Michele, I'm sorry about PJ. That's a hard decision, but a kind one. Birdie, congrats on being within a hair of your goal weight. That's awesome! I just saw your before and after pics. They're amazing. You look great and probably 20 years younger. I just saw they we're both 62 and have both lost 47 pounds. Of course,…

Hi Robin, Someone else may have beaten me to the punch on this. In case they didn't, here's how you do it: To add a weight loss ticker, click Tools then Weight Loss Ticker To add your own narrative, click Community then Signature Some folks add second tickers to their signatures. I'm not quite sure how. When you find out,…

Long, lazy day today. Watched the girls this morning to keep them out of the way while their dad moved wood using the Skidsteer (a large forklift). Then read a book, got up to ride the stationary bike, read some more, repeat, repeat! Did a little research on the ‘net too. I used to spend days off doing this a lot. Not the…

Michele, I thought I remembered that a friend on another forum had a Polar F7 but turns out if was the F6. I'll pass the info along anyway... I have the Polar F6. There are three screen you can go back and forth to when in exercise mode. One has the time you have been exercising for and your heart rate, 2nd one has…

My Dr.’s visit (actually with a Physician's Asst) this morning was a mixed bag. The low blood pressure I was so pleased about seems to be associated with a slow heart rate :noway: , which started to change in January, right when I started MFP. At first, I thought the changes reflected all the lifestyle changes (which I’m…

Vicki, my heart goes out to you, your DIL, and her friend's family, particularly the kids. That is so sad. I'm glad Birdie had a similar experience to relate that had a happy ending. The pain now must be almost too much. Barbie, I'll have to give Rodney Yee a try. I'm off for a Dr. appt this morning. First one in a year -…

Terri, for me, eating lots of veggies puts the kibosh on even wanting to eat other snacks. I roast them at a high temp for a short time. They're so good, and good for you. When I get into a snacky mood, I make myself a plate of veggies. It's astonishing how easy it is to have "willpower" after eating them.

I’m occasionally what Barb refers to as a Prolific Poster. Oh, what the heck, admit it, Gabby Broad is exactly right! It makes me happy to read all the posts and I’m OCD enough to want to say Hi to everyone (or at least to make the attempt) once in awhile. What am I grateful for? My two little granddaughters, munchkins…

Hi, you sound like you've done a terrific job on your own. I know you'll love all the support you get on MFP too. It's made a huge difference for me. That and vegetables!!! I keep up with a fun and supportive thread for women ages 50+. (And a few who are not quite 50!) Here's the URL:…

I’m back home after spending the weekend with family celebrating my DN’s (dear nephew’s) engagement and reveling in the sun. Even though I had a wonderful time, I’m glad to be back where I feel more in control of eating. The nibble-y stuff is hard – but getting easier. My DN and his bride-to-be plan to get married on a…

You've done a great job. Sometimes people notice you look different but can't quite put it together. Someone I hadn't seen for a year or so asked me if I'd been getting some sun! What counts is looking great and, even better, feeling great. Congrats. :flowerforyou:

I use a toaster oven to make great roasted veggies. I was never a veggie eater until I tried this. Now, I love them! Eating a plate of veggies works well for stopping the munchies before they can get started. I usually start dinner with them and sometimes have them in the afternoon. Here's what I do: Preheat to 475 (higher…

Hi everyone. Just a quick post to say "Hi." I see lots of you have good news. I'll go back and respond more personally when I have more time later (or tomorrow!). In the meantime, congrats to everyone who has upped their exercise and stayed in their calorie targets. Good going! Today is my birthday - I turned 62 and am…

I finally met my potassium target for the first time today. It's not easy. Some of the foods that were high in potassium included pineapple, sweet potatoes, butternut squash, etc. You're welcome to take a look at my diary if you'd like. I'm proud to have finally done it!

