I used to think a runners high is some kind of giddy, dreamy, floating like feeling that makes you just want to smile and giggle all the time after having a long distance run

I have always assumed its because I don't consistently consume and expend the same energy everyday. The experts here will perhaps have a more scientific answer that would interest me too.

OP I agree it takes hard work to lose weight and be healthy. I find the hardest part is getting yourself to do it( be it eat healthier meals at a deficit or exercise). Once you get going I personally find it OK, even exciting at times.

This is me too! Trying everything out to figure out what I enjoy most and can stick with longest. The problem I have is I like almost everything so far

I would find it harder to keep going strong for 1.5 hours straight. I would personally split it into 2 workouts, each 45 minutes long ( cardio AM ...Weights PM) I sit all day so the 8 hours between the two workouts would give me enough time to recover I guess.. This 3 days a week then a longer session on the weekend sounds…

Just one more tip ;) I found it easier at the beginning to start with only 3 days a week Mon, Wed and Fri. This way I always told myself I can sleep longer tomorrow. Some people find it easier to wake up the same time every day. My body doesn't seem to mind if I wake up at different times as long as I get my 8 hours of rest

Me too.. I was looking forward to a good chuckle

Right.... I see it now! Reduce activity➡️Reduce calorie to maintain weight. Thanks

In my example there was no 'surplus of food' but rather a reduction on exercise. She was on a 2500 calorie the whole time. The only thing that changed was her activity.

Thank you all for your input. What I have gathered from all your comments is that theoretically it is possible to lose weight just by adding vigorous exercise without increasing calorie intake but practically/in real life its very hard to do it that way.

Watching the olympics made me want to be able to run 100m under 13s just one more time. Impossible with 40lbs extra weight!

Congratulation! How tall are you?

I am in a similar situation but mine is compounded by the fact that I don't want to overly restrict the lives of those around me by my choice of a different lifestyle. Therefore as much as I have asked them to be supportive, I don't think I have stressed it seriously how much it means to me. This makes it harder for me to…

:D That is what I thought too

Thank you OP. This is just what I needed today. After reading your post I went for a 13 mile bike ride. Your words kicked me into gear :-)
