HI Nancy When you say "workout" are you doing strength training as well as cardio? The strength training will help with adding lean muscle. Also, I can't see your diary, but are you eating enough lean protein [white meat chicken and turkey, steamed baked or broiled fish, nuts, beans, veggie burgers?] I've also heard.. and…

On April 8th I will have been at my gym for a year [average 6 nights per week]. I am rewarding myself with a Heart Rate Monitor. [I've wanted one forever, though only recently learned how very helpful they can be.] I look forward to knowing more accurately what I've burned. :flowerforyou: PS What is the "bump" people do on…

Starvation mode is when you restrict your calories so much, that your body thinks it is going to starve, and therefore begins to shut down on you. When this happens, your body holds onto calories, body fat, etc. thinking it "needs" it because it is "starving". So, to keep this from happening, you have to eat enough…

I've read you should eat protein within 30-60 minutes after a workout. As far as throughout the day, any lean protein would work: tuna, white chicken meat, white turkey meat, lean cuts of beef, veggie burgers, skim milk, etc. I'm not sure why someone would say you don't need to increase muscle to lose weight, bc muscles…

Not sure why you would crave it. I've read, like others, it's good for stabilizing blood sugar and good for metabolism. I love it in coffee in the morning, or added to sugar free yogurt. I wonder IF perhaps, you are eating less of other things [you mentioned chocolate] your tastebuds might be changing.. and "filling in"…

I am the same way. Some days I feel like a ROCK STAR, others I feel there is sooo far to go. From your profile dual pic I CAN see a big difference in you. You even look younger! It may take a while for your mind to catch up..but it will! :-}

Thanks. I was 237 at my highest. I was roughly 225 last January. I am not exactly certain what weight I was one year ago. I am now 184. So it's more like 41 lbs in 14 months. I really didn't have a calorie goal before I joined here. I just joined the gym... tried to eat healthy. and tried to burn 400-500 calories/day to…

I'm feeling rebuked! Eeeek. My nutrition is where I struggle the most. I eat a lot of "healthy" foods [fiber, protein, chicken, fish, turkey, egg whites, tuna] but emphasis on a LOT. Peanut butter and ice cream were downfalls, too. I now buy a single serve skinny cow as a treat on Saturdays. I use peanut butter on days I'm…

Thanks. I am actually in a 14 jeans..when I was in a 20. My tops are an XL when they were 2x. My workout pants are a large.. not 2x. In fact- last time I went into a fashion bug, the sales lady called me over and said I was on the wrong side [I was in the plus section..which is where I'd been shopping til recently!]

Hi Yes, I am way more fit than last year. I have way more endurance and stamina. I used to do weight training for about 30-45 mins then cardio for 45 to 60 mins. Now I do weight training for an hour or more, with 30-45 mins cardio. I have well defined muscles in my legs and stronger arms. I can run up 3 flights of stairs -…

Awwww, you made me cry. Instantly! You're right, there was a lot of other "stuff" going on to overcome besides the weight. Was just having a down moment I guess. ["Beach weather" coming up.] Thanks! Love you!

There is a big difference! You're doing great! Often it takes our eyes and head to catch up with our bodies. We are so used to "seeing" us fat, we don't always notice. But others can give you more honest feedback. :)

I have experienced the same perspire/not perspire much "phenomenon". Sometimes I think it has to do with how much/well I've eaten pre workout. If I'm slow to get started eating in the day - or don't have enough fuel in me- I find the workout harder and not as beneficial. If, however, I eat the right stuff, in good amounts…

Hey Can I ask what you're doing to get your butt higher? I'm working out and losing inches, and though my butt is small, I'd like more of a roundness to it and higher. Just curious what you're doing? Thanks.

I have a Toy Fox Terrier who LOVES the outdoors. I adopted him from Arkanasas and I live in Massachusetts. Even during snowfall, windy days, etc. he is pulling me on the leash to "go walk". Sometimes I have to carry him to a shoveled spot bc to "potty" and yet he wants to climb snowfalls! ;-} I am going to try jogging this…

"Lunch on a leash- now that's funny! ;-}

Thank you. I wasn't sure what those buttons were for. I definitely feel better and am motivated to keep forging ahead. :)

I agree with the othe posts so far, you probably just need to let it go. Like you pointed out, you can't control her actions and you don't want to argue. Maybe when she sees your success, she will be motivated to go again. Maybe she's just not that committed to it and the new bf is a good excuse not to go. On the positive…

I checked out this site. Great. fun. I started at my highest weight, however, and entered today's weight [54 lbs lighter] and could not see a change. I put my weight to 105 lbs [at 5-2, not an actual goal] and I could see the change. I also set it to 131 [close to my actual goal. .I will know for sure when I get there] and…

I agree with the other posters. Beans are a good source of fiber and protein and fairly inexpensive. You can buy them canned and stock up when they are on sale. Couple beans with brown rice and you have a complete protein. You can season it to taste with anything that doesn't contain too much sodium [I use salsa on tons of…

Hi How many pounds [weight] are you looking to use? You could start with soup cans... or water bottles full of water or sand. You could increase the amount of sand, etc. if you need more intensity. Weights [locally, anyway] are about $1 - $1.50 per lb.. so once you've committed to using your water bottles, it woudln't be…

Exactly what the previous post said. You want lean ground turkey breast. When you cook it, it should turn white.. not brown. I've grown to love lean ground chicken breast. The fat is low.. the calories low..and it's amazing in chili, tacos, etc. :)

Hi There are lots of good ideas already posted here. Another option is a lunch container [a friend of mine has one, as she cannot heat up her lunch either and likes to bring warm lunches now and then]. The lid of the container is microwaveable and keeps the food warm for at least 4 hours. I stock my office drawer with low…

Hi. I walk mainly on a treadmill and walk in "fat burn" mode a couple times a week .. which is less difficult .. and I walk at "cardio" mode the other nights. I can tell you this: I burn TONS more calories at the cardio pace than I do at the fat burn mode. That's bc I walk faster and bc I walk at a higher incline-thus the…
