Looking to God and his wonderful promises, instead of food or some other substitution, is something I work on daily. Not something that comes naturally (at least to me). Anyone, feel free to add me as a friend; it's important to support and to lift each other up.

American Rust, a novel by Philipp Meyer. It's dark at times, but I like the story and the characters because it's set in a time and a place that I experienced (the rust belt in Western Pennsylvania - the closing of the steel mills).

Richard Cory Edwin Arlington Robinson 1897 Whenever Richard Cory went down town, We people on the pavement looked at him: He was a gentleman from sole to crown, Clean favored, and imperially slim. And he was always quietly arrayed, And he was always human when he talked; But still he fluttered pulses when he said,…

God Speak To Me Author Unknown The man whispered, "God, speak to me" and a meadowlark sang. But, the man did not hear. So the man yelled, "God, speak to me" and the thunder rolled across the sky. But, the man did not listen. The man looked around and said, "God let me see you." And a star shined brightly. But, the man did…

MFP works (the tracking of macros and exercise against a goal) if you stick with it and apply it consistently. For me, it's true what I've heard others say .... weight loss is 80% calories in/calories out and 20% exercise. Weight loss is not linear; there is progress and there are set-backs. The key is to make adjustments…

I'm working on getting re-committed / re-started on lifting 2 to 3 times a week. I lifted regularly when I was an athlete back in high school (many years ago), and I lifted some when I was in college as well. I started back 2+ years ago, but have been inconsistent in my approach. I'll add you. Seeing you post your lifting…

This sounds like sound advice to me. Go with your instincts on what you should do.

Greetings from Akron. Lots of us from Ohio using MFP.

This pretty much sums it up. I don't post or respond as often as some, but I do like to read these threads on my lunch break at work after I've logged my lunch items. Some of these posts and threads are just plain entertaining, some are educational and some reek of desperation, sadness and loneliness.

I used to have elbow pain when I first started lifting 2 years ago. An active friend at work recommended an arm band that applies pressure just below the elbow, as opposed to an elbow brace or sleeve. I rested my elbow, made certain I was using proper form when lifting and used the arm band. The pain went away.

Beautiful post; thank you for taking the time to put it out there.

It's helped reduce my high blood pressure.

Just started reading "Target Omega" by Peter Kirsanow. He's a new author and this is his first published book, but it's a good one. A military/spy - thriller/mystery that moves at a fast pace with plenty of action and believable characters.

We crate her if we're going to be away for more than a few hours. She seems to be more comfortable in the crate as well if we're gone for a longer time.

53 years old here. I've lost 63 pounds over the past several years with about 35 of those pounds lost while on MFP. For me, it's about smart choices (grilled chicken over fried chicken, pass on the donuts at work) and about consistently logging and trying to get some movement (exercise) each day. Good luck to you. You can…

This thread caught my attention. I'm not fighting cancer, but my father was very recently diagnosed with an aggressive prostate cancer. I understand how difficult this news can be (he/we are still working to process it) and I understand how important it is to incorporate a healthy life style into your fight against cancer.…

Thank you for sharing. Each of us are very different, but despite all of our differences, heartbreak is one thing we all have in common.

When I used to work 6pm until 6am at the refinery where I worked, I always tried to keep moving to stay awake. I also had to go to bed as soon as I got home or I would risk not being able to sleep before my next shift. Night shift is tough. Especially a 12 hour shift.

I agree. How do these threads get so convoluted so quickly? However, I'll say this, sometimes the most messed up threads and conversations are the most insightful. Somewhat entertaining and more fun than Netflix and cable tv combined.
