If most of your food comes from a single serving box, you will have more luck without a scale. If you cook from ingredients it's a lot harder to know if that densely packed or leveled off measuring cup is really a 'cup' of something. It's really easy to be off with cups and spoons because some things are not meant to be…

It's really habit that keeps me going at this point. When I still need a little motivation I just look at old pictures of myself (either at my goal weight or highest weight, depending on which way I need to push myself that day.)

Wet your hair and put (any) conditioner on it before putting on your swim cap. I wash my hair 5 times a week after swimming I use L'Oreil kids chlorine removing shampoo, it's cheap (around $3) and gentle. Triswim makes a good chlorine removing bodywash, I can tell if I miss the smallest place on my arm because I can smell…

There are 4 other similar books by some of the same authors. 'The New Rules of Lifting' is helpful for men and women (but NROLFW is specifically targeted at women.) There is also 'The New Rules of Lifting for Life,' 'The New Rules of Lifting for Abs' and 'The New Rules of Lifting Supercharged.' I only have a copy of the…

I personally prefer the texture/lightness Kind or Cliff bars because I'm less likely to get heartburn if I eat one before exercising.
-
I read it a while back, I found it had a lot of helpful information. Even if you choose to do a different program like Stronglifts, Strong Curves or whatever it's still worth a read if you are new to lifting.

I was thinking logging it as exercise so I could log each session and get a little closer to the actual calories than the 500c estimate but that might be more of a pain than it's worth. I just really want to make sure I'm covered calorie wise for the first six weeks while I establish a supply. That's a good point about the…

I'm glad you found a watch that you like. I got a Garmin Swim for myself for Christmas. I like it, I have it synced with mfp through garmin connect so it started logging my swims for me. I have it synced with swim.com too, I joined the 100 mile swim club so I would like to see my swim total for the year so I know when I…

Different things are soothing to different people, BBC's shipping forecast can put me to sleep. It doesn't even matter if it's a recent or old broadcast, I found some recordings of it and play them on my ipad. I wouldn't go out and buy apps, especially if you don't know what will work for you. You can find tons of beach…

I have fitbit synced because I like to have my activity set to sedimentary and have my calories adjusted based on what I actually do for the day. Also garmin connect, so I do not need to log my exercise anymore. I like that fitbit has a pregnancy and nursing setting that adjusts mfp's calories. I like that some models…

I mentally hated seeing red even when it was something that didn't matter. (I eat tons of vegetables and fruit so I was always over on fiber, so I stopped tracking it.) You can adjust what you track here myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings just take sugar off and replace it with something you'd prefer to see daily. You…

Yogurt inherently has some lactose sugar in it, you are not going to find any that has very low sugar. A lot of the lower sugar ones use artificial sweeteners for the flavoring to try and keep it low. I like Siggi's brand 9g sugar/13g protein/110c a container (varies by flavor.) Their plain still has 4g of sugar per…

Is there a YMCA you could join? There are always kids playing in the playrooms, indoor pools and indoor playground/basketball court at my branch. 'Child watch' is included in the membership, it's $8 more a month to add a child where we live. It would give you some alone time to exercise during the day and your 3 year old a…

Look on youtube, there are a lot of fitness videos and you can try out different things until you find something you like.

I got a prescription for compression thigh high stockings 20-30 mmhg. I went to the medical supply store and a woman that worked there had me take off my jeans in the store and show my husband how to put them on me wearing gloves. They were over $90 Mediusa brand. (I would not have gone this route if I had known but I'm a…

I originally had a fitbit ultra but just got a fitbit one. I like that I can discretely clip it to my bra instead of having it on my wrist, just a preference. I would have gone for a zip but I didn't want to worry about a battery and it doesn't track sleep. (I'm about to have a newborn so I really want to track sleep.) If…

I agree with the above that you should consult your OB. MFP doesn't have a pregnancy setting, Fitbit and Sparkpeople does. I set MFP to maintenance, and have my fitbit and garmin swim set to sync. You could do maintenance+300 as a guide until your next doctor's visit. I can't offer any advice because I'm 35 weeks and still…

I've had to lookup who any of these people were, and I still don't know for the ones that are only a picture. Bella falconi's abs are inspirational, wow.

I donated all my old clothes a few years ago, I realized that even when I am back to the size I was at 20 I don't want to dress like a 20 year old at 30. It would be nice to know I could fit into them again, I wish I had kept something for posterity.

My grandmother kept going back to atkins, she would eat nothing but steak, cottage cheese and pork rinds. I hated seeing her do it to herself but it was better than some of her stranger diets like only eating bananas and fig newtons for 3 months. She has finally stopped dieting, but only because she's on dialysis. :/ I…

Oh no I think all those cleanse and wackadoo ideas are very silly and a little funny. Curiosity got the better of me and I had to look for any redeeming value of eating clay.
-
That's funny I just had to look, I couldn't find a nutrient profile for clay but I did see an article talking about how pregnant women eat dirt sometimes. "Mineral content in clays vary from region to region, but many contain high levels of calcium, iron, copper and magnesium." I guess it can hit your micros, but I'd…

I'm going to buy new clothes and have them tailored to fit. I feel so much more confident in clothes that fit me. I'll be glad to stop wearing baggy clothes but I don't want to spend much on clothes until I am at a weight I intend to stay at.

This, I am happy with what I was given I just have a lot of work to do. Just for the sake of the thread I would love to have a body like Gina Carano's, but I know I would have bigger hips even if I did her exact routine.
-
Oh that's great to hear, Thanks again.

Memberships sounds like a great idea, I'm going to try staying at home at least until she's in preschool so I'm sure I will get so antsy and it will be great to have places to take her fairly regularly. I thought I read Sci Quest was closing. That's cool about the reciprocal agreement I hope to do day trips to Nashville,…

Eat when you feel hungry, just track what you eat and stay within your calories. You'll find what works best for you with time. I like having 3 meals/2-3 snacks so I don't get grumpy some people like to eat all their calories in one big meal. Whatever works.
