Remember to break up your big goal into smaller, easier-to-comprehend goals. I've been focusing on 10% increments towards my goal.

I started at 419 pounds. I began to notice a change in myself around 90 pounds lost, when I bought some new clothes.

Starchile: you have done amazingly well! Congrats!

I use a Garmin watch to track the runs along with heart rate, stride and temperature data. Garmin uploads to Garmin Connect. Here's my Garmin Connect page if anyone wants to friend me: http://connect.garmin.com/profile/ftw037 Then I use tapiriik (tapiriik.com) to sync with Runkeeper, Strava and Dropbox. Then I use…

Hi Loki: I understand how daunting a large weight loss can look from the beginning. The only way to eat the elephant is one bite at a time. I broke my loss down into 10% increments. When I get to another 10% level, I feel a real sense of accomplishment. I track my weight and body fat percentage on fitbit (and on my own…

My mental model of myself is way behind my physical changes. On the inside, I am still a fat man. I do have tons more physical energy and I am much happier on a day to day basis now I have lost some weight. But my demons and hangups are still very much present. Being thinner has not been my panacea. In the end, though, I'd…

Congratulations! That is a momentous milestone achievement!

I totally relate. I have been the "fat friend" and the fattest person in the room for a long, long time. I still think of myself as a fat man. When you're super morbidly obese like I was, you get used to the looks of disgust (at worst) and pity (at best) you get from total strangers in any public situation. Now, at 191…

I went down this same road myself when I started a year ago. I bought a fitbit for normal daily tracking (walking, puttering around, etc). I ended up using a Mio Alpha wrist mounted HRM linked via Bluetooth to my iPhone running Runkeeper for "exercise" activities. Now I use a Garmin watch with ANT+ Mio Link, stride sensor…

Wow! Inspirational! I'm totally intrigued by the body scans.

You were one of my first MFP friends, and you've been doing so well this past year. Sincere congratulations on your milestone. People don't know how hard it is to lose 100 pounds. But you managed to do it! I know you can reach all your goals now.

You rock!!!!!

Well done.

I record the run activity with my Garmin watch, with ANT+ HRM, footpod and temperature sensor. I use the iPhone app RunDouble to play music and give me audio cues for the intervals. RunDouble also records a GPS track but I mainly use it just to tell me when to warm up, when to run, when to walk, when I'm half-way done, and…

If I can lose weight, anyone can lose weight. Faithfully record everything you eat and drink, stay within your macros, and slowly add some exercise into your normal routine. You will succeed.

Congrats on "onederland!"

Excellent! Enjoy your improved, healthier you!

I stay focused by thinking in small week by week goals. Also I only weigh myself once a week, to prevent daily obsessing. Trends show up when you look at your data week by week.
-
Sincere congratulations. I know how hard it is to accomplish.

I've got both the Mio Alpha and the Mio Link wrist-based HRM bands. The Alpha uses Bluetooth to talk to my iPhone. The Link uses ANT+ to talk to my Garmin watch (and also does Bluetooth to the iPhone if you want). Both offer chest-strap-style results on your wrist. YMMV

Oh, do I ever know how this feels. At this point, if I don't wear my headphones while I do my C25K intervals, I can hear my flaps of loose skin literally flapping and slapping together noisily. Super embarrassing. But on the other hand, I remind myself I'm lapping everyone on the couch. And screw the haters.

For me, being obese turned out to be a symptom of, rather than a cause of, my general unhappiness. When it clicked for me that I was responsible for my own health care, and that I was worth being healthy, then the weight loss started to become a side effect, rather than a goal unto itself. Yes, I still count pounds, and…

You can do it. Faithfully and honestly record your food, eat to the plan, add exercise when you can. Worked for me.

I suppose. I get a one-measurement-per-second resolution during my runs with the Fenix. I wasn't aware faster measurement speeds were possible.+

Congrats! That's a serious milestone!

TOTALLY AGREE with the DC Rainmaker site as a place to start. (see link from dan323 above).
