LOL, I really fail to see what's so hard about this. If you want to participate in a scientific discussion about a topic, be prepared to defend your stance. If you don't want to have to defend your stance leave it as a general statement and admit you don't have the time/energy/knowledge/background to get in to the nitty…

One particular individual I have heard mentioned even had all the threads he started IN A PRIVATE GROUP go poof. This is someone whose flag count was primarily due to a flag stalker too. This person was apparently never even notified by anyone that he was at risk of being blocked or banned. *please keep in mind this is…

I've used a luna cup for the last two cycles. Actually got it as a result of a *mostly* joking around discussion on MFP, but I've been pretty happy with it so far. Thus far the only issue I have run in to is a bit of leaking when I haven't actually gotten it to pop open fully. But even with that, way less hassle and way…

Again, "reports". Waiting for responses from PM's to Mods but...... yeah.
-
LOL, Ok seriously though. I have heard reports today that there are users who may have gotten blocked or banned somehow because of total flag #'s. "Reports" but still.

BWAHAHAHA! I think I just sprained something inside me!

Ahhhh, the optimism of youth, how refreshing......

As a science person who is grammatically challenged, I find this post offensive. :grumble:

FLAGGED FOR BEING A SHOW OFF!

Hehehe! Welcome to grad school. Read a paper. Interpret a paper. Tear apart and mutilate the paper. That's pretty much all you do. Although you get a lot of good info about your professor's personal opinions based on what papers they choose for you to shred.....

In my experience on here, when the advice that is given is CLEARLY AWFUL, it gets shouted down pretty quickly. And then much butthurt and entertainment ensues. But, since the forum change, um, a lot of the people on here who were quick to slap that crap down, well, they're kinda sick of it. So yea, I can see that this…

Shhhh! Those people amuse me.

And I'll add, saying "hey, this has worked well for me and you can try it" is one thing. Getting all panties in a twist when someone else says, that's nice, but you don't have to do that and there are other ways of accomplishing the same goal is another thing. Because if the point is that OP wants DIFFERENT opinions, and…

I tend to get very twitchy about absolute statements in regards to fitness and nutrition period. It's almost impossible to do the kind of study that would be necessary in order to allow for that kind of statement. Unless we're going all the way back to statements of basic anatomy and physiology, chances are there are still…

Yup, I cry about my limited access to paid journal subscriptions on the regular.

In my opinion, the ability to differentiate between valid and invalid sources. The ability to differentiate between the foundational facts inherent to the topic and the still evolving questions currently under research in a topic (this one gets hairy though). And the ability to revise your opinion on an issue when…

LOL, we're being a *bit* tongue in cheek here. Hence my comment about it being OK to not be an expert, as long as you don't try to make out like you ARE. There are actually very few things discussed on these forums where I would consider myself enough of an expert to be able to deliver factual statements. Most of what I…

Yup, pretty much day 1 of EVERY introductory level course. And woe be unto you if you haven't learned it by the time you get to advanced or grad level. Not even sure *how* you could get beyond introductory level if you don't understand the importance of referencing and providing evidence for an assertion.
-
The issue comes in because many people can't seem to differentiate between their opinions and actual facts.
-
Actually, if they want their assertion to be considered valid, YES they do need to provide evidence to back their claim. It's the interwebz and anybody can make "claims" of expertise. Unless they're willing to back those claims with evidence, they will be placed firmly in the *doesn't actually know what they're talking…

Yup, it's just the code, not the whole web address surrounded by the youtube stuff.

Oh oh oh, I got this! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYq8OzoMSFo

Can we add something along the lines of "and it's ok to admit you're NOT an expert, but if that's the case, maybe read more from people who ARE able to post relevant sources and refer to them in a reliable manner instead of arguing with them incessantly while making it more and more apparent you actually have not a clue…

Posting since it appears some may need clarification. This is from the MODS I personally don't recall seeing anything posted thus far that qualifies as spam, pornography or hate speech so I am unclear as to why some posts have gone poof....

So I should be patting myself on the back instead? Look, I'm O+ and meet the weight, height and hematocrit requirements for double red blood cell donation, so that's what I do, every time. You can be damn sure I'm thinking about how it's going to affect my recovery over the next few days. My oxygen carrying capacity is…

Yes gout is genetic but it also has a food component. Limit red meats in general and any organ meats specifically. I had a gout attack in my early 20's as a woman who doesn't eat excessive red meats and doesn't eat organ meats at all. If it's genetic there may or may not be much you can do food wise to prevent it.

My weight fluctuates up to 5 to 7 pounds over any given week and I still consider it weighing the "same" because I've tracked my weight long enough and consistently enough to be familiar with how that works. While she says she's been in maintenance for two years, she's only been fluctuating her calorie intake for a…

People can look VERY different at the same weight depending on their ratio of lean mass to fat mass, so theoretically, yes, it is possible that OP is the same weight but carrying more fat. However, my money would be on stress, lack of sleep, and cortisol levels causing the issue, and not so much a significant change in…

Reduce your weekly goal to 1/2 pound per week so you have more calories to work with. Adjust your macro settings to include higher amounts of protein and fat. I like around 40% carbs 30% fat and 30% protein. The protein and fat will help you feel fuller longer, but you may need to play with your numbers to find what works…
