  • When I had an abundance of cucumbers last summer I made refridgerator pickles with them. Very easy and my kids (and hubby) loved them! :)
  • Also, if your child is following their own natural growth curve...if he has always been tall and thin, then that might just be how he is, period. My 4th child is now two. He has always been long and skinny... in the 90s for height while being in the 20s for weight. Very different for my other three kids who have always…
  • Most peds are not well versed in adequate nutrition for kids. Sad but true. I would not feed my child pediasure. There was a lot of info that came out a few years ago about how unhealthy that stuff really is. Most headlines read "not so sure about Pediasure" and "PediaSURE? Think again".... lol. For extra calories you…
  • You could make yogurt. Easier to do than you might think! Google for directions...you can even make it in the crockpot. Also, you can strain it afterwards to thicken it up to greek yogurt consistency.

  • As for my goals... at this time my preference is for good tone. I still have a lot of FAT to lose and I focus mainly on cardio - about an hour a day. I want to do some resistance though to insure I'm not losing lean muscle mass along the way. My body naturally is on the muscular side, so I am a little leery of doing…
  • Good info, thanks for the responses!
  • That's why I find having BodyMedia Fit so helpful... I can gauge where I am and adjust my calorie intake appropriately. My calorie expenditure varies a lot day to day, even without workouts figured in.
  • Twenty boxes of butter! Body fat and butter have basically the same density too, so just imagine strapping 20 boxes of butter to your body. Good riddance!
  • Sunflower kernels? They can be messy (and tricky) to eat on the go, but that's one of my go-to snacks. A handy way I've found to tote and eat them is to use one of the plastic cylinder cases that mini M&M's come in. I poured the candy into a snack mix for my kids and have used the container for the sunflower kernels ever…
  • If you like almonds you need to try the Blue Diamond dry roasted smokehouse Jalepeno almonds! They are soooooo good. The spicy kick is deeeelicious! They are hard to find, I can only find them at one grocery store - but well worth the hunt!
  • GOOD FOR YOU!!!!
  • I have the bluetooth version aswell, but for iPhone. I don't have any trouble with it at all.... other than if I'm using the "workouts" function outside it tends to lose connection - it doesn't have any trouble keeping connected inside though.
  • I seem to sway back and forth - I'll lose pounds and not inches for a couple weeks and then my weightloss will taper off while I drop inches like crazy. In the past two weeks I've lost only one pound on the scale, but dropped one whole pants size!
  • Yep, my hair has been on a downward spiral. It's been the bane of my existence since the birth of my 4th child (nearly two years ago) My diet is better than ever, I take vitamins. I do wrestle with low iron (due to very heavy TOM) even though I take iron sups and eat iron rich foods. I'm at the end of my rope with it,…

  • Same here. I can't believe how badly I ate, and for so long, and didn't ever make the connection that it was that way of eating that was making me gain so much weight. Of course now I'm just like "DUH!", but I really had my head in the sand for years. I won't be making THAT mistake again.
  • The opposite is true for me. The machine underestimates by about 20% what my HRM indicates.
  • It's hard for me to believe I used to such a couch potato because these days I am craving exercise. I exercise every day. When I go to the gym (usually four times a week) I'm there for 1.5 hours. I'd be there longer, but that's the time limit for the childcare room. LOL Then I'm walking for a few miles a day in addition to…
  • I keep a couple in my freezer for days when nothing else sounds good or for when I've got too much of a deficit I need to fill in. I don't think they should be the cornerstone of your diet, but for occasional meals I think they are fine!
  • Another BodyMedia Fit user here - on a regular non-workout day (about two of those a week) I burn around 2600 calories a day. On workout days it's more in the 3500 range.
  • I don't think increasing your water intake is going to help at all. I take prescription irons supplements, but there are a lot over the counter. I'd chat with a pharmacist at whatever store you go to and ask their advice. Taking iron with vitamin C helps absorption.
  • The problem with counting steps as exercise is that the pedometer doesn't know the difference between exercise-walking and just casual walking. You are not upping your fitness level by mosing around your kitchen or walking to the bathroom. I'd count pedometer steps/calories ONLY if you are using it solely on fitness…

  • When I go to the gym (3-4 times a week), I'm there for a minimum of an hour, usually 1.5 hours. I break my time between elliptical/treadmill, rowing, weight machines and burn 1000-1350 calories (according to Polar HRM).
  • Same here! I now spot for several days before it really starts and then it is much much lighter than before. Which is a HUGE blessing becasuse it was really beyond awful before. I hope that it stays this way and doesn't go back to "my normal" once my weightloss ends... I can actually live a regular life now during TOM…
  • GOOD FOR YOU!!!! You look fantastic and I bet you FEEL fantastic too!!
  • I also have the BodyMedia Fit. It's been a fabulous tool to have during this weight loss journey! I was also not eating enough in the beginning - by a lot! When I started MFP I was eating 1600 a day. Well, thanks to BMF I see that on a day I do NOT exercise I burn 2600 calories a day, and on the days I do workout (which is…
  • I'm sorry you are having a hard time! To be able to exercise in peace I either go to the gym (and leave my toddler and preschooler in the childcare room) or on non-gym days I will workout to a video or wii while my toddler naps (and preschooler is at preschool). Otherwise I rely on my husband to watch the kids so I can go…
  • This doesn't bode well for me...I've got stretch marks e.v.e.r.y.w.h.e.r.e. I read that keeing the skin well moisturized during weightloss can help... and I'm applying the Jergen's Firming lotion and Dove's Cream Oil religiously! I'm hoping for the best.....
  • I started WW in January and enjoyed the program. I started doing MFP along with WW in February... my results were the same with both programs - when i'd be out of "points" for the day I'd also be out of calories on MFP. After tracking with both for a couple months I decided to cancel WW. MFP is free and easier .... and for…
  • Thanks for the little ray of hope! I've had four c-sections, and the results are not pretty. That lower tummy pouch has been mocking me.
  • You said you got new shoes and they didn't help.... did you just pick out shoes yourself? You said you tried a few different brands, but to really know you are getting the RIGHT shoe for your foot you really need to go to a good running shoe store and be fitted. They will watch you walk and run and match you up with the…
