  • well, i suppose when you are talking about 75% cocoa chocolate being as healthy or healthier than cheese, then perhaps, but that is not what they buy for her. they buy snickers or hershey kisses or pudding - something that has no nutritional value whatsoever. if i thought he was giving her "healthy chocolate" i would…
  • BTW, just wanted to add, in these 17 days since we've been doing this, i have NOT COUNTED CALORIES ONE SINGLE DAY. i have managed to lse 8 lbs. in this timeframe. never logged one single meal or even my exercise into MFP. i can't believe i can lose without managing and obsessing over my food. i eat when i'm hungry (my…
  • thank you very much for posting. much appreciated! THE PALEO SOLUTION by robb wolf EVERYDAY PALEO (cookbook) by sarah fragoso
  • my husband and i are doing a modified version (because we aren't eating eggs, which are allowed on paleo, and some other slight modifications) we stopped everything completely cold turkey in one single day. (in fact, i went to Whataburger for a HUGE meal the night before we started) we are on day 17 right now, and i…
  • i just read in a book, "some people expect perfection from themselves b/c they know they will fail, this gives them an excuse to give-up." it hit me like a ton of bricks when i read it. that is me. not only in health & fitness but every aspect of my life. i loved your story, thanks for sharing. i am trying to get over all…
  • i am not trying to change what they do at all, my only intention is to get respect for what WE choose to do, and not feel like i have to defend myself. we need support in helping our daughter to make healthy choices (she just turned 5) and i feel like they completely ignore our requests and indulge anything and everything…
  • i am not really sure i understand what you are asking. i guess from what i gathered, my response would be, once per month, take a day and eat anything you want, "dirty" bad foods, etc.
  • i packed-up all foods (non-perishable) and took it to our food bank. all the fresh foods, we ate them until they were gone so as not to waste money. but we won't be buying more!
  • so happy for you! we just did the same thing in our house. it feels liberating! i haven't slept so well in years. hoping to find benefits for years to come
  • hi - i just watched JJ's infomercial and took notes, but did not buy the book. i'm trying to do everything on my own without buying the materials. were you successful in doing the 21-days? my husband and i just started today. anxious to hear your reviews.
  • i agree with getting fittted, but if that's not possible, go with Brooks. i love them,, have had lots of other brands, but none compare. i think i like my nike the least. (for running, they are fine for everything else)
  • for my first pair of running shoes, i chose BROOKS. i LOVE them and they are still my fav. i never had never run in my life, wouldn't even run if there were a fire in the building.
  • i went from a B cup to 42DDD after pregnant. it was so hard to work out. my fav bras are Nike and Under ARmour. i always wear two bras when i do any kind of cardio. i got mine at Academy, not sure if they have that store where you live.
  • if you're not going to answer her question or if you don't have experience with the product personally, then don't respond. everyone knows that "food" is better, but sometimes with a screaming toddler in the car, grabbing a slim fast is easier and the only way a mom can get-in a meal. it is working for me, i like the way…
  • by the way, the South Beach Diet shakes have far less sugars & carbs and have about twice the protein if you get the 20g protein ones. they are tasty!
  • i personally like the SF plan. i drink a shake for breakfast, another for lunch, then eat pretty much any dinner i want (healthy choices, of course, but as "much" as i want) i eat fruit, veggies & water as i want all day long. i have lost about 5 lbs doing this.
  • i would go to your dr to have your hormones tested. there are alot of hormone issues surrounding weight-loss at the 40-yr mark. thyroid, estrogen, testosterone, PCOS, prolactin, etc. good luck - hang in there.
  • i'm not sure if there is a definitive test for it, but i would definitely seek medical advice. there are meds and special diets you can follow to help with symptoms.
  • i injured my back (slightly) when lifting a few weeks ago. then about 2 days later, i got into a minor car collision. my back was really hurting. i stopped lifting for 7 days, took advil and used heating pad, ice, etc. and after a week, i felt great. i am back to lifting again. if it's a true injury, my vote is let it…
  • i think it's a good idea in theory, but some people NEED to lose weight (like me) and i think the scale can be a healthy way of measuring how well i'm doing. if i was in poor shape & physically unfit but didn't need to lose weight, then this article would be right on track. TFS
  • actually i read seveal studies which indicate that you CAN make-up for lost sleep by napping; what you can't do is "save-up" and nap when you know you'll be missing sleep in the future.
  • this is how my mom is. she cannot nap. she wakes feeling groggy and with a headache. i wake up very refreshed, and some days when i know i'm going to be out really late, i will nap and feel like i get two days in one! i guess not everyone is a napper.
  • oh i LOVE naps! i love to nap. i would nap every day if i could but that's not always possible. sometimes i will sleep for 20 minutes, sometimes 2 hours. depends on the day and the weather! last sunday, golf was on t.v. very low volume, storm outside, i napped on the couch for 2 hours! aweeeesome!!!
  • the thing that really helped with my sugar cravings was to do without sugar for at least a week. i noticed after my body didn't have it, i didn't want it. sometimes i still have an occasional craving, but for the most part, i can pass a donut and not even blink, when before, i would have devoured a dozen!
  • i bought a food scale and it really helped with portion control issues. i will measure my cereal, or nuts, or whatever i'm eating and i was so shocked when i first weighed it all and saw what a 'real' portion size was.
  • thank you. i had not considered making small changes. i immediately wanted to go back to the way i was "before" with my working-out and eating regime. obviously that is not working for me! LOL
  • my husband was diagnosed with extreme low testosterone. i have PCOS. my test. level was actually higher than his was. my husband started on treatment and now his level is just now getting up to what a normal man's should be (he takes injections every week) , and now he is bulking-up from lifting weights. even with my high…
  • lose weight (although this won't help in the short-term) get MBT's shoes. they are expensive and ugly but wear them ALL THE TIME. as soon as your feet hit the floor out of bed in the morning until you step into the shower or bed again at night. overnight wear foot/ankle stretchers which keep your feet flexed all night.…
