Preventing Muscle Knots
Ok, wonder if any one else has this issue, because no one else that I know has ever had to deal with it. When ever I start working out AT ALL, my entire body starts to develope massive muscle knots, like dime size to quarter size in diameter. The knots are bad enough, but eventually the knots in my lower body start to…

Why I prefer mean people!
They won't electrocute me! I make absolutely no claims about the validity of this article, just found it amusing. http://www.refinery29.com/2014/07/70485/obedience-personality-behavior-study?utm_source=facebook.com&utm_medium=post

Dairy Queen is trying to sabotage my weight loss!
So I had my day planned out perfectly everything set up so that I would meet my calorie and macro goals. I got to the Dairy Queen and placed my order, one double bacon cheese burger and a small dipped cone. I was VERY clear, just the burger NO meal! So what do I find in my bag?! French fries! Evil, carbohydrate filled,…

There's more out there than Alpha/Beta Phallacies
I’ve decided that if BB.com brahs get to base their entire world view on a completely misunderstood and old fashioned model of reproductive skew in communally breeding societies, the lovely lifting ladies of MFP need to pick an arbitrary and oversimplified behavioral reproductive model to base our treatment of males upon.…

I decicate my 500th post to...
My super sexy husband, who has put up with my MFP "obsession" since august and has never once tried to sabotage me. He would also totally win an eye-candy thread. [img][/img]

Gluten Free..........Bacon.
No *kitten*. Actually saw this advertised on one of the brands of bacon at the grocery store today. If you are trying to be "gluten free" and need to be TOLD that bacon doesn't contain gluten :explode: I just don't know what else I could politely say about this..... I thought the fact that my pure sugar candy was "fat…

Schoooools out for......weather!
So we're getting a weather day in my area and I'm trying to decide how to use it. My current vote is curling up on the couch, pretending to read a book and taking lots of naps. I might decide I need to add some hot chocolate in at some point. My husband suggested I get caught up on my lesson planning, but that is because…

Distance runners: How to work past 90 minutes?
Ok, so I do a long run once a week in addition to HIIT twice a week and strength training 3 times a week. My long run is always after my rest day which is also my "cheat" day so I'm usually coming off a bit of a calorie surplus going in to the run. I've been able to run for 90 minutes non stop since early November but…

Argument with husband: bee-itches and slores
My husband and I have a very loving relationship complete with pet names. He calls me a female dog and I call him a slore. We then debate endlessly on who's pet name is the most endearing. In the interest of science I will not post my own arguments for why my pet name for him is the best. So people of MFP, which would you…

New weight loss miracle: Eat my Poo!
Ok, so this is a spinoff from another forum post where emerging science on gut flora was discussed, but it got me thinking.... This could really be the next great weight loss fad! I mean it has real science to back it up and everything! So here's my sales pitch, I have highly inefficient gut flora (just take my word for…

Weight loss making me moody?
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I've been noticing for the past few weeks that my emotions have been on a bit of a roller coaster ride. This is VERY abnormal for me and I find it very annoying. It's somewhat similar to how I've responded the couple of times I've been on birth control. I've never used…

Yay! Finally broke 6 week plateau!
So I had been consistently losing 1-2 lbs per week since August and when I dropped to less than 20lbs to goal I decided to switch from just general resistance work to true heavy lifting. Accordingly, I upped my calories a bit and told myself I would be OK with my weight loss slowing down because I was trying to do this the…

Am I Crazy?
I know, asking for it..... Here's my thinking, I'm within 20lbs of goal weight and have lost a little over 1lb per week for the last four months. My plan is to just set my daily calorie goal at the maintenance level for the weight I WANT to be based on TDEE which seems to be the system that works best for my calculations.…

Advice on starting stronglifts 5x5
Ok, so I've been on here and losing fairly steadily since july. I've been managing my calorie intake and using P90X for my fitness. I like P90X, but it's a big time commitment and right now I just don't have an hour to an hour and a half to commit to my workouts every day, so here's the plan: 5x5 three days a week, a 30…

In need of a pick me up
Ok, so I've been working at getting back in shape seriously for the past two months. I've lost about 12 pounds, I've been sticking with my exercise every day even with school starting back, and I've been doing a good job of eating well 6 days a week and giving myself a break 1 day a week. I've made excellent progress and…

NSV - I just ran 5 miles!!!!
So I've been doing P90X for the past two months and hadn't really done any running because the last few times I tried to work on my running I ended up with injuries. I'm in a recovery week this week and decided to try a run, just to see how it went. I got on the treadmill, set a 5 mph pace and started running. I hit 30…

A special treat for the IIFYMer's
My husband saw these yesterday on wreckless eating and they made me giggle. Luckily I don't care for chips ahoy, but for those of you who do.........ENJOY!

Revving up my metabolism
This is just something I have been thinking about and decided to post because I was curious. It seems like for most people I see posting on these forums, they talk about the first ten pounds being the easiest to lose and then how their weight loss seems to slow down. In my experience this has been the exact opposite of…

Quick TDEE Question (I promise)
I'm using the TDEE calculator on scooby's workshop and it said to recalculate after losing 5 pounds. Recalculated today and it gave me MORE calories. Is that right? I can see that maybe my metabolism increased so I can eat more, but it just seems off to increase my calorie intake to keep losing weight.

Ignoring BMI
Ok, I'll admit, I've never liked BMI. I've always been suspicious that it doesn't really apply to me, but everything I read says that BMI should be used unless you're some kind of extreme athlete, which I definitely am not. HOWEVER, I was running some calculations in my head, and I really think I'm right about this, but…

Calling all couch diagnosticians!
Ok, so monday during my run my right heal started really hurting. Finished my run, got home did the whole RICE thing etc. noticed as I was getting ready for bed that the whole ankle was huge, but it was back down for the most part by the morning. Tuesday heal still hurting so I stayed off of it and used the bike instead,…
