  • Gotta try these. And share the recipe with my chocolate loving friends! Cream of tartar is a white powder sold with other spices. You can buy a very small container. It gives is a particular taste and texture, I believe. I've never tried the lemon instead. But will.. since I have the lemon on hand. Yum!! :) PS Bump is…
  • RANGER: How does one go about figuring his/her won BMR? Thanks!
  • Personally, I find it works for me. My understanding is that you want to "keep your body guessing" both in caloric intake and exercise. In exercise your body adjusts, so keeping it random, keeps your body on its toes. :) I notice when i go up 180-250 calories about every 4 days, I drop weight. I've been watching this since…
  • If you come from a family of larger people, perhaps when they see your success, they are looking at themselves as failures. Instead of focusing on you and supporting your hard work and effort, they are focusing on themselves, and feeling poorly about themselves. Just a thought. Perhaps it's best to talk about your health…
  • Way to go! You could take a picture of you in them and put it up as a motivator for the fall.. jeans IN boots. Nice job!
  • I heartily agree with this post. I got one and now I know exactly what I burn. You can also use the "quick add" feature and just log the calories you burned, unless you want to keep a running log of workouts. :)
  • Remember that when you ask questions here you may be talking to nutritionists or the average Joe who may only what he's read here. There are lots of good articles online, some great ones on the message boards here [written health professionals and personal trainers]. I also borrow books from my local library. In the end,…
  • No, you certainly do not. You look good. I don't see any parts unproportionate to any other parts. :) But you have to feel good in your own skin, too. Is your goal a particular number? Or to fit into a certain skirt/pair of jeans? Or is it determined by how you feel, level of energy, and being within a healthy BMI/weight…
  • At first I did not like the Greek yogurt, but so many people praised it's protein count and the taste, that I tried it again orver the holiday weekend. I tried the Chobani Pineapple [2% fat, and 160 calories] and it was fantastic. For me thought, the calories are too high. [I don't have a problem with going over on fats,…
  • What are your protein/fat/carbs set for? Maybe they are too low, so it looks live you've eaten too much? Swap out bread for low carb wraps/ or.. I love Joseph's pitas [60 calories for a whole one, makes a great pizza! fat free cheese, chicken, red peppers, onions, red sauce or low sugar BBQ sauce. Swap out white potatoes…
  • It sounds like you got the seat for which you paid. It didn't take anything away from you and she got a bonus. They were probably unprepared for such a situation and did the best they could on the fly. I wonder if they will add some type of clause for future events......I don't think I'd resent her for the upgrade, bc, I…
  • Oh..while we are on a related topic.. can anyone tell me why my settings [% of cals from protein/fat/carbs] keep changing back to what I can only guess is a default? I want them at: 40 protein / 30 carb / 30 fat I checked today, they were back at: 55% carb / etc. I was wondering why it kept saying over in protein with tons…
  • I don't remember seeing a prompt or a message reminder.. but I do notice that for every lb. lost... my calories go down by appro. 10 Even though I workout 6x/week .. I changed my activity setting from mildly active to sedentary. This took me from 1440 cals to 1280. I had been "stuck" .. and that got me going again. Of…
  • I was gonna say, cut them into bite sized pieces and nuke for a few minutes. I do this with apples [nuke longer, tho] and the warmth makes it more satisfying to me, feels like "dessert". I do this with 1/2 a sweet potato, too. Sometimes I think I'm craving, say, pancakes, but it's really the cinnamon I want or the syrup. I…
  • My neice [19 yrs old] is doing it. My brother says she will be "ripped in 60" bc she's doing it every other day. Haha! But I believe she said she saw results in under 2 weeks and really feels she is getting an intense workout. Good luck!
  • Pitbull - "I know you want me." [Use this to begin my cardio. Always gets me going.] Enrique Iglesias- "Tonight I'm Lovin You" Taio Cruz- "Rockstar" Nickelback- "Burn it to the Ground" [great for lifting weights!!] and "S.E.X." [I have to be careful not to sing it too loud near folks who are NOT wearing headphones. lol…
  • Time to set better boundaries and choose our "friends" more selectively, eh? :))
  • Calories are more important over a week than per day. Take of 50 calories for the next 4 days if that will make you feel better. I'm reading a lot that one day over is a good thing, reinforcing to your body that it can burn calories, bc you'll give it plenty. It's the same principle of mixing up your workout routine so…
  • I would ask the instructor. Im surprised they didn't show you some stretches specific for the exercise you will be doing. You could also google leg stretches etc. I've found great stuff doing that. on U-tube too. :)
  • I agree with SALLYH and TROMARON. Do you mean a rest day as in doing no form of exercise, or a rest day inbetween [say you work your biceps and triceps on Monday, should you wait until Wednesday?] Yes, if you are working your muscles hard, there are fine tears that happen. Then your body mends the tears creating new…
  • This week I tried the Emerald Cocoa Roasted Almonds. Amazing! They come in 100 calorie packs so it's portion controlled, too. I had eaten the plain almonds and the cinnamon roasted ones, but was hesitant to buy the cocoa ones, thinking a little taste of chocolate would make me want more, but not so! It has ONE sugar per…
  • How does your skin look using the mix of these products? Can you see a significant improvement? I've heard cocoa butter works and I have to say it has for me. I used to use a stick- pure cocoa butter- on stomach stretch marks. Now I use a thick cocoa butter cream that has Vitamin E. The reddish purple color is gone.. they…
  • The trainer at my gym recommends 4-6 oz of protein 3x/day for women [4-6 oz for men]. That being said, it's always a good idea to ask your doctor or a nutritionist if you're concerned. Too much protein can supposedly kill your kidneys, but how much that actually is for each of us I don't know. I am always over on protein…
  • I recently got "scalped" at the hair dressers. At least, I thought so. But my cowokers and friends [women!] all love it. In fact, I must admit, I now love it, too. I often feel like short hair is "boyish" but I'll tell you, once I got used to it, it made me feel kind of sassy/sexy. I don't know if it's my attitude or the…
  • Too funny! When I eat there.. I only eat 1/2 of the bread... always get chicken [deli meats are high in sodium] .. no cheese... get the "sauce" on the side. Still a halfway decent choice if you have to eat on the run. I've read if you are workout out [i.e., sweating it out] you can have a somewhat higher sodium intake. I…
  • Exactly! If you eat natural sugar try and pair it with a protein or fat, it slows the absorption of sugar, so you won't peak and crash.. which makes you crave more sugar. Sugar, in many ways, is more dangerous than fat bc of it's addictive properties and it's in SO many things these days! Read your labels. :)
