That's why I referenced asking Mr. Google what your TDEE is and subtracting 5-20%. Any more than that can be detrimental to your goals.

Wow, awesome comments and advice. I, too, would recommend focusing on diet at first. As someone else said, 80% of it is what you eat. A gym might be nice but you don't really *need* it. I agree with brdnw in that you do have time to exercise. However, there are plenty of bodyweight exercises you can do, and plenty of inexpensive pieces of equipment you can buy and use at home.
