Almost 50. Lifting heavy and CrossFit for 2 years. Runner for 14 years. Never felt or looked better than now, even at the same weight in hs.

I can back squat more than I weigh.

I love being able to buy regular bras in a regular store. The unexpected part is that the features I used to require (like high, structured sides) are now uncomfortable. The muscles along the top of my shoulder to my neck aren’t sore all the time any more, either!

I like obscure local races with funny names.

What color was your urine? This may give a better idea of hydration/salt balance. Hyponatremia can be fatal. Get your fuel/hydration plan dialed in through further training. Keep notes on weather and intake/urine color/etc. Seems like a lot of Gu for a marathon, but ymmv.

There are several threads here on different weight lifting programs. Most long term fitness lifters do some sort of progressive lifting plan.

The dcrainmaker blog mentioned above is the go-to source for runners gear comparison. He’s the man.

I calculate estimated NET calories burned based on my heart rate. If I do GROSS calories and eat them back, I gain weight. (I weigh in the 130s and the minimum calories is 1200, so I don’t have a lot of margin of error.) I’ve successfully lost and kept off about 45 pounds this way.

It took me 15 years to lose the baby weight. You’re doing fine.

Much to my surprise, I absolutely love Crossfit. My gym is owned and run by a couple who have Masters level degrees in kinesiology and performance fitness from a major US university. They are meticulous about form for everyone in every class. They are amazing about adapting moves (called "scaling" in Crossfit lingo) for…

I use a step tracker/ heart rate/ sleep tracker ring called Motiv. I love it. I don’t like having stuff all over my wrists all the time.

There are enzymatic cleaners specifically for tech gear, but Nature’s Miracle pet odor remover does the same thing. I wash in cold w/ oxyclean, then a 2nd wash w/ the enzyme cleaner. Don’t put tech clothes in the dryer: air dry.

I’m 5’6.5” / 47 yo / weigh 140 I’m not trying to lose weight. My goal is to get strong and lose fat. I was fluffy. I’ve dropped 10% fat while maintaining my weight through very intentional food and weight lifting. I’ve always been a runner at every weight, so that is my constant. I’m a lot faster now, though.

When I can't get to Crossfit, my coach texts me home workouts w/ the equipment I have available. Assuming you are paying the gym for Crossfit, they should offer this to you at no extra cost.

I had a Jawbone Up2 that I loved, but it eventually broke. I had the skinny silicone band kind. This Thanksgiving, I got a ring that does heart rate, sleep, and steps. I absolutely love it. Motiv https://mymotiv.com/design

This is 6 weeks of changing my workouts from running only to a mix of running and functional fitness classes (similar to crossfit) and watching the quality of what I ate, but same calorie range as before.
-
I use a Jawbone Up 2 that was about $20 on Amazon, new. I love it.

I love mine & have had it for a long time. Hope it hangs in there!

Nobody else noticed at all until I was down 30 pounds. I noticed at 10 down, but nobody else did.

You are amazing! 20 pounds IS success.

I am sorry that happened to you. I am allergic to sugar alcohols (maltitol, Sorbital, Manitol, Xylitol are just some of the names), which are in Fiber One bars, and cause the exact same results. It's in almost every "low carb" or reduced sugar processed sweet, including gum and some beverages. You may want to check the…
