  • Dark chocolate with coconut is even better than dark chocolate without it. It's a new, healthier form of delicacy.
  • Would highly recommend Garmin Vivofit. None of these trackers are 100% accurate but counting your steps/calories is better than not counting 'em right? Vivofit syncs with my iphone and the battery life is much, much longer than the Fitbit. Also, I have a Garmin GPS watch so the watch & vivofit data all gets synced/stored…
  • I've slowly taught myself that only DARK chocolate exists & may be eaten. No other chocolates may be eaten! Keeps me out of trouble! As long as I obey this rule, I'm fine. Am I 100% compliant with this? No, but maybe 95%. :glasses:
  • Sweet! Congrats! T25 is amazing! (haven't tried X3 yet, did X2, tho). Awesome!
  • Yes, it's a problem. Using Glide and/or Bandaids can work. However, KT tape (kinesiology tape) adheres better than bandaids. Sometimes I have to wear a KT tape strip on my chest to protect myself from heart-rate-monitor cutting my chest. Think about small pieces of KT tape. Or just wear a full strip of KT tape if you're…
  • Bump
  • Relax people, if you think a crazy run-streaker like me is going to tell you to take 4 months off from running, you're wrong! Keep running! It's not set in stone-use it, adjust it, ignore it, create your own chart!
  • Bump, love kale any way I can consume it!
  • Chia, flaxseed & quinoa (I realize you didn't ask about quinoa but it's one of my 3 key ingredients-C,F, & Q) go in my kale smoothies together. Also eat chia & flaxseed atop oatmeal/sometimes together, sometimes only one of them. Chia rocks the oatmeal more than flax but they are good together, too. Usually I drink my…
  • Congrats on becoming a marathoner and for sharing your wonderful runspirational story! (I  marathon stories!) What a feeling! Proud of you! You rock! :glasses:
  • My favorite solution is running early (predawn) with a headlamp. If that's not possible, try running right before sunset (with a headlamp if you won't finish before sunset). Race the sunset, try to finish before the sun sets. Run where there is shade (trails/trees). Break your runs up into maybe 1 double run per week if…
  • BUMP  :glasses:
  • What an amazing bumper crop of tuna ideas! Awesome! BUMPing for later use. Between meatless Mondays and fish-loaded meatless Fridays, this helps a LOT! :glasses:
  • Trader Joe's by a mile!
  • As a fellow asthmatic and someone with many allergies, just wanted to encourage you not to give up. I've gone from not being able to run a 1/4 mile due to asthma to running marathons. Have you considered just counting steps (instead of miles) to simplify things with a pedometer or fitbit or vivofit (Garmin one I use)? I'd…
  • Also trying to decide this on whether I need a coach or not for training for my first 50k. I did have a fitness coach last year who helped me lose some weight (but some of the weight loss was due to support at mfp from y'all too). She didn' t really help me at all with my running although she is a runner. So, yes, the…
  • Honesty is the best policy, obeying the golden rule.
  • Runners who compliment other runners (faster runners in the hypothetical)--or try to be positive--always mean well, right? Don't we have to assume that to be on the safe side and to avoid a LOT of confusion? Yes! So that leaves your other three options with the blazing runner passing you: 1) chase the faster runner.…
  • Do you have a babyjogger? That was big for me when our daughter was that age and we got a lot of good father-daughter bonding with me pushing her on my runs. I'd try any starter/beginner running plan/app, e.g. Galloway Easy 5K. Jeff Galloway does run-walk-run systems. I use the Galloway marathon app on my phone. Good luck,…
  • Frozen blueberries are the SECRET ingredient in my "BLUE KALE" smoothies. Oops! DARN IT! I wasn't supposed to tell you! Love fresh blueberries but the frozen ones are just magical in your mouth!
  • Try an Organic Kale smoothie w/ UNsweetened almond and/or coconut milk (I use 16 oz of each), 1 scoop vegan protein powder, mix your favorite 2 kinds of frozen fruit (don't go too crazy on the fruit or you'll go over 600 calories fast), 1/2 tbs. coconut oil, 1/2 tbs. quinoa, chia, & flaxseed (same quantity for each), use…
  • Try www.AAFA.org (Asthma Allergy Foundation of America). I have multiple food allergies to legumes, peanuts, soy, and am lactose intolerant so I have allergies/food resistance that are somewhat similar/overlapping to what you are talking about. Your doctor (or at least an allergy specialty office) should be able to give…
  • Ch-ch-ch-CHIA! will rock your oatmeal! (Oh and honey but mainly CHIA!)
  • I gave up dairy due to lactose intolerance and switched to almond milk, CHOCOLATE almond milk (WOW!), and coconut milk. I know you didn't like almond milk but wanted you to know there are different flavors if that helps (vanilla, chocolate, etc.). Coconut milk is amazing and worth a try if you've never had it.
  • Try honey, stevia, almond milk, and/or coconut milk in your coffee. After a while, you won't want the sugar anymore. You either learn to love it black or with healthy additives.
  • Howdy y'all! Please feel free to add me to your "running army" if you wish. U can find me at Peace out.
  • LIncolnite here, would love to see a Lincoln group (or Lincoln area or Lincoln+Omaha if that's more practical)!
  • Going with 165, the total suggested by the RunThisYear calendar from Running Hutch.
  • You can do this! You've done the work (and you've cross-trained). Take your time and run:walk it if you have to. Don't worry about your time, just focus on finishing. Good luck! We believe in you! You need to believe too! Try to enjoy it and it will help with the nerves, I get nervous/excited/anxious before marathons too…
  • Howdy, another new Lincolnite, happy to see us all together in one happy group!
