I've lost 15... From 140 to 125 at 5'2".... And I am finally getting some comments but only from family members. My work clothes are too baggy it seems to have anyone notice, although one colleague did just last week. Before that I was getting the general "you look great" or "you're glowing". That's good enough for me... I…

^This. You'll do it, too, @saraherren, with the positive support you find here.

Ottawa, ON here. Feel free to add me... And interested in a group too.

You can add me if you like. 5'2" and I've lost 15 with maybe 10 left to go. And then I want to focus on toning and getting more fit. You can do this. Losing weight is simple math... Less calories in than out. A bit of patience and knowledge (lots of help for both on this site) will help.

This is great advice. Also, your calorie target should not be less than your BMR. You may need to slow your pace if you want to be able to sustain your program and maintain your loss.

Great post and great replies so far. Very motivating. For me I hadn't liked the way my weight was creeping up, but didn't want to"diet" having seen too many people yo-yo on various regimes. I started dreading trying clothes on and hating the increasingly matronly options my husband was picking out for me from catalogues…

Is 1200 over your BMR? If not you will feel hungry ask the time... And lose muscle mass as you drop pounds. Eating below BMR makes weight loss less sustainable. You should be eating somewhere between your BMR and your TDEE to lose weight without depriving your body of what it needs to live. If that means you don't hit some…

When I want butter, I eat the real thing. And log it. I also use good oils for cooking and sauces.

You should read some of the getting started posts. In particular the sexypants one... You may not be eating enough calories in fact, which can set you up for failure long term. You should never eat less than your BMR... And I have also heard you should aim to have your net (after exercise) be above BMR but below TDEE.

Ditto! I gained steadily over a period of 10+ years. I'm okay if I don't lose it overnight. Counting calories, done properly, is not a quick fix, but quick fixes are proven to backfire more often than not, and that's not what I want.

I switched from whole to 2%in my daily latte and save 70 calories that way, but still get the protein and calcium. When I can't have that, I take my coffee with cream, and just log it. I am short and on a fairly tight 1289 calorie goal, but I can easily fit that in and it's worth it.

I've come to this same conclusion. I've also gotten better at listening to my body. A little hunger before bed = good. A ravenous appetite before bed = bad. And I eat back more or fewer calories accordingly. So far it's working.

I am loving this thread.

My shape hasn't changed all that much, and so I was pleasantlly surprised today, when I went shopping for something to wear to a family wedding next week, to find two dresses I really liked. One was very form-fitting in the best possible way! I could really see the difference from my last shopping trip. I am not ready to…

Congratulations! You kept with it and it's paid off!

So wonderful! You look great and have such a good attitude. Thanks for sharing, and congrats!

I'm 5'2". SW 140, CW 129, GW 120. I may go as far as 115 (weight 14 years ago, pre kids) depending on what I see in the mirror at my goal.

Love these! Everyone looks great.

Wow! You look great!

Hi all. I'm 5'2" and 52 yrs (53 this week!). Sw 140, cw 130, gw 120 (and then we'll see). My default calorie goal from mfp was 1200, but I adjusted it up to 1300, still below my tdee and more realistic for me. I use a fitbit and try to eat back only some of my exercise calories (when I have them). I don't use a foodscale…

Agree. Do what works. If it stops working, be scientific about it and look for where you can make positive changes. I don't have a food scale (yet), but I also believe that information is the most powerful weight loss tool.
