Invest in a crock pot. There's one on sale at Walmart right now for $19... you can make some darn delicious meals and save time & money....not to mention cleanup. When making a recipe, double or triple the veggies to make it go further. Buy whatever veggies are on sale--no need to follow a recipe to a 'T'....carrots,…

Congrats on a terrific start. I agree with the others. THe worse thing you can do is deprive yourself (and your body) of the food it needs. Yes, it's important to operate at a deficit, but make it work for you. You're in for the long haul, so sit back, get used to the new you, set small goals (not all need to be weight…

I've got EllieCakes....my chocolate lab. She'll be 3 in May and still out of control, but I love her LOL

I'm on the homestretch now and aiming for 4 lbs a month loss...my other goals are to stay focused, in control, and to log everything.

WOW! Amazing success! Congrats.

I thought, "thank God for makeup".

It's part of life! I have had this happen to me, and as the others have suggested, it's only one meal. Opt for the best choice you have, and enjoy. I've gone out and enjoyed 2 slices of pizza and a glass of wine and weighed in a few days later, and no effects to be had. As long as it's just one meal, and you get right back…

I suffered from this for almost 10 years. Finally after taking/trying every suggestion and every medical prescription known to mankind I was referred to a sleep clinic and am now getting proper treatment. It's been 2 months now and I'm up to almost 4 hours a night. If I could get 5 or 6 I think I'd be in heaven and I do…

Wow! Totally impressive. Keep up the great work!

Hi. I'm in the same boat. 5 ft tall and 53. The thing I'm doing differently this time is lowering my weight loss weekly expectations. I'm consistent, I log everything (95% of the time), I walk further and faster, make good choices, but overall my expectations are that the loss will be slower. I average about a half pound a…

It's not much, but it's a start. I can run for 9 telephone poles :)

You've joined in September and have already lost 7 lbs. That's amazing! As the posts above have indicated, try not to focus so much on what to do or stress about if you're doing it right. Small steps work great in the beginning, both in choices for consumption and in incorporating exercise. Instead of measuring your…

Unfortunately this just happens sometimes, and it happens even if we exercise exactly the same, consume the exact same foods & water. I think our bodies just 'recalculate or correct' themselves sometimes. I've learned when this happens to celebrate non-scale victories such as making the right choices, exercising more than…

Wow! This is a horrible thing to happen to you, but what a wonderful thing to come out alive PLUS still focused! You are already a winner in my books. I know the hurdle may be more challenging than before your accident, so take care of yourself and everything else will fall into place. Get well!

What worked for me was getting up an hour earlier, before 'mommy' time. It means you have to go to bed a bit earlier, but after awhile it just becomes your norm. We get up just before 5, have a nice quiet visit and quick cup of coffee, and then hit the pavement before the sun comes up for a brisk 30-40 minute walk every…

Me too! 53 years old. 5 feet. Started at 200. Now around 165

Retaining too much fluid is not only reflected on the scale, but over time can be hard on the kidneys and the heart. Especially if your blood pressure is high or if you are overweight or not active enough. Don't let it go too long before consulting your physician.

I do, then divide the calories by the number of servings in the recipe.

I too can SO relate. What saves me is making soups...all kinds of soup recipes out there which are flavored with herbs and spices (which are much cheaper at the bulk stores if you cannot grow your own--also easy & cheap). Someone else said eggs--great choice. Watch for meat on discount...it's still good as long as it is…

I am so glad you posted this. I'm supposed to weigh about 100 lbs but my goal (right now) is 135, so I'll still be considered overweight/almost obese when I reach my initial goal. In a previous attempt to get healthy in the past, I did get very close to 100 but it was impossible to maintain, and over time I failed to…

I love #2 and your arms look lovely! Have fun.

Mine was slower also. 1.22 lbs/week for the first 26 weeks. It's starting to slow down a bit now, though :(

I'm 4'11 1/2" and have somewhere between 60 & 75 lbs to lose (haven't picked my goal yet). I'm just about half way there. Feel free to add me also.
