  • Bacon has been a part of the "moderate fat" in my low carb (almost) no wheat and moderate fat in my weight loss journey!
  • Back in keto again....can I stick it through Thanksgiving? Let's try!!!!
  • Ok I'm a bad grandma... my grandson (3) his parents, their friends and their two kids 4 & 2 are coming today to overnight at our cabin. My shopping list: soy milk boxes, juice boxes, fruit, the dreaded FUDGE goldfish IF Walmart is not SOLD OUT of them, and terrible grandpa is going to make WAFFLES for Sunday breakfast.....…
  • Sorry to say but for me I really do have to curb the wine drinking. My husband retired last year and took up making wine. He makes great wine and it costs almost nothing to make! I could not even begin to lose weight until I gave up drinking any wine during the week and cutting way back on the weekends. I do have to count…
  • Thanks to this thread... so after a Halloween treat day at work (that I now see set me back 5 days of progress) ... I decided to do another run through the closet/dresser last night. Result - more clothes for Goodwill, more "big" shirts to take to the cabin - too sloppy for work but fine for the north woods rediscovered…
  • I did the first purge of clothes this summer when I had lost 15 lbs - cleaned out most of the summer things AND found older clothes that I had"outgrown" when I had gained - some fit again and some were already to big!!! The other day I pulled one of my standard fall jackets out - and it was huge!!! so I guess it is time…
  • I am that person who is waiting. For me: 1) get control of eating patterns and come up with an eating plan (I don't cook much) started with lo carb, then no wheat then added high protien and moderate fat 2) start with exercise I like - dance class and walking - stair climbing (real - at work - not machines) 3) lost 30 lbs…
  • When I hear or see the words "mostly around my belly or middle" I hear "wheat". You may want to check out the threads under the wheat belly topic. I have postings there about losing the belly and lots of other health improvements. It is not difficult to walk away from the wheat. I did it in June.
  • Look for the other Wheat Free topic boards - lots of help there too. Wheat reduced (won't say free because I do CHOOSE to eat wheat on rare occasions - mom's cookies when I visit, grandson's Birthday cupcake) but I really try hard to avoid wheat in anything I make, eat out or shop for! Since June 21 - down 22#s with little…
  • Back in Ketosis .... 1.8 lbs gone in 3 days!!! Keto rocks!
  • I'm back in too! 1.8 lbs gone in 3 days!!!! Yipeee!
  • I am 5ft nothing, I started on 6/21 and the 1st two months I did average 2 lbs per week on about 800-1100 calories - no exercise. However, once the 1st 20 lbs came off I felt better, ate worse and things slowed down and now I am trying to get back on track and am adding exercise but I do not think I will be able to see a…
  • Congrats!!! I wish I would have those nasty flashback symptoms but it seems I can eat wheat occasionally without much ado. No gastric problems anyway. I am mostly wheat free, most days. But I too have been a bad girl the last couple weeks. Time to refocus before all those holiday goodies come my way!
  • New to this group. Have book New Rules.... Bought 12# bar and dumbells - Check! Goals: Read Book - take measurements - plan 1st lifting routine - Start Lifting during Vacation 9/25 - 10/1 Keep up food journaling

  • Yes, You still count calories and use MFP to monitor fat, carbs & protien. The breath thing varies with people and how deep into ketosis...not really an issue for me. I use the urine test strips you can get at any pharmacy to test. You do not need to go into the very dark mode - just a trace means you are in the zone.…
  • 5ft nothing, 57 on the 9/23...heaviest adult weight 158...lightest 106 (after a divorce=too skinny). Today I reached my 1st goal 135#. I decided to go for another 10 # so 125 here I come.
  • I know those of us who have experienced the changes/improvements of a wheat reduced lifestyle will understand and those who haven't won't get this but wheat reduction in your food choices in not just about gluten. As I have said, I do not have a gluten intolerance - I don't have the tummy/digestive issues that gluten…
  • This is great - Thanks! I already had the mostly daily weights in an Excel spreadsheet - piece of cake to make it a chart! I went back to the 1st of the year and until 6/21 (when I started MFP, wheatlessness and work with a WL clinic) I was maintaining within an 8# range (4#s up 4#s down). Then 6/21 and boom ... down the…
  • Got bumped out of Keto - why didn't I THINK!!!! Was at an Arthur Murray dance party Tuesday night. Ignored all the treats but completely spaced on the "punch"! It was the hottest night of the year and the theme was "Grease" came on the motorcycle with leathers and a pink "Frenchie" wig. I was dying from the heat and drank…

  • I had to cut way back on the wine... :( My hubby retired last October and took up winemaking as a hobby. He is making 30-60 bottles a month and it is all good. We were drinking a glass a week night and "several" glasses on the weekend nights. So now it is none for me during the week and only one glass most weekend nights.…
  • There is another board called Wheat Belly - this is a copy of my post from there. I have read the book. I know, another fad - but I started this in mid-June….and I have to say the results have been wonderful for me. I have lost 14lbs (yes I have also reduced other carbs and sugars as well - but that was much easier after I…
  • You may be interested in the conversation going on in the wheat belly topic board. Spirited discussion.
  • Just two more points - Lean meats and fats are a part of the Wheat Belly plan. Dr. Davis also explains why people who go "gluten-free" often do not lose weight and may even gain weight - it is because of the other "junk carbs" that are often substituted for wheat in gluten free processed foods and mixes. (like potato…
  • I know, another fad - but I started this in mid-June….and I have to say the results have been wonderful for me. I have lost 14lbs (yes I have also reduced other carbs and sugars as well - but that was much easier after I eliminated wheat). Beyond the weight loss - even more important to me has been: I am never Hungry!!!…