Just a quick check-in. Today is going to be a busy day. Another lunch, this time with a friend. But I know what's on the menu and should do fine. Plus, started off the day with a good walk. I'm definitely going to be exercising today to get back into the groove. This afternoon, I head back to Placerville. I'm always torn -…

I've been missing you all this weekend. I just read all the posts. Yowser. There were a lot. I enjoy getting little glimpses into all your lives. Thanks! This has been sort of a party weekend - dinner on Friday at my sister's to celebrate her birthday, then nibbly stuff and margaritas on the deck yesterday (more…

Breakfast: Pavel’s low fat yogurt with a cup of strawberries and 1 T jam. Lunch: Honey-smoked salmon (the only brand I like!), Campari tomatoes, and Feta wrapped in 2 halves of a whole wheat pita bread. Fresh pineapple. Dinner: Oh those roasted veggies. Mmm. A big plate filled with asparagus, broccoli, a little sweet…

I've had plantar fasciitis in the past. The podiatrist told me to wear good arch supports. (You can get them over the counter.) He told me to never walk barefoot, which means even having shoes or slippers with good arch supports by your bed. It took awhile, but this worked for me. Plantar fasciitis is no fun. Good luck!

Chris, I am a beginner when it comes to exercise. I'm exercising just half an hour a day and planning to work up to an hour a day next month. But, I noticed something interesting about your post. You mentioned having burnt out on being healthy in the past. That rang a bell with me. Many, many times, I’ve gotten into losing…

What a great concept for a thread. Lots of good ideas and I like the "visibility." That always makes me try harder. I'm bumping for tomorrow.

Another busy day with the grandkids. I do count my blessings, being able to spend so much time with them but, wow, I’m glad I don’t have to do it full time! I’m especially glad I can pitch in just now as DD has her hands full with work. With the economy taking a bite out of her DH’s paycheck, she’s glad to have the work…

Skipped just a day and – wow – lot's been going on. I do love this group! I am so grateful I’m retired – or semi-retired. After 10-1/2 hours babysitting my 3-year old granddaughter, Kate and, after school, her 5-year old sister Olivia, I’m pooped. Kate is going through what you might call a “difficult” stage. My…

Hope everyone had a nice Mother’s Day – whether your are the mom or the daughter. Either way, it’s a good excuse to treat yourself well. :flowerforyou: My mom and I had breakfast at my sister’s house. Her kids cooked. We oohed and ahhed over the new baby – my first grand nephew. Then I drove back to Placerville where my…

Rose, I'm thinking about you and your family and sending hugs. I'm sad for you. Today went from great to ridiculous :grumble: in an hour. I was heading down to visit my mom. About half way there, the car overheated. In the 5 hours that I was stuck at a gas station waiting for my son to come rescue me (the radiator hose had…

Wanted to chime in before I take off for the Bay Area. I look at those slips (pretzels, rice cakes, chocolate, whatever) as training for the rest of my life. As Birdie said, it's what you do between the slips that counts. Feeling guilty often leads to "going unconscious" and that leads to disaster. Keeping track of food…

Ta da….I weighed in (a day early) this morning at 227, a loss of 2.4 pounds for the 6 days. I know you can’t trust the darned scaled but I admit I love it when it shows a loss. It feels like a reward and puts a smile on my face. And I exercise harder for the next week because I don’t want to see the numbers go up or stay…

Just wanted to say "Hi" to all of you. I've read all your posts. I planned to respond to them this weekend but, yesterday I was kind of a slug all day and kept getting distracted, although I did get some exercise in. It doesn't do my spirits any good at all to stay in the house all day, especially when it's beautiful out.…

Way to go! Now buy yourself something nice. Congratulations.

Hello to one of my all-time favorite bunches of women. April has been a good month for me...feeling more secure in this new way of eating, getting a little off track before and at Easter then getting back on, getting more consistent with exercise, and losing a few pounds too. I'll have time to say, "Hey" more personally…

Molly, You make a good point and have made amazing progress to prove it. I find that it helps me a lot to include plenty of fresh fruits and veggies in my diet, preferably before dinner time. It takes a lot less willpower to stay on track. Actually, for me, I like the fruits and veggies so much and they're so filling, I…
