Weigh or measure every single bite, sip, or nibble and I’ll be you’ll do fine with losing weight. I do – but ONLY if I keep an accurate diary. Otherwise, I tend to forget that “little taste.” You’ve come to the right place for support. Cathy, those little ones are hard to keep up with. :noway: I love…

Hi everyone, Lu, your plan to exercise sounds like a good one. I was just telling someone else about that post on Sparkspeople with pics of someone weighing 160, 160, and 160. If I remember correctly, the sizes went from 14 to almost a 4! All due to exercise. She looked fantastic. Replacing muscle with fat makes more of a…

Thank you, NV, for organizing this challenge. And thank you, Linda, for letting me know about it. It was just what I needed to boost my motivation. So far, so good! Had a wonderful 3.25 mile walk today at about 3.25 mph. That's a longer walk than usual and a little faster pace. And I did it without stopping to rest. I even…

Good day here too. Lots of healthy food. (Had to do some extra stair-stepping at the end of the day to meet my calorie goal - but that's okay with me - more than okay.) Got in a good long walk. Long for me anyway, 3.25 miles. Even jogged for some stretches. Too much bouncing though. I cooked some oysters tonight.…

Great job!

Happy birthday, Caminogirl and Shirley. I hope you have a wonderful day. :flowerforyou: My daughter dropped off some strawberries this morning that she'd bought from a local farmer. Strawberries, pineapple, and yogurt for breakfast. Yum! Chiclet, good for you for getting into a size 18 swimsuit. :flowerforyou: My…

I love, love, love asparagus. My favorite way to cook it is simple but delish. Heat your oven as high as it will go. (I set mine on 500, convection bake.) Rinse the asparagus and snap off the tough ends. Coat it with a little olive oil. I use a Misto sprayer but you could also put the asparagus in a bowl then drizzle over…

So much for deciding to keep my posts short but sweet! This group is addictive. Interesting day today. Started off with my daughter calling and asking me to DRIVE up to her place. (It’s about 300’ away.) Seems that a mountain lion left a fresh deer kill about 200’ from the house…a little alarming. :noway: I’m done…

Deborah, happy birthday (a couple of hours early). I hope your DH is well enough to enjoy the day with you. The two of you sound like a loving couple. I'm happy for you. I was excited to record my first progress on the walking challenge. I put myself down for 600 minutes of walking for the month. That's not a…
