My apologies for being MIA. I've been trying (again) to do it on my own. :noway: Rather than say something "new" I'll copy what just posted on my Home page: My obnoxious daughter hounded me into coming here and posting. : ) I've been on the slippery slope and it's not okay. I've gained 10 pounds and it's real weight. As…

Hello my friends, I've been scarce in these parts lately. Was not doing so well for awhile but am back on track again. The never-ending saga! Michele, thinking about you and hoping all goes well with the biopsy.   Natalie, congrats on your great progress. Woo hoo! :flowerforyou: Sissy, so glad your…

Having a nice, relaxing day here. I've been away from the computer for a few days and it feels GOOD! Sitting all day in my job was one of the worst things for me. I don't know how people do it and lose weight. I'm grateful to have the time off now (even though it means not having a lot of money, it's worth it!) Mynika, re…

Rebel, congrats on your new grandson. He is a chunka munka. So huggable. There's nothing sweeter. Barbie, I'm missing you. Hope the move is going okay. Chiclet, girlfriend, you do have the most interesting problems! About the cloddish neighbor, you got lots of good advice. Genealace, you are so direct. Awesome! That's not…

I stayed on track today. Phew. One more day to go and I should be in decent shape as far as the munchies go. I argued with myself over stopping to buy ice cream bars for my kids and grandkids. They deserved them, didn't they? Sanity won the day and I just kept going. I know I would have eaten one - how could I resist? -…

Focus on the positive Kacee. You've done a fantastic job of maintaining your loss. Give yourself the credit you deserve. It's true some people don't understand the struggle. Nod your head, smile politely, and don't listen to a thing they say! Good luck. You're doing this!

Just a quick hello. I've been off track lately - way off track. I was sorting through photos tonight looking for some to use in the family cookbook I've been working on. Seeing those old photos made me realize I never, never, never want to be that way again. I weighed over 300 pounds in most of them and looked every pound…

Welcome to everyone new. There are bunches of you! This is an amazing bunch of women. Their support has made a huge difference in my staying (not always but mostly) on track. I was thinking about what's made the most difference for me... Getting more active (and not working at a desk!) Counting my blessings (and…

Just heading off to bed after a full day. The girls and I went blackberry picking this morning. Our harvest was not too impressive. The harvest of blackberries that is. The harvest of scratches was just fine. Afterward, we went down to Costco for lunch where I had a hot dog - and stayed on track! A major accomplishment. I…

Hello everyone, I've been awol lately. The social-eating monster got me again. I'm back on track and back posting. Hmm. Funny how those two things go together. It's time for bed (have to get up early, before it gets too hot, to take the girls blackberry picking) so I'll just say a quick hello and send my warm wishes…

Hello everyone. I've been MIA for the last couple of weeks. It's good to be back. And good to stop the downhill slide! I kept my eating where I wanted it for the first week of housesitting. Got in lots of swimming too, which was wonderful. I didn't do so well the 2nd week of housesitting. Too many "special" occasions.…

Hi. I'm hopelessly behind on tracking although I took a lot of wonderful walks while I was on vacation in Tahoe. I don't think there's anywhere more beautiful. I walked to the lake almost every day (3 miles round trip). I'll hit it again in August. It's so hot here (high 90's), it might have to be at the gym though. I miss…

I just got back from walking the dogs. Feels good after a busy day. I've skimmed all the posts (this is a prolific bunch of posters! ) I won't be able to check in with you tonight but I'm thinking about you. I don't know how people do MFP, work, and take care of all the miscellaneous chores it takes to keep up.…

I had a good eating day today! There were times when I just wanted to eat - more! So I'm feeling really good about staying on track. I had wonderful grilled chicken, the sweetest corn on the cob I've ever tasted, a nice salad, and fresh peas for dinner. I know today was not all about eating but I did enjoy it. The…

Urgh. Over on calories yesterday. :noway: It’s that nibble-y thing again. At the time it doesn’t “feel” as though I’m eating that much. At the end of the day, I sat down on MFP (I give myself points for that) and tried my best to tally everything up. I was way over on calories. :grumble: There were veggies to…

I hope you're all having a nice afternoon. I'm enjoying house sitting for my sister and BIL. Their yard is beautiful. Lucky me, I get to enjoy the pleasure of looking at the beautiful flowers - all pink, lavender, purple and white, with a few bright orange California poppies thrown into the mix - and watching the…

Welcome to everyone who’s new. This is the best spot on MFP! And, Barbie, you are the best for keeping it going. I’m grateful. For the next two weeks, I’ll be house and dogsitting and helping out with my sister and BIL's business. I’m getting a chance today to catch up with all my dear friends but this will put a…

I hit my June goal - today (July 2) I'm happy though because I doubled my goal midway. I'll make it a little lower (half between the two goals) for this month as it's setting out to be a scorcher. I'll probably get in more swimming and a little less walking.

This is a little after the fact but I wanted to report on my June goal. I finally hit it - July 2! I feel pretty good about it as I double my goal midway.

Fresh fruits and veggies. And more fresh fruits and veggies. The people I see who lose and keep it off are the ones whose diets are healthy. Stocking up on "diet" foods and calorie-dense foods doesn't seem to work for the long haul. I've lost 74 pounds - most of it in the 10 months before last October. This is the first…

What a difference. You look wonderful and you've done a wonderful job.

I've been awol for a few days...at my folks' house for a visit. I walked every day but one. That's a record for me. I usually wait until someone else wants to go with me and that seldom happens. This time I just went! I walked for 95 minutes this morning. I'm jumping up and down about the number of minutes...now. This…

50 minutes yesterday (2.5 miles) and an hour today (2.0 miles, walking with my 85-year-old mom - she's does alright!) Getting back in the swing of walking after a couple of days of not doing much. I'm particularly happy about walking yesterday and today - yesterday I stopped on my way to visit my family. I've said so many…

Although I won't be posting much while I'm visiting family, I'm keeping up with your posts. Barbie, I had to comment on yours. It hit home powerfully with me. Yes, certain foods do trigger binges for me. I always knew that. But I never thought of it as a genetic thing. The idea of using strategy to deal with this was a…

Good morning, Mary, you're in my thoughts and prayers. Your mom sounds like a sweet woman. I'm sad for you. I'm heading to the Bay Area to spend Father's Day weekend with family. I'll stay until Tuesday. I may be scarce on here the next few days. I'll miss you. Congrats to everyone who's doing well.…

That was beautiful, Jane. Good words to live by. Thanks for passing them along. Faye. You’re doing the right thing, to keep eating healthily and exercising. I see your food log so I know you do a great job with choosing what you eat. It looks as though you might be one of those people with a slow metabolism. Have you had…

Good morning everyone. We have another beautiful, sunny day here. I wanted to get out of the house for a walk by 7 am this morning to beat the heat but stayed up reading until midnight. I didn’t wake up ‘til 7! I think the temp will be okay if we walk at 8:30 or 9 though. I’ll wear lighter clothing.…

It has a lot to do with food choices. I honestly am never hungry on about 1500 calories. (I usually earn some exercise calories, which increases the total I can eat.) I eat tons of fruits and veggies. That's truly the secret. All the more concentrated calories do is make you want more. I rarely feel deprived. Mostly I feel…

Hmm. Guess I'd better update my goal. I'm going to double it, from 600 to 1200.

3 miles today at 3 mph. I made the mistake yesterday of waiting too long to get outside. By afternoon, it was way too warm. Got out there 8 am today. Still 80 by the time I finished but way better. Tomorrow, I'm aiming for 7 am. Oh, and I won't wear jeans and a long-sleeved shirt.
