I deal with this as well. The struggle is real. I know I need to be self-aware and mindful to avoid this every day.

Good morning all! Cut my grass last night and burned a lot of calories. I'm up and at it early this morning; left the house at 5:00am on my way to Oklahoma. I'm going to be careful to not eat unhealthy these next few days on the road.

Thank you for the welcoming comments; it is appreciated.

Good afternoon. I'm Doug in Akron, Ohio and I'm new to this group. It's good to meet you. I'm joining this group because I believe that you can't have enough friends or enough support on this weight loss/fitness journey. For me personally, I'm down about 50 pounds from my all time high weight of 293. I lost about 30 pounds…

I've got 43 pounds to go.
-
Today I'm grateful that I've gotten another chance to try and get it right.

Yes, had a salad with lunch. No dressing, so this keeps the calorie count down.

"Silence of the Grave," a crime novel by Icelandic writer Arnaldur Indriðason. I'm almost finished and then on to "The Sand Pebbles" by Richard McKenna.

I've learned that weight loss is (for me anyway) 80% nutrition and 20% exercise.

I'm about half way through the book "Wheat Belly." Questions for those of you above who posted that you are following this "Wheat Belly" approach (e.g. no wheat): 1) Did it help you? 2) Is it sustainable?
-
If a MFP friend deleted you, or anyone, because you were doing well with your weight loss, then it is best to wish them good luck and good riddance.

"The Sand Penbles" by Richard McKenna. A classic.

I couldn't agree with this more. Very wise / true.

"1agree100%! I've always done this and I'm sure it appeared selfish, but for me it's the "oxygen mask on an airplane" theory: you have to take care of yourself first so that you can take care of others."

Great advice.

1. Log my food properly and accuartely. 2. Stay under my total carbs count. 2. Get to the gym for a 40 minute strength training workout.

I go to PF 2 - 3 times per week and it has worked out well for me.

Thank you both.

Currently reading "Silence of the Grave" by Arnaldur Indridason to be followed by "Night Passage" by Robert B. Parker. I really like the Inspector Erlendur series by Indridason. Has anyone read any of the Jesse Stone series by Parker? Your thoughts?

@diethen, you can do this. Try and do it one day at a time. Remember that there is no failure short of not trying. My father lost 100 pounds when he was in his 70's. It saved his life. Age is a factor, but not a show stopper.

I love books as well (no Kindle or electronic devices for me - love the library and the feel of a book in my hands). I especially like mysteries and crime novels. I'm currently reading the Inspector Erlendur series by Arnaldur Indriðason. Then on to the Jesse Stone series. Please feel free to add me as a friend.
