When I started I always ran 10 min and walked 1 min. This helped to stretch out my legs in between. As well, when I run on the treadmill I put the incline up a bit. It should be between 1.0 and 2.0. This helps to have a little more give on the band and is easier on your joints. It also makes the transition to outside…

You have done great! I loved your message - it was from the heart and I'm sure it will be encouraging and inspiring for many other of us MFP people.

I'm curious about this too.

Well said Sam!

I have trained using mostly treadmill for 2 half marathons. I found that going from treadmill to outdoors hard, not because it was harder to run, but I really grew to love running on a treadmill. I only head outdoors when the weather is nice (I'm scared to run in winter in the cold and on icy ground) and I do grow to enjoy…

When I started running 2 years ago I went to the Running Room and they advised me that doing the run/walk worked great. I run 10min and then walk 1min. The walk is at a fast pace and while I walk I stretch out my legs. Even though I could run a fair distance without walking (and I do for some of my training) I still like…

Fresh strawberries or blueberries. Yummy!

We do the same!

After my first half marathon I ran the next day. Not hard or long, but for about 25-30 min to help loosen up my muscles. I felt less stiff that way. Great job on finishing the half! Congrats!

Running has transformed my body. I love to run and love the way it makes me feel. I have lost weight running (eating healthier too!) and am enjoying my new, slimmer self. I feel empowered and love that I am the one who controls my workout - the speed, intensity and hills is all up to me. I never thought I'd get so into but…

I, too, am curious as to how you calculate your body fat %.

Running ABSOLUTELY works! I lost 83lbs running(55lbs of it in 7 months). What started out as an activity has changed my life. I was surprised (& happy) to see that running helped change my body to be lean muscle, instead of getting bulky. Make sure you still eat within your calories and you WILL see results (and it makes…

Congratulations!!! I reached my goal 4 1/2 months ago and I still count all my calories and exercise time. I believe that this is a lifestyle change and that to be successful I will need to continue count calories... forever. And that's ok. It worked. So why stop, right? Have a great day!!

I love the feeling of knowing it is me controlling my pace and the distance I achieve. It is my run and no one else's. I am addicted to running :)

I totally can relate and agree with you! I too was diagnosed with Exercise-induced asthma as a young teenager. I used the inhaler while a teen, but when I got into running (at 30) I found that if I slowly increased my running, I didn't need to use it. I do have one for days when I really want to beat myself up on the…

Your goal is very attainable! I have been on myfitnesspal since the beginning on February and have lost 40 pounds in just over 4 months. (iam excited that I am now into maintaining) I find it all comes down to math. If I don't have enough numbers in a day, I don't have a snack. And if I do have enough I have a treat like…
