In one of these that was posted, someone brought up an interesting point. In addition to manufacturer differences, there seems to be a bigger weight difference, for the same exact brand and all, between 20 and 18 than between 18 and 16, than between 16 and 14, than between 14 and 12, and so on. Not sure how true others…

I'm beginning my 4th (and final!!) year now, working towards my bachelor of business administration in accounting and in management information systems. So I feel ya. Ironically, my biggest challenge is going to my parent's place for the holidays and summer, but I digress. My freshman year was the only year I was required…

Chia seeds and beans. Lentils, oats, blackberries, raspberries, apples, oranges, avocados, sugar snap peas, whole wheat/grain pasta/bread, flax seeds, popcorn. Chia seeds and beans. And also, Chia seeds and beans.

I'm not exactly sure. I started off at 169 pounds and a size 11 in most things, 13 in a couple (I'm 5'5.5"). Definitely could NOT get even a 9 past my thighs. Tops in juniors were large, dresses in misses (never bought Juniors dresses) were 10. I now range 146 to 149 and easily fit into a size 3 for most things, and…

This. Exercise on its own doesn't contribute to any kind of weight or fat loss. A deficit does. Pretty much all exercises can help make a deficit more feasible. If you exercise, you might want to incorporate some kind of strength training. It will help you in your quest to lose fat. Reason being, as you eat in a deficit,…

5'5.5". SW 169, GW 145. Now 146-148 and I'm happy here

I eat salads made out of baby spinach, but same different I guess. I weigh it, but I'm not as nit-picky about it as other stuff. 40 grams vs 42 grams of some spinach isn't going to make or break my whole day
-
The only thing that spikes my appetite is lifting. Strength training days are savage. But, like @VintageFeline was saying, if ALL you are concerned about is hitting 3500 calories, then drink a couple sodas, have some candy, go get a large milkshake, and have some cookies

I'm 5'5.5", 147 lbs. I wear a US 5 average or US 3 average in Juniors. I haven't gotten clothes from the misses section in a little bit, but the size 6 pants I bought a couple months ago fit loose, so I guess maybe a US 4 regular in misses? For comparison, I started at 169 pounds and wore a US size 11 average in Juniors…

Check out some of the body recomp threads here. That's what it sounds like you want to do. You'll either want to eat at maintenance or at a very small deficit while doing a progressive lifting program, such as stronglifts 5x5

Don't do it "just to satisfy" us. And you certainly don't need to prove anything to us (or me, rather. I don't want to speak for others). I've got my proof. If you don't want to do it, then don't. Keep doing what you're doing and I hope the weight comes off, I truly do :) I'm honestly not sure what you wanted us to say…

Let's take the banana smoothie, for instance. The entry for the bananas I eat is 110 calories for 126 grams. I used to eat a banana and think it was 110 calories. Got a scale. A banana was 180 grams. Making it 157 calories instead of 110. Multiply that 47 calorie difference times 2 or 3 bananas and I'd be 94-141 calories…

+1 With no food scale, you don't really know if you're over eating. A normal amount to you could easily be 2 or 3 times the serving amount. You'd be awfully surprised how big a mouth your eyes have
-
Will you gain weight or will the scale show a bigger number, which are you asking? Unless that pizza and pack of cookies was enough to undo your 2500 calorie deficit the past 5 days and add an additional 3500 calories for 1 pound, you didn't "gain" weight. However, it was probably salty, so the scale will probably show a…

The number one question that everyone will ask first ... Do you use a food scale?

Vegetables aren't a huge factor to losing fat and toning up ... People like them because you can eat heaps and heaps of them for the amount of calories they are. However, I also hate veggies, and I lost 20 pounds with maybe the occasional vegetable tossed here or there. Won't see me snacking on carrots or anything lol.…

Breakfast food since I woke up later than usual and then went to the gym, making it "lunch time" by the time I got back lol. It was an omelet with sour cream on the side: -2 eggs -2 egg whites -30g of spinach, lightly sautéed -20g mushrooms, lightly sautéed -13g shredded cheddar cheese -35g Black Forest ham -22g sour cream…

It's not weird. Everyone has different tastes. I still eat "kid burgers" (Bread, meat, and cheese only, plain and dry). I also don't like red cabbage, croutons, or tomatoes in my salad. I place my orders to reflect that, but occasionally something will get left on the burger or in the salad, and I take it right off/out.…

Well, first, congrats on your engagement!! Second, you've set out some great goals! Third, it all comes from within, and right now, your within is holding you back. We could all tell you that you are NOT old, you are NOT fat, and you ARE beautiful. However, you wouldn't believe it because you've set it in your mind that…

If you're not hungry at a traditional breakfast time, then don't eat! Some people don't eat until lunch, simply because they weren't hungry any earlier than that. No need to force it, especially if it makes you sick

0.8 lbs is most likely just a normal weight fluctuation. Some days, I'm up 1 or 2 pounds from the day before, and the next day, I drop back down. It's totally fine and normal. Also, as another poster said, if you aren't liking what you are eating, don't eat it. This isn't "a diet", it's a lifestyle change. If you make it a…

I've got the Charge HR and love it. The only thing I find mildly annoying is that the HRM gets weird with non-steady state cardio, but you said you don't do a lot of exercising so that probably won't be the biggest concern for you. Otherwise, the steps and HRM is accurate enough for everyday purposes, I've had mine for 6…

Don't worry about the naysayers. You're seeing results you're happy with and that's all that matters :) Next time they say something about your diet soda or about you eating a sensible portion of food, just kindly smile and let them know that you're doing just fine on your journey, and you didn't have to eat a veggie…

Lol it's funny you ask this because I'm sitting here in a pair of compression shorts and shorts right now ... I say wear what makes you comfortable. I originally bought mine because my shorts are super short and ride up when I run, making them obscenely short. I now sometimes wear just the compression shorts, but usually…

Probably already said, but it's unlikely that you are gaining muscle on 1200 calories. It's probably just water weight that'll slide off in a few days or a week or so. Also, if that 20 pounds bought you into a normal BMI, it's going to be much more difficult to continue losing than it was if you started out at an…

Academy. I love the BCG brand. Cheap price, good quality. I've got shorts, compression shorts, leggings, capris, tanks, and sports bras galore from that brand and love them all. I also have a couple pairs of Xersion shorts from JCP. I've had them for years and they still look brand new. For shoes, I typically go with Nike.…

Do you weigh your food? When you say you gained, is this over a period of time or you gained from yesterday? Is it pounds or some ounces? Do you weigh daily? Since you said you started MFP a month ago and the first few weeks it was fine, I'm guessing that this one week hasn't had the results you hoped. That sounds like it…
-
1 pound a week is totally doable. Just put in your stats and set your goal for 1 pound a week and stay in the deficit MFP gives you. Being that you're 5'2", a 1 pound per week deficit might put you at or around 1200 cal per day, but the fact that you walk will be a great help in perhaps getting you some extra calories to…

There are two kinds of people: 1. The ones that think that because the media says so. These are the ones that you can have a conversation with and kindly let them know it's not so hard as to have to cut out pizza and instead have kale juice for dinner 2. The ones that need an excuse. These are the ones you cannot have a…

Why not just eat the foods that you already know you love and don't find boring, just in smaller, more sensible portions that you weigh and correctly log? A healthy lifestyle is subjective, as is the distinction between exciting and boring food. To me, my healthy lifestyle is being conscious of how much food I'm taking in…
