  • Trader Joe's Organic Tuscan Kale, add croutons & raspberry vinaigrette. Very crunchy but tasty lunch!
  • Data-driven control freaks like me who are addicted to running and working out? :glasses:
  • Drink as much coffee (black) as possible but be careful on the additives (sugar & cream are problems)! When I gave up drinking pop, my coffee consumption doubled! Challenge yourself to drink 1-2 cups of green tea or more per day and watch the weight fly off! :glasses:
  • All runners are sometimes in what I call the "running groove" where things are going well but we fall out of "the groove", too. I blog about things like this on my running blog-www.RunningGrooveShark.com. Lots of running inspiration on Facebook, Twitter, & Google +. Try getting out there with shorter runs, then try…
  • McCann's Irish oatmeal w/ unsweetened coconut milk w/ splash of honey
  • LOVE THIS! Crushed a marathon while training in March listening to this song at the 26.2 mile finish mark--excerpted from "Anything is Possible" by Journey: "Up against the world, you face your destiny, Don't let today's regrets affect tomorrow's dreams. When you shoot for the moon and you miss your mark, Baby you'll still…
  • Howdy! Lincolnite & marathon man checking in to say hi. I've lost 27.5 lbs. this year and am just gettin' warmed up! Love the accountability system that MFP provides-wish I realized how helpful it was long ago. Hope y'all are having a good summer;) -Jeremy
  • I sure hope so, if not let's resuscitate/reactivate it! :) Jeremy
  • Try organic kale (KALE rocks!) with almond or coconut milk (unsweetened). Mix with 1/2 tbs. quinoa, flaxseed, & chia. Add tiny amount of coconut oil-1/2 tbl. Also add frozen fruit (I luv blueberries with mine). My favorite protein powder to add in these is SunWarrior vegan chocolate powder. Awesome!
  • I just turned 45, too. Staying in shape & losing weight takes a lot more effort and discipline as we all struggle to resist the somewhat natural inclination to be couchpotato. But it's a lot more fun to be as active as possible, eat right, hold each other accountable and improve our lives, being an inspiration to others.…
  • ~You have a gruesome blood blister---on both feet (and they were both well-earned). ~You add up your "birthday run" mileage and are disappointed that it's less than 1K short of your new age. DOH! ~Miles are just numbers to you and you crush them with a rock/like a rock. ~To run twice in one day or not to run twice (or…
  • Count me in too-just turned 45 & just re-learning how to thrive;) -Jeremy
  • Yes, I do try to have about 1 cheat meal per week. Was doing one "cheat meal day" per week and that encouraged too much eating the wrong thing. It does seem to instill some discipline to allow yourself rare occasions to have 1 cheat meal (w/o going too crazy). For example, last night we ate at Cheesecake Factory and it was…
  • Cornhusker State Games Energy 5K, ran a 24:31 (PR for recent 5Ks) bronze medal in age division, 1:03 faster than last year, only :02 from silver this year.
  • Stick with agua if you are not going far. If you need a zero-calorie electrolyte replacement with some flavor, try the Propel Zero (just pour it in your bottle w/ water & shake it up). Happy running! :)
  • Ran the Cornhusker State Games Energy 5K Saturday (bronze medal for my age division-got silver last year). Next race is probably either Bohemian Alps 50K in Sept. or Space Coast Marathon in Florida in December.
  • I'll add that book to my GoodReads reading list, thanks. Doing lots of reading about this problem. Yes, I am a coffee drinker too so I will check out that connection. All the coffee I drink is drip-filtered, though. Anyway, that's interesting, I've never heard of there being a connection like that. Thanks much. I…
  • Hi, Jeremy, 44, 12-time marathoner, asthmatic, and just learned I have a cholesterol problem. Trying to decide whether to train for a fall marathon or a 50K ultra (would be my first). Love to run, addicted to running. Great to see a marathoner group here! Running a 5K Saturday in the Cornhusker State Games (defending my…
  • Skip the running pants and wear knee-length compression socks!
  • You own 8 or more pairs of running shoes because they are for different types of "running occasions"!
  • You run 55 miles in one week before realizing there are two weeks of tapering before a 5K, not one. You run multiple half-marathons within a week to prove to yourself you are a running maniac. Even though you already know that. You consider a 5K a "short jaunt". When you get to 20-21 miles during a training run and have a…
  • Yes, I agree with others than you can lose weight while training for a marathon. Just ran my 12th full marathon in May. I've lost 22.8 lbs this year since Jan. 1 (4.4 this week;) It's a matter of discipline, hard work, and eating smart. I just learned I have high cholesterol so my diet/nutrition are shifting away from meat…
  • I'll wave at anyone who doesn't scare me when running as long as I can still lift my arms. Beyond 20 miles or so, it goes down to about the 1-finger wave, traditional wave in Nebraska
  • Feel free to add me, 44 yr old marathoner with a cholesterol problem.
