I just got the same news from my doctor today, that my bad cholesterol was higher than they want to see it. She advised me to try the Mediterranean diet for a couple months and then they will retest. Hopefully that will bring it down. Lots of info on that eating style out there, easy to Google. Basically focus is on…

Logging regularly for the first time in a few years, and it seems to be back to a routine I can manage. With that and regular long walks I am feeling healthier that I have since before the pandemic.

Happy almost Tuesday everyone. I am successfully logging and bought a food scale to replace one that’s gone missing since the last time I was faithfully keeping track. I don’t weigh everything but I find it helps for some things, especially as I retrain myself to gauge portions better. Also walking a lot.Things are headed…

Thanks Lisa! Although I do love spicy Cajun food and onions, like you I do love being the age where I don’t have to pretend to like anything I don’t!

I donated a huge bag recently. I am gradually buying items at smaller sizes, and going to consignment shops, because I don't think I'm done making positive changes. ☺

Fabulous loss, and what a great outlook you have. You have a right to be proud!

Hi, I'm 5'2" and 120lbs, still trying to undershoot maintenance to gradually lose a couple more lbs. I eat above my bmr of about 1350 and closer to what my fitbit calculates as my tdee calorie burn, usually 400 calories more than that.

Great transformation!

Amazing!

This made my day! Congratulations!

5' 2" SW 143 lbs CW 122 lbs GW 115-118lbs based on how I'm feeling now. I'd like to lose a bit more belly fat and gain a bit of muscle or get more lean. That'll be my focus in the coming months, while trying to transition to maintenance.

Some of the helpful getting started posts talk about this. "So you want a flat belly.." And the ever popular "sexypants". You're in good company. Those posters talk about the need to incorporate some strength training at some point. Now that I am close to my own goal weight, that's probably what's next for me too... In my…

Indulge in moderation. Log what you eat, and try to make it fit (drop that extra slice of bacon or bread from dinner) and if you can't make it fit in a single day, see if you can make it fit over the course of a week. Since I've been logging, it's easier for me to resist, because I understand the tradeoffs. But when I…

Me too... And sometimes I recall something only after clicking. Nothing prevents you from logging after for an accurate picture.

I weigh daily (unless I am too rushed or away from home). I log it every couple weeks, when I've seemed to stabilize around a new low. I like the data... I also heard a good analogy once. It's like keeping your eyes on the road ahead when your driving. It helps me see I'm headed in the right direction.

This is brilliant.

Thanks for the interesting question and the helpful replies. I've been on here a bit longer, but I found the thread contains several good reminders.

Bravo!

Love your story... And the t-shirt. You are definitely kicking some ...!

Major transformation in a short time! Congrats!

Beautiful!

I also like @Kimegatron 's idea of pre-logging to take some pressure off and have a better idea of the trade offs.

I would aim for maintenance, log it and move on. I wouldn't deprive myself too much in advance, because that just sets you up to overindulge. Enjoy the fun social weekend ahead!
