Personally, I look for either a box or a bottle with a funny/interesting name. But I'm more of a beer/liquor drinker.

Calories. Fats help keep you full (along with protein) longer. And of course, there are healthy fats to lean towards. If you're starting out, then I'd say first get a hold of calories and make that your focus. Then work on macros (ratio calories from fats/protein/carbs). If you're worried about your macros, you can…

I agree with what ^ they said. Do want to add though I plantar fasciitis (developed it last Fall). If flared up for quite sonetime and derailed my workouts. There are some foot workouts you can google. The biggest thing that helped me though was getting a couple tennis balls and rolling them back and forth and around my…

My brother has one of those thermopedic memory foam beds. It is amazing. I toss and turn, sometimes like a soft bed sometimes hard, but his bed I just sink into and sleep. Would definitely suggest trying one if you get a chance.

After having read the article and keeping in mind that I'm more obese that she is, I think this was mostly an artsy cry for attention. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. She didn't see herself as beautiful and instead of changing anything about herself to become more healthy, she changed her perception of beauty as well…

Burn-out is one of the biggest obstacles in long term weight loss. I'd agree with most of the above. Change up your workouts; walk/run/job outside instead of a treadmill or use some other gym station or anything that gets your heart rate up. Also, you don't HAVE to exercise to lose weight. You can keep a calorie deficit…

I agree with trogalicious there. If you want to meet your MFP calorie goal and exercise, then you will have to eat back the calories you burned. Typically the argument is if you eat too low of a net for too long it will depress your metabolism (cause you to go into starvation mode). I'll let you research that to see what…

Personally I just want some food to snack on, but mainly beer. My brother though makes some incredible things. 2 that come to mind. 1) Chip dip - couple blocks of velvetta, some minced jalepenos, some minced habeneros, some browned ground beef, diced onions, and a can or two of rotel diced (drained) tomatoes. All in a…

Junk food and spontaneity. I try to get good healthy food I can cook now and plan things out. No more "well I'm bored, guess I could go get some Chinese or order a pizza; wonder what pizza dipped in ranch dressing tastes like"

Sounds like you've got a good plan! Personally, counting helps me evaluate the food I eat. I'm very bad at judging how caloric/nutritious something is. Once I look it up and/or have it a few times I start to build better decisions as to whether it is worth it. But I've had a bad relationship with food most my life, so in…

Like most people have said it's all about priorities which is up to you to decide. Personally, I can tell you it's easier to keep weight off than get it off (and it's a bit easier to get it off when your younger than older). As far as ideas to help your situation, I would focus on combining activities and setting yourself…

Before MFP (joined 80 days ago...calorie goal 2600), I was dieting myself and eating low cal (but junky food). It was probably 1100-1900. Before I really started trying to change though (back in early 2012) I was eating probably 4000-5000 a day. Most everything I ate was fast food, take out, or delivery (got to know those…

I think it's a great habit to get in to. I try to make simple meals and in batches so I'll have leftovers to work with, which cuts down on spontaneous eating. More than anything for me though, planning meals (and cooking) made me really look at what was in the foods I was eating. There were things that I used to make/eat…

1-1.5 cups drained, chopped spinach, .5-1 cup diced tomatoes, 3 eggs, 1/4 cups cheese and some toast. Cook the veggies down a bit, add some Herbes do Provence, mix in the eggs; scramble. Add the cheese at the end and stir or over them after wards.

Fundamentally, calories are calories. It's just a unit of energy. But the nutrition that comes in different foods will heavily affect how you feel (and how easy/hard you can stick to your diet). Eating 2000 calories of low calorie/high volume foods (lean meats, vegetables, whole grains, etc) will generally leave you…

....talk to the owner or call animal control to see if there's something they can do before the dog does something that gets it put down. I mean if it's that aggressive when you're running by, what if a kid goes through the area? Also if there are a lot of careless dog owners around, I'd carry a small thing of pepper spray…

Not entirely sure what your asking. I'm almost positive the food database has fiber supplements (think I've seen some log them and know people that log multivitamins and other supplements), but even if they don't you should be able to create a new "food" and input the details of whatever fiber supplement you choose and log…
