Looks like you are trying hard to move forward. Sometimes pushing changes what would have worked if you just gave it a little time. See if giving it a little more time works. If not maybe slowly implemented tweaks will help. Looks like you are doing great though. :)

I had a coach back when I was still doing competitive sports. The best advice he gave me was really simple. He said: "FMF, sport is done so that you can improve your health, body, mind and spirit. It is not done to destroy those things." When you are in competitive sports, people go to great lengths to obtain a competitive…

Mindfulness when eating. We can reach for garbage and eat mindlessly when busy or stressed. Mindfulness in meal prep, shopping and when enjoying our food, especially when sharing it with loved ones and friends gives me a boost. And with mindfulness, also gratitude for living in a land of plenty with ample choices, even if…

I believe that when you are doing the things you ought to be doing or moving in that direction, no obstacle in the way of a healthier and fitter self can stand in my way. It's not because I have an iron will but because the flood of good habits washes away everything negative in my way. That doesn't mean you can wing your…

You are probably walking faster that I am running currently. :) I think that you should focus on a longer term view. What and how many positive things can I introduce into my lifestyle that 1, 2, 5 years down the road will make me the healthiest, happiest person? That is a question that needs long-term goals. To reach…

The philosophical question is really, even if we could, whether we should, given all of the unknown and unintended consequences, as well as all of the ethical quandaries.

Natural selection is a modern Darwinian theory of evolution. Evolution through genetic mutation predates Darwin and was understood by farmers and horticulturists in ancient times, way before the discovery of genes. Farmers knew how to breed animals and plants to achieve desired characteristics for hundreds, even thousands…

Sorry to hear that. Looks like you caught a tough break. It's not like you can say no to the military - that's what you sign up for. Hope that you are staying fit through other ways. Let me know if you are logging on another thread and I'll look you up. I bet that you didn't let that setback hold you back from the goals…

I thought I would be stiffer for longer in my legs due to lactic acid build up from my sudden runs. Surprisingly after day 3 my legs felt fine after my runs. Looks like I'm flushing the lactic acid in my legs better than I expected. My upper body is not flushing the lactic acid as quickly so still sore in the shoulders and…

Bought a few prepack salads with grilled chicken at Trader Joe's for $5.50 each. Easy to pick up when hungry and eat until I get tired of them. Gotta have healthy options within reach for when I get hungry. Just tossed this one in a bowl and ate it all. Yum. :)

You can definitely lose weight without exercise but you would be slowly giving up your health. I would seek resources to consult about exercising within your current constraints. Did you have PT after your stroke? Did they provide you with an exercise plan or routine. The prior posters about discussion groups with folks…

Plateaus happen to everyone. Try to adjust and improve you plan, execute and believe in it. You can always learn more but don't let obstacles like this keep you from becoming the person you are willing to work hard to become. All the best. :)

Usually people set caloric intake to an number that loses a certain amount of over a period of time like 0.5lbs, 1lb or 2lbs per month. If you do exercise on top of that, the app will add calories that will still allow you to lose those sane amounts because you've exercised to offset the higher calorie count. So eating the…
