I grew up next to a farm that grew Brussels sprouts, once harvested they let the plants rot in the field then tilled them under. 20 years later I still recall that horrid smell everytime I see them and it makes me gag.

This is so freaking cool! I would love to be able to do this however I know it would end in a need for the paramedics... I'm just not coordinated enough to pull this off.

When my brother was home on leave he came over and my hubby and I spent the night drinking with him. We were all totally wasted, I got revenge for all the stuff my brother pulled when we were kids by banging pots around while making breakfast and being as loud as possible since he had a killer hang over. I'm not sure how I…

I drink a protein shake before going to the gym

Did you graduate from Oregon City High? I did back in 1995...
-
I've never had a hangover either, no matter how wasted I've gotten...

I haven't cut anything out to lose weight, but I've cut out alcohol (screws up my runs the next morning) and I don't eat pork. Other than that if I like it (and it fits in my calories) I eat it
-
I've never had any pot, but sure I'll hug!!!

I grew up in Beavercreek, which isn't far from Boring! Nice to meet a former neighbor

I'm from Oregon but live in California, even after 16 years here I've still got my layer of rust!

The only time I will make something ahead of time to be cooked later is if I won't be home for dinner. My husband can't cook (he gave the kids and himself food poisoning the last time he cooked) and now my kids refuse to eat anything he makes, unless it's something I've put together. It's not a requirement to losing weight.

For me personally first I held onto a walker, then I held onto a cane.

I drink a lot of ice tea (because I like it), and I eat about 7 lbs of ice a day (yes I know it's bad for your teeth, but I have a total oral fixation thing and it's chew on ice, or pen caps, or my finger nails). I do drink water when I workout but rarely drink plain water otherwise.

When I was rehabbing with my hip surgery I held the rails on the treadmill as my hip could (and had) randomly popped out of socket with no warning. Not holding on could (and had) resulted into a nasty fall. I fell off the treadmill with bruises, and cuts ontop of a dislocated hip. Ever fly off a treadmill? I can tell you…

218.4 didn't meet my goal, but made it halfway there, and my goal was pretty aggressive.

Height: 5' 9 1/2" (I have a large frame) Starting weight: 251 (October 2014) Current weight: 218 Goal weight: between 165-180 (depends on how I look and feel, may be slightly lower, but won't be under 150ish as I tend to look unhealthy below that weight)

The gushers drive me nuts as well. I will admit if my kid does something super cool I'll post about it, and I usually try to say something nice about my hubby on his birthday and our anniversary (which are conveniently 6 months apart) but other than that he gets nothing from me on social media.

LMAO!!!!

I'm so happy to hear that I'm not the only person who does this! I also don't log my coffee or the creamer.....

You are missing the point. Leptin is created by FAT CELLS, therefor the only way to increase Leptin levels is to increase fat cells (aka GAIN weight). A day or two of "re feeding at maintenance" is not going to do that. Secondly the age of the study doesn't change the basic science, your "study" is the only one that says…
-
That's awesome!!
-
Yup! Except Leptin (which the few actual medical research I found all agree on) is created by fat cells, so it doesn't matter what you eat, unless "you're" increasing fat cells "you're" not raising Leptin levels. Which means it's nothing more than a gimmick to make money off of.

I LOVE shrimp, but HATE shrimp scampi.
-
Lol! I admit I skimmed (because I really don't care). Personally I think it all comes down to wanting easy fixes and lack of willpower to sticking to calories (both for loss and maintenance). If Leptin levels or Leptin resistance was truly an insurmountable thing gastric bypass wouldn't work, and people who have dropped…
-
According to OP's "study" obese people have low levels of Leptin, yet according to this study (as well as others) Leptin levels are HIGH in obese people: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/m/pubmed/17212793/
-
And yet you are still wrong. Leptin is created by fat cells NOT by eating at maintenance or slightly above. To increase Leptin levels (aside from taking a supplement) you would need to increase your fat stores. Even then it still comes down to calories in vs calories out. The entire purpose of Leptin is to inform the brain…

I would love to know what science you have proving your theory. The human body doesn't stockpile insulin, insulin is "created" by a section of the pancreas on an AS NEEDED basis. If your pancreas isn't able to create insulin (or sufficient insulin) eating a few more calories isn't going to fix it. I do have lower than…

A slight error on the calibration of the manual scale can cause weight differences that increase as the weight increases. So while it could be correct at 10pounds (or seem to be exact) it can be 1/4-1/2 a pound off (could be even higher) times that by 20 (to reach 200) and you looking at an error ratio of +|- 5 pounds.
-
I've lost 30 pounds so far and while the bands on my bras are lose, the cups are still filled the same. I would LOVE to have them end up smaller (I'm currently a 38DDD) I don't think it will happen and plan to get a breast reduction when I'm done losing weight.

From someone with kidney issues DO NOT try to dehydrate yourself, it's not worth the damage you can do to your kidneys. If you truly feel you have an issue with retaining to much water GO SEE YOUR DOCTOR! This can be an indication of an underlying medical issue!
